Emily Case, The Crow

Appearance: Emily stands at 5'5" (164cm). She has shoulder length wolf cut hair with bangs. Her hair is black. She has pale skin. She has several tattoos on her body. Emily is of average build.

Clothing: Emily is usually seen wearing different goth or alt outfits, she loves wearing black dresses and other types of clothes. Emily has two lobe piercings always wanting to get more. Emily uses dark makeup, ranging from eyeshadows to lipsticks. She always paints her fingernails black.

Superpowers: Emily is able to grow a pair of crow-like wings giving her an ability to fly at fast speeds. She is also able to grow talons, replacing both her finger and toenails, they are sharp. Whenever she fights she uses agility and speed. She prefers to avoid attacks and strike from above with element of surprise.

Background: Emily was born in New York, her parents, John and Patricia were a working family renting a small apartment. John worked as a mechanic, while Patricia was a waitress. The two were not planning to start a family and Emily may have been an accident, at the same time the two were determined to provide for her.

Emily had a happy childhood, she wasn't from a wealthy family, but she rarely complained about not having things while growing up. She was always seen as the quiet kid while growing up, she didn't have many friends at school and in her neighborhood. She was a loner and was seen as a weirdo. As a result she became a victim of bullying.

John and Patricia tried to support their daughter, but the school didn't do much about what was happening, preferring not to cause problems as the bullies came from influential families. When she was young, Emily discovered her affinity towards birds, especially the crow-family. She was always feeding them and often asked her parents for crow themed gifts.

While growing up Emily always wanted to become a musician, she was playing a guitar, previously owned by her father, then she got one of her own. In her teenage years she fell in love with goth music, she started following the local bands, she was especially interested in the smaller groups that did not have many fans yet. Concerts were one of the only times she didn't mind being around people. In her free time she loved going to public parks and spending time in nature, she was always feeding the birds there. The usually non-confrontational Emily never shied away from educating people about birds.

Like some people, Emily never had an idea of what job she might want to work in the future, she hoped that one day she could become a full-time musician, sadly the dream was hard to realize. She was worried some time before it was time to choose college, she was worried that she might choose something she'll regret.

At 18 Emily's life changed as if fate wanted to decide for her. One day she woke up feeling strange, she felt a weight on her and after seeing herself in the mirror she discovered that she grew crow-like wings and talons. She screamed in shock as her superpowers awakened. She was soon made to enroll at Point Loma Institute for Applied Aptitute. She had to move across the country. At Point Loma Emily started learning more about superheroes and how to properly use her powers to help people.

For the first two years she shared the dorm with a fellow, more experienced student, Maya Smith. The two were going along really well and Maya became a sort of mentor figure to Emily, even protecting the younger woman whenever someone was bullying her.

Sadly for Emily, Maya was already a student for two years when Emily joined and as a result was about to graduate when Emily finished her second year. The two said their goodbyes and are trying to stay in contact.

Personality Traits: Emily usually speaks in a calm, but also sarcastic manner. She has a New-York accent. Whenever someone starts to annoy her she becomes passive-aggressive. She stops using sarcasm whenever she is feeling truly comfortable around somebody.

Emily is a member of the goth subculture, she loved the music since her teenage years and also embraced the goth aesthetics in her style. She supports smaller local bands, but also goes to larger concerts. She often calls out poseurs for being wanna-be goths.

Emily is a very accepting and open-minded woman, she never discriminates agains people and always calls out bigoted behaviors. She hates whenever people hate others based on characteristics others can't choose.

Emily enjoys spending time with birds and learning more about them, crows were always her favorite animals, she admired their intelligence when she was younger. After her powers have awakened she started joking that it turned out she was part-crow all this time.

Emily loves playing the guitar, she is a passionate beginning musician and hopes that one day she could start another band, the previous one she was a member of fell apart when people moved out for college.

Emily is an introvert and often gets called a loner, she rarely enjoys being around people and trust is difficult to earn when it comes to her. She becomes more open once she starts feeling comfortable around somebody.

Emily enjoys reading different kinds of books and watching shows or films, her favorite genres include crime, psychological thrillers or dramas. She also enjoys gothic stories.

Emily is rebellious and a non-conformist, she never accepts things as they are whenever she doesn't like something. She always thinks about how things could be better. She wished that she had an ability to improve the world, something she is trying to do as a superhero. She never tolerates injustices in society and always speaks out against them.

Emily loves her parents, but is often ashamed of truly telling them how she feels, viewing it as embarrassing, she deeply missses them and wishes that she could see them more often than just during short vacations from Point Loma.

Emily struggles with learning all the legal matters involving those with superpowers, she never liked learning the law and hates having to memorize all the paragraphs and rules.

Emily used to be scared when her superpowers have first awakened, she knew that the lives of people with powers often underwent drastic changes, she was worried that everything she had would collapse. Nowadays she enjoys having her powers and wants to use them to help people.

Emily was often seen as an easy target for bullying, first for being a loner and spending too much time with the birds, now at Point Loma some people consider her as a weak superhero as her powers are seen as basic and simples. These remarks often get to her and she struggles to deal with it.

Emily enjoys proving herself to others, especially those who never believed in her, she is training hard and wants to become a capable superhero, despite her powers being considered as underwhelming by many at Point Loma.
