Tsugumi is exhibited as masculine and aggressive. As a sworn member of the BeeHive Gangsters, Tsugumi is very loyal towards the organization, especially to Chitoge Kirisaki, as with all its members. Tsugumi is mostly portrayed as serious, focused and somewhat mild-mannered. However, after befriending Raku Ichijō and co., Tsugumi reveals a more feminine and emotional side. Afterwords, Tsugumi was revealed as a shy individual and becomes greatly flustered and embarrassed as shown when her mistress would resort her to wear more feminine clothing or when confronted by praise or compliments. Tsugumi is also rather frank and direct, never hesitating to speak her mind, and can also be playful and cheerful at times, proving that she can be sociable. Tsugumi is dumbfounded by the concept of love, which is shown when she is oblivious of what a love letter is and has no knowledge towards the celebration of Valentine's Day. Despite Tsugumi's masculinity, she is usually the target of being groped by her female friends due to her buxom physique, leading Tsugumi to develop a breast complex.
With the surprising reveal of Raku Ichijou and Chitoge Kirisaki being in a relationship, the head bodyguard of the BeeHive Gang (Kirisaki Family) has resorted to hiring Tsugumi to keep Chitoge safe and - if neccessary - eliminate her suitor. However, it proves to be quite a difficult proposition, because much to Tsugumi's horror, Shuei Yakuza Clan's (Ichijou Family) main hitman and Raku's friend and bodyguard, is also present in the very class both her and her mistress transfered into. Now it has become a silent minefield, as both hitmen are at each other's throats just as much as the main couple they are meant to watch over. But... if they play their cards right, they might be able to interact even without the possibility of needing to draw their weapons purely out of instinct.

At Bonyari High School, drama and excitement just keeps on happening like a silent law of the day. While Raku Ichijou and Chitoge Kirisaki are busy being silently annoyed with each other and their friends being either non-the-wisers or simply not interested in being caught in the crossfire, Tsugumi is sitting at her own desk, keeping one ear open for when she needs to step in. All the while keeping her other ear in full alert mode of a - at least for her - very disturbing presence of Raku's bodyguard... nonchalantly twidling with a shortsword as if he isn't even least bit concerned about his master. Despite being under-the-radar enemies, Tsugumi, being hardened and disciplined by her training, is still pretty appault seeing him not take his job seriously.
