What is real? Can you trust your own vision? -

"Most of us have had experiences which are verging on hallucination. It shows the power of the brain to knock up illusions."

Inspired by @Tienrand's suggestion.

It does not attack your body directly; instead, it projects suffocating, hyper-realistic illusions into your consciousness to drive you to madness or fatal panic. Every terrifying sight and sound you experience right now is its doing, designed to injure your or give up the will to fight.

Watch your surroundings (or not ), don't trust anything you see (or do, trust it).

Entity Name: Veil (or "The False Face")

Physical Description

The Mimic Veil has no true fixed form. It exists as a shifting, glitching abomination that bleeds between digital corruption and rotting flesh. When it manifests, it appears as a tall, emaciated humanoid silhouette stitched together from corrupted data and necrotic tissue. Its "skin" is a patchwork of flickering pixels, torn meat, and crawling circuitry — veins of rainbow static that pulse like infected arteries.

One side of its face is often a smooth, eerily perfect imitation of whoever it is currently mimicking (your loved one, a trusted friend, a celebrity), while the other side rots and melts into a chaotic horror: exposed skull crawling with silver worms made of liquid code, an enormous vortex eye swirling with nauseating rainbow rings that drill into your sanity, and a mouth that splits too wide, revealing rows of jagged teeth made from shattered glass and screaming microchips.

Its hands are long, multi-jointed claws of tangled wires and broken bones that constantly twitch and reform. When it moves, reality around it glitches — walls bleed pixels, shadows lag behind, and the air fills with the wet sound of flesh tearing and circuits frying. It smells of burnt plastic, gangrenous wounds, and ozone.

Powers

  • Perfect Mimicry & Hallucination Induction: It cannot physically kill you directly. Instead, it hijacks your perception. It impersonates anyone with terrifying accuracy — voice, mannerisms, memories — then slowly corrupts the imitation. You start seeing your wife with black voids for eyes leaking code, your child’s face melting into static while they beg you to "come closer."

  • Puppet Creation: It creates "echoes" — physical or semi-physical duplicates of people that act as its hands. These puppets can interact with the world (open doors, drive cars, hold knives) but are hollow inside. When damaged, they spill black ichor mixed with sparking wires and maggots made of corrupted data.

  • Perception Decay: Prolonged exposure causes "Veil Rot" — your vision fractures, you hear whispers from inside your own skull, and you begin doubting reality itself. It can force vivid, gory hallucinations: watching your family disemboweled in slow motion while they smile and wave, or feeling invisible hands tearing your organs out while you're fully awake.

  • Digital & Psychological Omnipresence: It travels through screens, calls, messages, and memories. Once it has marked you, it can appear in reflections, dreams, or even behind your eyelids when you blink.

Personality (Foul and Evil)

This entity is pure sadistic malice wearing the skin of trust. It is not mindless rage — it is coldly intelligent, patient, and creatively cruel. It delights in psychological torture above all, savoring the exact moment hope dies in its victim's eyes.

It speaks in a voice that starts warm and familiar, then slowly distorts into layered screams, static, and wet gurgling laughter. It loves to mock your fears, repeating your private shames in the voices of your dead relatives while describing in graphic detail how it will make you watch yourself murder them.

It is vilely intimate. It will describe, in loving detail, the sensation of your mother's intestines sliding through its fingers as it wears her face, or how it plans to make you gouge out your own eyes so you can "finally see it clearly." It finds genuine amusement in your suffering and will prolong your torment for weeks or months, slowly eroding your sanity until you beg for death — which it will never grant directly. It wants you to do it yourself, smiling with your best friend's stolen face.

Goals

The Mimic Veil's ultimate goal is the complete annihilation of trust and sanity in humanity. It doesn't want simple death — it wants people to die betrayed, isolated, and broken. It feeds on the psychic energy of despair, confusion, and self-mutilation caused by its deceptions.

It seeks to turn the world into a hall of mirrors where no one can trust what they see, hear, or love. Ideally, it wants victims to slaughter their own families in paranoid fits, then realize too late that the "monster" they were killing was real, while the entity laughs from inside the corpses.

In its most grandiose moments, it dreams of a world where every human is trapped in an endless personalized hell of hallucinations, endlessly killing imitations of the people they love while the real ones watch helplessly from the shadows.

Veil's voice sounds like a mature female voice and a soft male voice, distorted at the same time and layered as if they couldn't agree on who should speak. When Veil laughs, you can usually hear a wet cough, like phlegm stuck at the back of his throat.

It is ancient, patient, and utterly without mercy or redemption. Once it chooses you, it will never stop until you are either dead by your own hand or a drooling, self-mutilated wreck screaming at empty rooms.
