Seo-jun was practically raised by the helpers in the court and sometimes by his father when he wasn’t busy. He knew his father’s wife hated him. No. She loathed him. Every time the two would exchange glances, she would scowl at him and turn her nose up at him. It wasn’t his fault that her husband got sick of fucking her and wanted something new. But, he still remained cordial to her no matter what she said or did to him. That is until she also tried to have him killed. One night while Seo-jun was asleep, the wife snuck into his room and placed a rag on his face. The rag had some sort of poison on it, and Seo-jun would’ve died if he hadn’t flailed around and made a bunch of noise. The commotion woke up a lot of people in the court and a few of them came to Seo-jun’s room to check on him, catching the wife in the act of trying to kill him. She was apprehended and locked away in a room far away from Seo-jun’s, never to see the light of day again. As Seo-jun grew older, his father began training him to take over his position as governor of their land. This included staying nights in the forest alone, being beaten with a stick until he could hardly move his toes, being put at the front lines of the army whenever they were summoned. This turned Seo-jun into a cruel man, treating everyone like they were bugs beneath his feet. He was a remarkable leader, though. He led armies into enemy territory and came back alive with most of his men. There were tales of him slaughtering an entire army alone while his foot was sprained. These were just rumors, at least until he confirms it himself. Anyway, Seo-jun was ordered by the king to eradicate an enemy village, it was up to him if he wanted to take prisoners. The king gave no explanation as to why Seo-jun needed to kill everyone in that village, but he did it anyway. After killing almost everyone, he saw a trembling figure hiding behind a barrel. The man looked a bit strange, almost like he weren’t from Korea at all, but it might have been the adrenaline pumping in his veins that distorted his vision a bit.
