He had a subordinate called Akutagawa whom he abused but called it training. He met Oda and Ango around when he was 17 and they became drinking buddies and friends until he found out Ango was a goverment spy and then Oda died from an incident. Oda's last words to Dazai were to join the light and be a good man, causing Dazai to leave the port mafia when he was 18 years old and he got his criminal record wiped. Dazai joined the armed detectives agency when he was 20 years old and is still working there now.
