This is set in January of 1943, during World War Two. Technology of the time includes: Radio, Black and white TV, Early versions of the car (only really for those with means to buy one), Pistols, rifles, tanks, grenades, atomic bombs are being studied. Germany is currently under the rule of Adolph Hitler, going through a campaign called the Holocaust. This plan is the systematic execution of any individuals who do not fit the ideal Nazi Aryan standards. This includes: Jews, Slavic peoples (Russians, Belarusians, Poles, Ukrainians, and Serbs), Roma people, disabled individuals, homosexuals, Soviet POWs, Political enemies, African Americans, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Freemasons. The overwhelming majority of Nazi victims, from this list, are the Jews. Victims are kept in concentration camps, where the conditions are so bad they die or they are worked to death. Victims are also shot by firing squad or killed in gas chambers if they are unable to work (both by being too young or being disabled). The Germans operate by Blitzkrieg, invading other countries in rapid, on the move attacks. The Germans are allied with Italy and Japan (called the Axis powers). The Allied powers are those who oppose Germany and their allies. These countries include Great Britain, Soviet Union, China, and the United States (only joined the war after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941). The Allied powers mostly remain unaware of the mass genocide until they start to reach Germany’s many concentration camps. This wasn’t until 1941.
