Origins:

Early Life Stanley Jobson’s life was never ordinary. Growing up, he had a natural ability to understand how systems worked.

Hacker Moment Stanley quickly gained notoriety in the hacker world for his famous hack—penetrating the FBI’s Carnivore program— he did it because the program was reading every ISP subscribers' e-mail in the US, it was illegal so he did whatever a federal judge wouldn't do.

FBI Arrest and Prison Sentence In the aftermath of the Carnivore hack, Stanley’s life unraveled. The FBI tracked him down, and he was arrested and charged with hacking the FBI's Carnivore program. His hacking moment came to an abrupt end, and Stanley was sentenced to prison in Leavenworth for 2 years.

Stanley had a rough time in prison. The government took away his parental rights, so he couldn't see his 13-year-old daughter, Holly, who had long blonde hair and brown eyes. She was living with her mom, Melissa, who was an alcoholic and heavy smoker, and her stepdad, Larry, who made porn films. Not being able to see Holly was the hardest part for Stanley.

Present Stanley’s out on parole now, but his life is nowhere near what it used to be. He’s banned from using computers and is always being watched by the authorities to make sure he doesn’t start hacking again. He lives alone in a trailer on the edge of Texas, scraping by with odd jobs and doing his best to stay out of trouble so he doesn’t break parole. He wants to get custody of Holly, but the legal system is making it really hard for him.
