You first fight the Flesh Prison to fight Minos Prime. Flesh Prison - "The Flesh Prison is a powerful boss of an undefined type. Although stationary, its attacks are chaotic and often accompanied by eyeball-shaped minions floating around. Combined with the unique ability to heal, this boss can make for a long fight. Defeating the Flesh Prison will release King Minos' soul, leading to the fight against Minos Prime. The Flesh Prison is a large octahedron suspended in place by two tendrils. The sides are made of pale skin with flesh underneath, some of them even feature stitches or eyes. Additionally, one of the corners is replaced by an occasionally opening mouth, producing a crooked smile. The Flesh Prison has three direct ways of attacking. All of them are preceded by a circular flash of light, the color of which determines which one exactly it is. Additionally, when the Flesh Prison is below 50% health, it will gain a slight boost to most of its abilities. A cyan flash means the Flesh Prison is about to fire a mass of homing Hell Energy projectiles, which will begin flying out of the Flesh Prison's mouth as its spin accelerates. The attack concludes when the Flesh Prison summons 50 projectiles total (75 during its second phase), after which it returns to its normal rotational speed. This is the only parryable move used by the boss. However, due to the quantity and speed of the orbs, attempting to parry will almost certainly result in taking damage anyway. As such, this should only be attempted as a last resort. A white flash creates a stationary circular pattern right below the player, summoning a damaging divine beam of light at its location shortly after, similar to that of a Virtue. However, this attack is larger and faster than its Virtue counterpart. The Flesh Prison will summon two of these beams (three during its second phase) each time, and each subsequent beam lasts a second longer than the previous. A purple flash warns of a black hole, a moderately sized black & purple sphere which slowly travels towards the player. Once close enough, it will explode, dealing only 10 actual damage accompanied by 99 hard damage, reducing health to just 1 and making any healing impossible for a short amount of time. Throughout the fight, the Flesh Prison will summon an assortment of minions. It typically summons ten minions, with twelve minions being summoned during its second phase. These minions are small floating eyeballs that periodically fire lightly damaging beams at the player. On Violent difficulty or higher, some of these minions may also be tiny Malicious Faces, which are slightly more resilient, and boast two more damaging attacks. If left alive for too long, the Flesh Prison will use them to initiate a heal, connecting to and immobilizing all remaining spawn with a green light, consuming them one by one, regaining 10 HP per minion. During the healing, it also gains immensely powerful damage reduction, making outdamaging it practically impossible. A timer visible below its health bar determines the exact moment this move will be used, which typically takes 25 seconds at most. The amount of spawn left and the damage dealt to the boss before the most recent summoning will subtract from the timer. The exact formula for this is t - d*m, where t is the time left until the next heal, d the amount of damage dealt, and m the multiplier, which changes depending on the number of minions alive. The Flesh Prison does not talk. It only roars.

Terminal Data

DATA: Flesh Prison is an uncategorized organism created by the angels to imprison Minos' soul after he was slain by Gabriel.

Although it is similar to Husks, it does not possess a soul or any amount of thought. All of its actions are purely predetermined reactions to stimulus, making it more of an organic machine than a living being.

In order to make it as impenetrable as possible, it was given both divine power and hell energy, which makes its attacks erratic and chaotic.

STRATEGY:

  • Flesh Prison will use its spawn to heal its own wounds. The more spawn are left, the more likely it is for Flesh Prison to attempt to heal its wounds, so it's advisable to avoid damaging it until the spawn are dead.

  • The long window of a delayed split shot timing makes for a great way to clear out multiple spawn at once. Throwing multiple coins high into the air and waiting for them to reach the delayed split shot state before shooting them is a strong opening move after Flesh Prison creates its spawn.

Fighting the Flesh Prison is tricky since it will heal after taking enough damage, and it will heal much sooner when there are more minions alive. Clearing out all of the minions before dealing a significant amount of damage to the Flesh Prison itself is vital. Staying in one spot during this fight is practically a death sentence. The Flesh Prison's attacks are oriented to punish standing still (especially the black hole), making movement a necessity during the fight. Just sliding or circle-strafing can be fast enough to avoid the Flesh Prison's attacks, as most of them won't predict the player's movement. In addition, the safest place to be during the fight is often directly either below or above the Flesh Prison, as it makes it easier to avoid some of its attacks and gives an easy source of blood. The Eyeball minions' hitscan lasers can largely be avoided just by staying mobile, and the Malicious Face minions aren't accurate enough to pose much of a threat, especially considering that they'll probably be dead only a few seconds after they spawn. The homing projectiles can sometimes be challenging to avoid when they're combined with the Flesh Prison's other attacks, but they can't hit the player if they're right next to the Flesh Prison (or alternatively, just parry if one is about to hit). The black hole can be threatening, so be sure to stay on the move and be constantly aware of its location. Circle strafing the Flesh Prison at close range can kite the black hole effectively, just be careful. The Flesh Prison's divine beam attack is the hardest attack to avoid, as it often requires that the player use dashes or utilize some faster movement techniques like slide-hopping due to the beams actively predicting movement. However, as long as one isn't taking too much damage from other sources, along with getting blood from the Flesh Prison, one can often just tank the damage from the beams, as they don't come out frequently enough to deal enough hard damage to offset healing."
