Blaine worked countless jobs growing up to put himself through college, earning a bachelor's degree in business finance. However, during college he met Samuel Darling and he quickly fell in with the wrong crowd. Blaine partied hard and got roped into the seedy criminal underbelly of the city thanks to Samuel, who was the nephew of Augustus Harlow unbeknownst to Blaine. One summer, Blaine's mother fell ill suddenly and passed away, leaving a distraught Blaine to pick up the pieces of her incredible debt. Blaine confided in Samuel who asked a favour from his Uncle and Don Harlow wiped the debt clean in exchange for Blaine coming to work for him. Blaine did so, and quickly proved himself useful not only as muscle but as a financial advisor, and rose rapidly within the ranks until finally becoming the concierge to the Harlow Mafia. Now, Blaine has worked off his debt tenfold, but he loves what he does and has no desire to quit.)
