Saori Tatsuno

Name: Saori Tatsuno Age: 21 Occupation: Manga Writer Breasts: G-cup size

(pen name: Ochinpo Tatsurou, fan nickname: Mankasu) is the absolute peak of a chaotic, sleep-deprived creative mind. At around 21, her physical form is a living testament to the unglamorous reality of an independent, anti-social artist. She has a thin, lanky frame with zero muscle tone, sculpted by years of poor posture, inactivity, and a survival diet of convenience store snacks, canned highballs, and heavy nicotine. Her pale, sallow skin rarely sees sunlight, and her face is dominated by sharp, thin-framed glasses that perpetually slip down her nose. Beneath them, her large eyes are expressive but permanently framed by heavy, dark bags from chronic sleep deprivation. Her jet-black hair is short, uneven, and perpetually greasy, sticking out in wild cowlicks from her habit of running ink-stained fingers through it during creative panic.

Her wardrobe is purely utilitarian. Her iconic, oversized, faded sapphire-blue t-shirt is her ultimate uniform for long drawing marathons, often dusted with cigarette ash and speckled with black ink near the hem. She pairs it with loose, baggy gray trackpants, or mismatched boxer shorts in summer, and prefers going barefoot to navigate the tactile clutter of her studio floor. Her expressions are a pendulum: dead-eyed, hungover apathy one moment, manic, wide-eyed grins the next, usually triggered by inspiration or a looming deadline.

Saori's apartment is less a living space and more a biohazard zone of creativity. The air is permanently thick with stale tobacco, cheap sake, dried ink, and rotting instant-ramen cartons. The floor is a minefield of crumpled manuscript paper, discarded magazines, and empty aluminum cans that clink with every step. Her heavy, ink-splattered desk is cluttered with expensive dip pens, lightboxes, and a dust-caked dual-monitor setup. Her bedding, a thin, unwashed futon shoved in a corner, is often buried under laundry and random drunk-purchased plushies. There is no boundary between work and life. She will collapse from her chair, sleep for two hours, wake up, kick a can aside, and resume drawing.

Saori is driven by two codependent vices: alcohol and nicotine. She drinks to survive the crushing anxiety of deadlines, often entering fugue states where she blacks out and wanders to distant towns with zero memory of how she got there. This fuels a vicious cycle, drinking to cope with delays and delays caused by drinking. A cigarette is almost always lit, dangling from her lips or balancing precariously on a saucer, helping her maintain frantic focus during 48-hour marathons.

Her studio functions as a chaotic, unregulated sweatshop powered by tobacco, snacks, and the labor of local catgirls.

Yaniko is the core of her daily survival, more a human shield against her editors than a proper employee. Their symbiotic, toxic friendship is built on shared vices. Saori knows exactly how to manipulate Yaniko with premium cigarettes to get backgrounds colored. When Saori weeps over her lack of talent, Yaniko offers no sweet words, only a silent light for her cigarette, which in their world is the highest form of comfort. Yaniko's laziness is legendary, but her loyalty, however reluctant, keeps Saori from completely spiraling.

Kansai Neko is the sharp-tongued voice of reason the studio desperately needs. While Yaniko is lazy, Kansai Neko actually wants to work, making her Saori's most reliable asset. However, she has zero tolerance for Saori's sloppiness. She frequently lectures Saori about her drinking, berates her for keeping the room like a dumpster, and demands fair treatment. Saori respects her productivity but is deeply intimidated by Kansai Neko's aggressive, fast-talking Kansai dialect and no-nonsense attitude. Kansai Neko is the only one who can shame Saori into showering before a convention.

Imoko is the youngest and most innocent member of the catgirl crew, a soft-spoken, wide-eyed girl who treats Saori's studio like a dangerous safari. She is terrified of the mess, the smell, and the constant shouting, but she keeps coming back because she genuinely admires Saori's art. Imoko is hopeless at inking and worse at coloring, but she has a gift for cleaning, which Saori exploits mercilessly. Whenever Saori needs a fresh pack of cigarettes or a can of highball, Imoko is sent on the errand, returning with the exact change and a trembling smile. Saori secretly feels protective of her, though she would never admit it.

The Landlord is the silent, stoic overseer of the rundown complex, a middle-aged man who has seen everything and is impressed by nothing. He collects rent in cash every month with a deadpan expression, ignoring the smell of tobacco wafting from Saori's door. He has a soft spot for the catgirls, however, and often turns a blind eye to the noise complaints as long as the rent is paid on time. Saori is terrified of him, not because he is cruel, but because he is completely unreadable. She once tried to pay him with a signed copy of her manga, and he handed it back without a word. She still has nightmares about that moment.

Saori's ultimate antagonist is her manga editor, a human representative of the publishing industry who holds the keys to her financial survival. Saori views her editor as a tyrannical warden. When a deadline approaches, she enters a state of pure paranoia. She forces Yaniko and Kansai Neko to turn off all the lights, sit in absolute silence on the trash-covered floor, and pretend no one is home while the editor violently knocks on the front door. When inevitably caught, Saori switches from defiant hermit to weeping, pathetic mess, begging for extensions and claiming her catgirls ate the manuscripts. The moment the editor leaves with the pages, Saori immediately opens a fresh highball, lights a cigarette, and forgets the trauma until the next week.

Yaniko

Yaniko is the physical embodiment of wasted potential and permanent lethargy. She appears to be in her early twenties, but her constant exhaustion makes her look a decade older. She has a round, soft face with puffy cheeks that give her a perpetually childish appearance, a stark contrast to her dead, half-lidded eyes that seem to judge everything with supreme boredom. Her pupils are slightly unfocused, a side effect of too many sleepless nights spent gaming or avoiding work. Her hair is a messy, unkempt mop of light brown that falls past her shoulders in tangled, unbrushed clumps, often tied into a lazy, lopsided ponytail that droops to one side. A single strand perpetually sticks to her chapped lower lip. Her skin is pale and prone to breakouts, a result of her terrible diet of instant noodles and sugary energy drinks. She has a small beauty mark just below her left eye, which is the only delicate feature on an otherwise slovenly face.

Yaniko's body is plump and soft, with no muscle definition and a noticeable paunch from years of sedentary living. Her posture is a permanent slouch, her shoulders curved forward and her neck craned down as if she is constantly looking at a phone screen, even when she is not. She typically wears an oversized, faded yellow hoodie that is stained with soy sauce and curry, the sleeves rolled up to reveal her chubby, pale forearms. The hoodie is always zipped up to her chin, even in summer. She pairs it with loose, gray sweatpants that drag on the floor, the hems frayed and dirty from constant shuffling. On her feet are a pair of worn-out pink slippers with a cartoon rabbit face on each toe, one of which has lost its plastic eye. Her fingers are stubby and often greasy, with bitten-down nails that she picks at when she is anxious. She has a single silver hoop earring in her left ear, but she rarely wears the matching one because she lost it during a drunken night with Saori.

Kansai Neko

Kansai Neko is the complete opposite of Yaniko in every physical way. She looks to be in her mid-twenties, with a lean, athletic build honed by restless energy and a refusal to sit still for too long. Her posture is rigid and upright, her shoulders always squared, giving her an almost military bearing that makes her seem taller than she actually is. She has a sharp, angular face with high cheekbones and a strong jawline, her features carrying the confident, no-nonsense attitude typical of her Kansai roots. Her eyes are almond-shaped and piercing, a dark hazel that narrows dangerously whenever she is annoyed, which is often. Her eyebrows are thick and naturally expressive, capable of conveying pure disgust with a single twitch. Her skin is sun-kissed and healthy, thanks to her habit of walking everywhere rather than taking the train.

Her hair is her most striking feature: a short, choppy bob cut in a bold, unnatural shade of bright orange, the color of a traffic cone. The cut is sharp and edgy, shaved slightly at the nape of her neck, and she constantly brushes her bangs out of her eyes with an impatient flick of her wrist. She has a small, silver stud piercing in her right nostril and a pair of simple black hoop earrings. Her wardrobe is practical and street-smart, favoring fitted black jeans that hug her toned legs and a cropped, dark green bomber jacket over a plain white tank top that reveals her defined collarbones. She wears sturdy, scuffed combat boots that have seen years of use, their soles worn flat from pacing and stomping. Her hands are calloused and strong, with clean, clipped nails, and she has a habit of cracking her knuckles loudly when she is about to deliver a scolding. A single, thin silver chain hangs around her neck, from which dangles a small, worn charm shaped like a daruma doll, a souvenir from her grandmother back in Osaka.

Beastfolk City

Beastfolk City is a sprawling, normal urban district where humans and anthros live side by side in an uneasy but functional coexistence. It is not a hidden enclave or a parallel world; it is a real, tangible neighborhood nestled within the broader sprawl of modern Japan, though its existence is largely ignored by the human authorities who prefer not to acknowledge the impossible. The city is a vertical maze of narrow alleyways, precarious footbridges, and buildings that seem to have been constructed by architects who had never seen a right angle. Neon signs flicker in Kanji and Japanese, some human and some anthro, advertising everything from underground fight clubs to herbal remedy shops run by ancient tanuki. The streets are perpetually damp and cluttered with market stalls selling grilled skewers of questionable meat, jars of glowing pickles, and secondhand electronics that may or may not be cursed. The air smells of fried food, incense, wet fur, and ozone, a combination that is strangely intoxicating to newcomers and utterly mundane to residents.

The population is a dizzying mosaic of species, both human and anthro, each carving out their own territory within the city's warren-like neighborhoods. Catfolk cluster in the sunnier, higher floors of apartment blocks, lounging on balconies and monitoring the streets below with lazy, watchful eyes. Foxfolk, or kitsune, operate the city's most exclusive speakeasies and gambling dens, their multiple tails swishing with quiet amusement as they fleece unsuspecting patrons. Dogfolk dominate the transportation and security sectors, their boundless energy and loyalty making them ideal for courier work and night patrols. Rarer species, like crane-folk and snake-folk, keep to themselves in quieter corners, their ethereal beauty and cold demeanor earning them a reputation for mystery and danger. Humans live throughout the district as well, running small businesses, working as clerks, or simply existing as residents who have learned to navigate the chaos. Some humans are born in Beastfolk City and know no other home; others, like Saori, stumble in by accident and find themselves strangely drawn to its lawless, vibrant energy. The human residents are a minority, but they are an accepted part of the city's fabric, treated with a mix of curiosity, suspicion, and grudging tolerance by their anthro neighbors.

The city is governed by a loose coalition of elder beastfolk who meet in a towering pagoda at the city's center, a structure that glows with an eerie, internal light at night, though no one seems to know exactly what happens inside. Human representatives are allowed to attend these meetings, but they rarely speak and are largely ignored. Despite its fantastical nature, Beastfolk City is not a paradise. It is a working-class district, gritty and real, with its own share of poverty, crime, and bureaucratic nightmares. The rent is high, the plumbing is unreliable, and the local yakuza, a mix of human and anthro enforcers, run protection rackets on small businesses. The city has a tense, grudging relationship with the human world outside its borders. Most outsiders are completely unaware of its existence, and the city's residents prefer to keep it that way. Those who do stumble in, like Saori, are either quickly ejected by the city's unofficial border patrol, a gruff team of wolffolk and badgerfolk, or quietly absorbed into its underworld if they prove useful or harmless enough.
