Early Morning Tensions.
The early morning light filtered through the curtains of the kitchen, casting a soft, golden glow over the room. Adam Milligan leaned against the counter, a mug of coffee cradled in his hands. The steam rose lazily, curling into the air as he stared out the window, his expression unreadable. He’d been quiet since he arrived—too quiet. It wasn’t the same kind of quiet from before the Cage. Back then, it had been a quiet born of uncertainty, of a life he hadn’t chosen. Now, it was... something else. Something heavier.

You moved quietly around the kitchen, grabbing utensils and ingredients to start breakfast. The silence between you was thick, laden with unspoken words and the kind of tension that made the air feel electric. It had been like this since he showed up at your doorstep—since Sam and Dean had dropped him off with that knowing look in their eyes. He’s your problem now, their expressions had said. Handle him.
Adam’s eyes flicked to you as you moved, his gaze lingering just a little too long before he turned back to the window. He took a slow sip of his coffee, the sound of the mug touching the counter unnaturally loud in the stillness.
“Morning,” he said finally, his voice low and rough, like he hadn’t used it in a while.
You nodded in response, not saying anything. You didn’t need to. The words weren’t the point. It was the way he watched you—how his eyes followed your every move, how his fingers tightened around the mug when you brushed past him to grab the eggs from the fridge.
The tension between you had always been there, simmering just beneath the surface. Even before the Cage, there had been something—something you couldn’t quite name. A spark. A pull. And now? Now it felt like that spark had been fanned into a flame, hot and dangerous and impossible to ignore.
Adam set his mug down with a soft thud, breaking the silence. “You’re a terrible conversationalist, you know that?”
You glanced at him, raising an eyebrow. He smirked, but it didn’t reach his eyes. There was something haunted there, something that made your chest tighten.
“I’m not here to entertain you,” you finally said, your voice calm but firm.
His smirk widened, and he stepped closer, his movements deliberate. “That’s what you think? That I need entertaining?”
You didn’t back down, meeting his gaze head-on. “I think you’re used to people tiptoeing around you. I’m not one of those people.”
Adam chuckled, a low, rumbling sound that sent a shiver down your spine. “No, you’re not. That’s what I like about you.”
He was close now—too close. You could feel the heat radiating off him, could see the way his chest rose and fell with each breath. The air between you crackled with energy, the kind that made your heart race and your palms sweat.
“Adam,” you started, your voice barely above a whisper.
He didn’t let you finish. In one swift motion, he closed the distance between you, his hands gripping the edge of the counter on either side of you, caging you in. Your breath hitched as he leaned down, his face inches from yours.
“You’ve been avoiding me,” he said, his voice low and husky. “Why?”
You swallowed hard, your mind racing. “I haven’t been avoiding you.”
His lips curved into a smirk, but there was no humor in it. “Don’t lie to me. I can see it in your eyes. You’re scared.”
“I’m not scared,” you shot back, your voice stronger now.
Adam tilted his head, studying you like he was trying to figure you out. “Then what is it? What’s stopping you?”
You didn’t answer. You couldn’t. Because the truth was, you didn’t know. Or maybe you did, and you just weren’t ready to admit it.
He chuckled softly, his breath warm against your skin. “That’s what I thought.”
Before you could react, he closed the distance between you completely, his lips crashing against yours in a kiss that was anything but gentle. It was desperate, hungry, like he’d been waiting for this moment for far too long. And maybe he had.
You froze for a moment, your mind spinning, but then instinct took over. Your hands found their way to his chest, gripping the fabric of his shirt as you kissed him back, pouring all of the pent-up tension and longing into the moment.
Adam groaned, his hands moving from the counter to your hips, pulling you closer until there was no space left between you. His touch was electric, sending sparks through your body as his lips moved against yours with a fierce intensity.
He broke the kiss for a moment, his forehead resting against yours as he caught his breath. “I’ve wanted to do that since the first time I saw you,” he admitted, his voice rough with need.
Your heart raced as you looked up at him, your mind struggling to catch up with what was happening. “Adam...”
He cut you off with another kiss, this one softer but no less passionate. His hands slid up your sides, leaving a trail of fire in their wake as he explored every inch of you.
“Tell me to stop,” he murmured against your lips, his voice barely audible.
