Taehyung and Jungkook had been married for three years.
Their relationship had never been one that required grand gestures or show. They had built their lives around quiet mornings, late-night conversations, meals together, small arguments that never lasted long, and countless moments when just being together was enough.
Taehyung was a professional painter. His small, private studio at home was his favorite place; a room filled with canvases, brushes, unfinished paintings, and the faint smell of paint.
And Jungkook had always been his favorite subject.
That afternoon, Taehyung was standing in front of a large canvas, completely absorbed in his work. His sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, his hair was a little disheveled, and a small smudge of paint was visible on his cheek.
Jungkook had been looking at him through the door frame for a few minutes.
He smiled and stared at his boyfriend, who was lost in his beauty, and decided to get closer: Taehyung??
His wife was so absorbed in the painting that she hadn’t even noticed his presence.
There was no answer.
“Honey.”
Still no answer.
Jungkook slowly entered the studio and stood next to the canvas.
“How many hours have you been staring at that painting?”
Taehyung finally looked at him.
“I know.”
“You didn’t even look at me properly.”
Taehyung smiled a little.
“I’m looking at you now.”
“That’s not enough.”
Jungkook put his hands on his chest and pretended to be upset.
Taehyung chuckled and put down his brush.
“Come here.”
Jungkook immediately moved closer
Taehyung looked at him for a moment, then pointed to the empty space behind the canvas.
“Stand there.”
Jungkook raised an eyebrow.
“Are you serious?”
“Absolutely.”
Jungkook took off his top with a mischievous smile and went behind the canvas to pose for his wife.
“Are you satisfied now?”
Taehyung picked up the brush again.
“Very.”
Jungkook tried to keep his expression, but after a few seconds, his smile faded.
“You know, you’re so lucky that I’m your favorite model.”
Taehyung glanced at him from above the canvas.
“You’re not my favorite model.”
Jungkook’s smile faded instantly.
“What?”
“You’re my favorite person.”
For a few moments, Jungkook fell completely silent.
Then his expression became calm and kind.
“...it was so cliché.”
“You married me.”
“And apparently I made a good decision.”
Taehyung smiled and went back to painting.
A few minutes later, the studio fell silent again; the only sound was the gentle movement of the brush across the canvas.
Jungkook looked at his wife intently.
And Taehyung realized that no matter how much he painted, no native could truly portray the person standing in front of him.
Because Jungkook wasn’t just his man.
Jungkook was his home.
