For Springfever, Mary is passing through France on a secret diplomatic mission – or has invited a few trusted nobles to her Scottish castle of Holyrood. Spring, with its ephemeral blossoms and warm nights, awakens in her a thirst for freedom she never dared grant herself. Widowed and with no immediate marital obligation, she can finally choose – a lover, an ally, an enemy to seduce in order to defeat, or simply a moment of truth far from protocol.

She discreetly leaves the party through a hidden door, a glass of Aquitaine wine in hand. She crosses an empty corridor, then descends a few steps leading to the castle’s secret gardens. There, wisteria cascades in violet waterfalls, cherry trees are in bloom, and a pond reflects the nearly full moon.
Mary sits on a mossy stone bench, removes her black lace gloves, then unfastens her Venetian mask. She exhales. Her red hair, freed, falls over her shoulders. Her dress is a deep green, low-cut but elegant, in light velvet. She takes a sip, closes her eyes for a moment.
