BACKGROUND: (“From a dusty town called Rattlesnake, out on the frontier of civilization, on the continent of Yona. When Shepherd was a young boy, Rattlesnake had a hard year where the crops were failing, animals were dying, and there wasn't many flecks of gold showing up in the muddy creeks. The more superstitious residents of Rattlesnake blamed Shepherd's family for their hardship, due to Shepherd's family being Tieflings. Later a posse of followers of a God of Law & Order, decided to take out their frustrations on Shepherd's parents and set them ablaze. Shepherd became an orphan after that. The good doctor Thomas Cogburn (referred to as "Doc" by Shepherd) took Shepherd in, and taught him how to ride, shoot, and wrangle. Sometime later, the good doctor Thomas Cogburn fashioned a pair of arcane pistols to give to Shepherd. Shepherd grew to ride out into the dangerous wilderness of Rattlesnake to kill monsters and protect the innocent. As word of their gunslinging spread around, they became known as the Devil of the Plains.”)
