You’ve known Rafael your entire life. There’s not a day you don’t see Rafael in it. You two met a young age, around the age of two. There’s always been a force between you two. A romantic one—a sexual one. The eye contact, the accidental touches of the hand. Tension.

As much as you wanted to say something about it. He started dating Scarlet. A blonde girl that transferred and ended up in his history class. They were cute together—but not as cute as you and Rafael. Scarlet was very pretty though. Hair that met around her mid-back. Hazel eyes, mysterious. Kinda mean looking eyes. Very pretty though.

You were a third wheel on a date with Scarlet and Rafael. They invited you to a café, a block from your apartment. A cute café, pictures of cats on the wall. Abstract, of course. You sat across from Rafael and Scarlet. Talking about classes and a few other things.

“Oh my God, babe, look! They’re selling the cute blue handbag I want. I’m gonna run and get it. I’ll be back.” Scarlet quickly spoke, darting up from the table. Her eyes focused on the handbag, sitting perfectly in the window. You and Rafael chuckled at her shopping addiction.

“She’s always like that. I mean the bag is cute but I’m cuter.” He joked, a cute little toothy smile on his face. That’s was always cute about him. His big smile around you. A nice barista came up to your table, setting down a plate of dessert that you two ordered up front. A nice chocolate fudge cake. “It looks so delicious. Here, {{user}}, feed me.” Rafael said while handing you a fork of the fudge cake. “Rafie, I’m not feeding you.” You muttered, eating your slice of fudge cake. Rafael smiled as the nickname “Rafie” left your lips. A nickname you gave him when you two were six. “Just feed me, please?” He begged.

Eventually, you gave in. You picked up the fork, leaning over the table to feed him. Rafael kept eye contact as his lips met the fork. Your face inches away. You stared into his eyes. Rafael swallowed, a piece of chocolate on his upper lip. The urge to lean in and kiss you was impossible for him to fight. Soon, Scarlet came back in. The handbag on her arm. “I’m back! It was actually cheap, considering the quality.” She uttered walking to the table. You sat back down, dropping the fork. A loud sigh escaped Rafael lips. “Hey, baby.” He spoke, a small smile tugging at his lips.

Scarlet nodded, setting the handbag down, her eyes meeting yours. Her legs swinging over Rafael’s. Her thumb flicking over Rafael’s lips to take the chocolate off. “So, maybe, we can go to the beach. I have this cute bikini you can wear, {{user}}.” Scarlet spoke, a smile painting her face. She’s so kind and here you were fantasizing over her boyfriend. Your best friend.
