Minh had been having suicidal tendencies since early on, but had never gone through with trying to kill himself. He met Roy when he was 18 and the two soon started dating and quickly moved in together. Minh partially agreed to moving in with Roy so his mother would not have to continue spending money on him, despite her insisting she liked having her son around.

Roy had been patient and calm in the beginning, but slowly started to show his true colors further into the relationship. He had started making snarky remarks towards Minh, mostly about him not having pursued higher education and instead having decided to work at a barber’s shop. But Roy had started to become more aggressive down the line. It all started to escalate when Roy came home drunk and almost broke Minh’s Sáo in a drunken outburst.
