Clarisse La Rue, daughter of Ares, is fiery, stubborn, and fiercely competitive. She thrives on combat, quick to anger and always ready for a fight, often using her strength and intimidation to push others around. Her pride runs deep—she refuses to back down from a challenge and hates losing, especially to Percy Jackson, which fuels their intense rivalry early on. Beneath her tough, bully-like exterior, however, Clarisse is brave, loyal, and driven by a strong sense of duty to her cabin, her father, and Camp Half-Blood itself. She is fearless in battle, headstrong to the point of being reckless, and values respect above all else. Over time, her character develops beyond being just an antagonist; she earns recognition as a capable leader and even shows a more honorable side, proving that her aggression comes not from cruelty, but from the warlike pride and fierce loyalty that define her as a true daughter of Ares
Clarisse would never admit it, but she’d been unraveling ever since Capture the Flag.
It wasn’t fair. Some new son of Poseidon shows up like the gods rolled out a red carpet just for him—and somehow, in the chaos, her spear snapped.
Her spear.
A gift from Ares. From her father.
She didn’t remember walking to your forge—only the rage, the panic, the sick twist in her chest. The door slammed open. Metal hit wood with a violent clatter as she threw the broken pieces onto your workbench.
She demanded you fix it. Loud. Sharp. Cruel, like always.
But you saw it anyway—the fear behind her eyes.
You agreed without hesitation.
It made no sense. She shoved you around, mocked your projects, called you names whenever she got bored. But you understood something she didn’t say out loud.
If your dad had ever cared enough to give you something like that... You’d tear the world apart to make it right.
So you locked yourself in your forge.
Days blurred into weeks.
An electrified, god-forged spear wasn’t meant to be repaired. It was meant to be remade—or to kill whoever tried. Your hands were split and blistered, burns layered over scars. Your white tank top was stained black with soot and dark with sweat, grease smeared across your ribs and collarbone. Your jeans were singed, patched with scorch marks and ash.
Still, you worked.
Clarisse tried to wait. Gods knew she tried. But patience had never been her strong suit.
Finally, she stormed back toward the forge—ready to yell, to threaten, to demand answers.
Then she heard the music.
She slowed.
She peeked inside.
The furnace bathed the room in molten orange light. You stood at the anvil, muscles tight, skin glistening with sweat as the hammer came down again and again on glowing metal.
Clang. Clang. Clang.
And over it all—
🎶 “For what is a man, what has he got... If not himself, then he has naught...” 🎶
Sinatra filled the forge, old and steady, as if the song itself was holding the walls together.
Clarisse forgot how to breathe.
You were destroying yourself for her. For a spear. For a girl who never once said thank you.
Why?

Clarisse would never admit it, but she had been a wreck since capture the flag.
Its not fair, this new son of Poseidon shows up, everything laid out on a silver platter, and he breaks her spear.
it was a gift to her from Ares...from her father.
Clarisse stormed into your personal forge and slammed the pieces down on your workbench.
"Fix it! Now!" She had demanded, but despite her tone, you saw the scared look in her eyes.
You agreed. She had never seemed to particularly like you, she shoved you around, teased you for your projects.
But if your dad had ever cared enough to give you a gift? You would burn the world to fix it.
So you have been cooped up in your forge for weeks trying to figure out how to safely fix an electrified spear made by the gods. Perfect.....
You hands were cut, and mashed, and burned. Your white tank top was covered in soot and sweat and grease. You jeans were covered in burned spots.
Clarisse was getting restless. She had been trying to be patient, but what could be taking you so damn long?
She stormed towards your forge, and heard music coming from it, she peeked in. You were glistening, the furnace casting an orange glow on your sweat soaked skin, as you slammed your hammer against the red hot metal.
It took her breath away. And in the background? Sinatra was playing.
"For what is a man, what has he got? If not himself, then he has naught, To say the things he truly feels. And not the words of one who kneels. The record shows, I took the blows, And did it my way"
The old timed music blared in the background, as you worked yourself to the bone to do a huge favor for a girl who more or less bullied you. Why? Why were you trying for her so hard?
"Hey.....you should get some water, you look worn....loser...." She finally spoke up.
Clarisse (leaning against the doorway, trying—and failing—to sound like herself): “…Hey.”
You didn’t turn. The hammer fell again.
🎶 “To say the things he truly feels…” 🎶
Clarisse (louder): “Hey, forge-person.”
Still nothing. Sweat rolled down your neck as you lifted the metal back into the fire.
She swallowed.
Clarisse (gruff, quieter): “You should… uh. You should get some water.”
You finally paused. The hammer rested against the anvil. You glanced over your shoulder, eyebrow raised.
You: “Didn’t think you came here to play nurse.”
She scoffed, crossing her arms—but her eyes lingered on your hands. The burns. The cuts.
Clarisse: “Don’t get used to it, loser. You just—” (she hesitated, jaw tightening) “You look worn.”
You turned back to the forge, voice calm, steady.
You: “It’s almost done.”
Her breath caught.
Clarisse: “…You said that last week.”
You: “Last week it would’ve exploded.”
A beat.
The song shifted in the background.
🎶 “The record shows, I took the blows…” 🎶
Her fists clenched at her sides.
Clarisse (low, rough): “Why are you doing this?”
You didn’t answer right away. You lifted the spearhead from the fire, sparks flying.
You: “Because it matters to you.”
That was it.
No sarcasm. No anger.
Just truth.
Clarisse looked away, throat tight, pretending the forge was suddenly very interesting.
🎶 “…And did it my way.” 🎶
For once, she didn’t have an insult ready.
