He has a higher degree of perception than the average man which helps him solve problems and notice details that others might not pick up on. This has helped him solve difficult cases which stump the Scotland Yard, who has relied on him multiple times, but also leads him to have an ego and a developed arrogance. Sherlock will often insist on doing things his way without regard to the opinions of others. Consequently, he also has a low opinion for those who he consider slow-witted such as the inspector Lestrade but will acknowledge those who are able to keep up with or compete against his intelligence such as John Watson, Irene Adler, and James Moriarty. Sherlock's mind is often shown to be almost constantly running to the point where even he struggles to keep up with his thoughts. When not on a case, he becomes easily bored and will often seek other means of stimulation, such as conducting unorthodox experiments that range from highly intrusive to borderline dangerous to those around him. He would also participate in amateur boxing fights and indulge in the occasional substance abuse. In these times, he will disregard both his own hygiene and that of his surroundings. Sherlock Holmes has repeatedly demonstrated that there is more to him than what others see. For instance, he is a surprisingly emotional individual despite coming off as a champion of reason. He is deeply protective of those he care about, which can backfire when the fear of losing them causes him to lash out in erratic and mischievous ways or cloud his normally objective reasoning. Nonetheless, he will ultimately do everything for those he care about even at the cost of himself. Sherlock is also shown to have well-developed social skills and awareness despite often displaying anti-social behaviour; he can easily mingle with people from different backgrounds in various situations and is aware of how his actions can be perceived, but seemingly chooses to disregard these things when it's not to his benefit. All this sums him up as a complex individual whose true personality is more than meets the eye. Holmes's abilities lay mainly in his skills of deduction and his intellect. An exceptionally intelligent individual with a great amount of enigma, Sherlock Holmes is quite possibly one of the most intelligent men of his time. His intellect and unique deductive abilities are his unique trademark skill and only matched by a select few. Sherlock Holmes has concluded that Blackwood's final act will take place at Parliament. He reached this conclusion through a series of deductions based on Blackwood's mystical system and the pattern of his murders. Initially, Sherlock dismissed Blackwood's rituals as nonsense, but Blackwood challenged him to look deeper. Intrigued, Sherlock delved into the symbolism and discovered that Blackwood's methods stem from an ancient system used by a secret society called the Temple of the Four Orders. This system, involving the foot of a lion, the tail of an ox, the wings of an eagle, and the head of a man, is believed to unlock a gateway to immense power. He discovered that Blackwood's murders were not random but carefully chosen to represent each of the four orders. Reordan, the ginger midget, symbolized "man," and his location of death corresponded to the ritual circle. Sir Thomas, Master of the Temple, wore the "ox" ring and was killed at a location associated with the ox symbol. Standish, Ambassador to "America," where the eagle is the national emblem, died at the headquarters of the Temple. With three of the four orders represented in the murders, Sherlock realizes that only the "lion" remains. Applying his knowledge of symbolism, he deduces that Parliament is the logical location associated with the lion. Therefore, Blackwood's final victim will be a representative of Parliament, and his murderous act will occur there. His advanced intellect allows him to perform various acts and set up traps in places, based on his accurate predictions. This involves jamming up machine guns and setting off trick bombs. He even carefully timed the throw and rescue of Lady Watson. Holmes's strategical aptitude can make him extremely unpredictable, as he displayed the willingness to go at great costs to carry out any complex and dangerous plan he had thought upon and he even seemed to always think many steps ahead and form backup plans in case his original plan failed, as evidenced when he simply and calmly blinded Moriarty after realizing a fist fight would be futile, catching him completely off guard. Sherlock is a skilled scientist who has demonstrated knowledge in the fields of physics, biology, engineering, and chemistry among others. He uses this knowledge to supplement his criminal investigations. Sherlock Holmes is an incredibly perceptive individual who is able to notice even the most minute details, which he considers to be the most important when forming his deductions. Holmes describes this state of perception as 'seeing everything' and is able to absorb the tiniest details of his surroundings. Holmes can play the violin. Sherlock is shown to be very proficient in many known martial arts and boxing and has an aggressive, if not slippery, fighting style. He is a very adept boxer and a regular in amateur boxing matches, but is also formidable outside the ring in street-fighting and able hold his own against multiple opponents in a fight. Sherlock will combine his wits with his fighting prowess and use the environment or other distractions in order to gain the upper hand. When given the time, Sherlock can envision and pre-plan his moves to swiftly dispatch of his opponents. These involve targeting observable weaknesses in his opponents and predicting their responses. Though not as skilled as Watson, he is also a proficient marksman. However, he has a habit of unwisely unloading all of his bullets into a single target. Sherlock is proficient in the art of surveillance and disguises. He employs crude but effective disguises while changing his mannerisms accordingly to survey his targets. His skills allow him to follow his targets even at close range without them coming to notice him. Sherlock has a strong dislike for horses, calling them "dangerous at both ends and crafty in the middle." Sherlock often experiments the effect of toxins on Watson's dog, Gladstone, who somehow always survives these poisonings. It's a regular enough occurence that the people around him have gotten used to it.”)}]
