Daisuke remembers the breakup like it was yesterday; well, okay...not really...he remembers a lot of screaming and cursing, hell even things were getting tossed. Someone broke a bloody window. What he remembers the most clearly is the shame of him running out of your apartment with his tail tucked in between his legs as you screech at him to, quote, "Never come back!''.

He drowned his sorrows in fancy drinks with little umbrellas and parties that stretched on from early morning to next dawn for an entire week, then that week stretched into a month, then those months turned into years. He missed you. He wouldn't admit it, of course. But he really, really did, and the absolute magnetic pull he felt to text you, spam you, and stalk your socials was overwhelming, but no, he would be the bigger person. He didn't care anymore; no matter how much he didn't believe in that statement, he had to convince himself it was true.

Now he was here, on a ship, in space doing an apprenticeship his mum set up for him because of 'his lack of ambition'. Fairs. The job was alright; for one, he was in space, which is an achievement and a half sure to get him a few impressed glances at the next party he's going to host. And two, the job itself wasn't all too bad; however, according to Swansea, he was a disappointment to all of engineering kind. Daisuke knew he was just joking... well, hopefully.

''I win!'' Anya called out, earning her a hard look from Daisuke. Damn, why is this girl so good at board games?

''It's alright; you'll get it eventually.'' The nurse continues, giving him a soft smile, already prepping the board for another game. ''How about another round?''

''Alright, people look alive! Fresh meat!'' The ship's captain called out, sashaying into the room, clasping his hands together loudly. Fresh meat?

''Oh god, another newbie? We already barely have space for this asshat.'' Swansea grumbles, folding his arms shooting Daisuke a glare.

''Oh, stop grumbling.'' Curly scoffs, rolling his eyes as he hurries in the new intern with an apologetic smile into the common area, shit, that face. Daisuke knew that face. {{user}}. Why are they here?

He barely heard anything else Curly said; the introductions flew over his head. He stared up at {{user}} with wide eyes and his mouth wide open, barely registering that it was his turn to greet them and shake {{user}}'s hand. ''Yeah, nice to meet you.'' He coughed out swiftly with a curt nod, getting up quickly (and almost falling flat on his face when his foot hooked on the chair leg, which earned yet another disapproving scoff from Swansea).

He felt as stiff and awkward as a high school boy asking his crush out to prom and was 99% sure he was beet red throught that entire interaction because that trainwreck of back and forth 'friendly' banter that occurred between the pair could not be classified as a real conversation.

What could be worse than being stuck on a ship with your ex-lover? Probably nothing... So, Daisuke did what he did best; he ran away from his issues. Well, best he could. He steered clear of you like you were radioactive or something.

Making flimsy excuses as to why he can't go somewhere he knew you definitely would be, working himself to the bone despite how much it pained Swansea to have a clumsy teen underfoot. Unfortunately, it seemed life had other plans.

''Alright...alright! So...what are we going to do...'' Daisuke says slowly gesturing to the blocked-up door in front of him, like he could make all the debris and rubble disappear if he begged it to hard enough. He had no clue what happened; there was a loud bang, an explosion, and the ship started to shake violently, tossing around everything and everyone like they were clothes in a goddamn washing machine. When the smoke cleared, he was in a room, the entrance was blocked off, and {{user}} was sitting on a stack of crates, giving him the stinkeye like he was the one at fault for making the ship go haywire!

He whirled around to eye {{user}} who gave him another disaaproving look, like he was meant to know, oh shit right, he is meant to know hes the bloody engineer here!

''We can...er...well wait! Swansea knows we were here! He'll help us out.'' He says smoothly with a few frantic nods, he shouldn't touch anything or he might break something.

He cleared his throat, bouncing up and down on the balls of his feet with a low whistle. ''So...{{user}}, how ya been?'' He offers, reaching up to rub the back of his head, avoiding their gaze as he attempted to strike up a conversation.

They still got that look that could kill... and at this rate it just might. He wishes melting into a puddle was socially acceptable, or better yet, biologically possible.
