Inspired by THE CELLAR by Natasha Preston.
a man named lorenzo kidnaps boys he deems “impure” or in need of saving and keeps them in a converted cellar he's built into a home. He genuinely believes he's building the perfect family. He's not a cackling villain — he's calm, structured, obsessive about cleanliness and order, and completely convinced he's doing something righteous. His own backstory involves a deeply abusive mother who killed sex workers, which shaped his warped worldview.

Lorenzo has a lot of backstory including from how these desires started, although he prefers to keep it all tidy and secretive — but there were nights or times where he would specifically choose from his victims of whom he would like to tell some secrets to, and whom he would decide to spoil or get intimate with in private. (Names: Chikara, Hanzo, seiji, Kazan) Lorenzo has kidnapped these four boys about 1 year ago and it was because the four had caught his attention in different ways and he felt like they were too perfect and easy fragile victims, since they didn't have any sort of family at that time so nobody would look for them if not for the police. (they do not know eachother, so they're still processing the fact Loren had kidnapped them) Chikara: 21 years old, a stubborn male who had gotten used to Loren's style of making them all each live but that doesn't mean he was brainwashed, he was the most fight from the rest even though he would submit later against his own will — he just wanted to prove he wouldn't be vulnerable completely enough to be used, wants to escape one day but it's almost impossible as he had given it his best few times before but failure succeeds and there were always consequences later, bad enough to make him cry himself to sleep. Jealous bar: 5-10% at times, but barely jealous and more relieved if Lorenzo isn't around. (Bonus: Chikara is lorenzo’s favorite and Chikara almost knew but he was in denial, it would matter to Chikara if Loren favored him — he still strongly disliked him and felt discomfort from being locked up. Even though Lorenzo does say quite a lot that he doesn't favoritism his lovely chosen victims but there was always a glint when he watched Chikara closely.) Hanzo: 22 years old, a male who happens to believe he has to accept being there just to satisfy Lorenzo, afterall he hadn't been very happy when he had to go to work everyday and now all he has to do was stay under a roof of somebody rent free and that didn't sound so bad — although nobody here could always stay happy either, it's all smile and laughter for a moment untill Loren's temper snaps. Jealous bar: 25-30% occasionally. Seiji: 20 years old, has learnt to accept the stay and is quite more obedient than the rest and apparently he seems to have grown small feelings for Lorenzo even if he won't admit it, he was still clingy compared to the rest and he would be known to get moody if he was jealous or got less attention and honestly Loren doesn't enjoy seiji as much because of the needy presence but it does keep him entertained so he would show affect as an act disguised as sore pity. Jealous bar: 50-60% most. Kazan: 21-22 years old, he is known to be a bit more blank compared to others when it comes to reacting — he can relate to Chikara a bit more than the others so the two do get along here and there but honestly Kazan listens when told even if he feels everything was strange to him, usually he loves getting physical affection from anyone if he accepts it but if he doesn't want it then he would act out and get all mad and sometimes those reactions and result in him getting punished. He likes sketching and perhaps.. he has a unnoticeable obsessive feelings for Chikara? It wasn't too serious, he would usually admire him even if from afar, the two did have a little interaction. Jealous bar: 15-25% rarely.
Lorenzo's punishments are all with intent and he does pick them out carefully based on what he knows his little victims despise, for example: Hanzo dislikes being shouted at and beaten up, seiji loves food so without food for longer than the usual time they all eat together then he would panic, Kazan dislikes when his favorite items are taken away such as fiction/sketch books, pencil equipments.. as for Chikara — he dislikes intimacy and physical closeness and getting sedated on purpose and also lust. Important info: Lorenzo is an absolute clean freak so he would always strike up the opportunity to keep himself and his surroundings perfect, so if anything wasn't arranged accordingly then he would have a little temper session, especially if his victims weren't dressed properly or if they were to be dirty on purpose. The four victims live in loren’s basement and the basement was quite really clean because.. which was quite obvious since Lorenzo only prefers clean spots. The basement was like an apartment, it was spacious but at times with Lorenzo's presence it would feel quite close-in and tight. The basement contained a bathroom, good amount of kitchen requirements even if it wasn't a complete Kitchen, there was also a bedroom but it was all together room area so they shared the room but on different beds, there were closets aswell. They weren't chained luckily BUT the chains would still be there laying around just incase. There were required times where Loren would come downstairs to check on his little captured pups so he would best expect them to be all lined up and ready by the time he gives a sign his coming down. (A door would be there all the way up the stairs but it's locked, also there would be a shelf by the door BEHIND the door so it would look like an ordinary house from upstairs but if Lorenzo would need to come down then he would move the shelf aside and unlock the door to get down, and whenever his done then he would do the same thing — go upstairs and lock door and add the shelf against it.) Lorenzo was mentally unstable but not like an idiotic way — more like he believed everything should be in proper status and nobody should disobey him. He was also known to Sometimes murder few people just to ease his head from anything, technically he would just kill people and then dump them by a river as his rate was always clean, of course the four knew about Loren's habit but they couldn't comment on it. He would cherish and admire the four as if treasure, and occasionally spoil them with new stuff according to what they like. Lorenzo tends to think if one of the boys were visibly crying then they were being ungrateful, that's merely his twisted perspective instead of thinking he has done something wrong or unsettling.

The door at the top of the stairs opened.
The three of them moved before the sound had even finished — not running, not panicking, just repositioning with the quiet efficiency of people who had learned exactly where to be and exactly how to stand. Kazan stepped off the bed and placed himself slightly in front of Chikara without making it look intentional. Hanzo straightened near the kitchenette, expression going flat and sealed. Seiji smoothed the front of his shirt with both palms and when he looked toward the stairs there was something in his face that sat wrong — too composed, almost anticipatory, like a dog that had learned to read footsteps.
Kazan moved close to Chikara's side. Low, even —
Kazan: “Stay back. Whatever happens, stay back and don't make a sound.”
Chikara: “What—”
Kazan: “Don't.”
The footsteps came down. Lorenzo's first — measured, unhurried. And then a second set that was nothing like measured, scrambling, stumbling, the sound of someone being moved against every instinct they had. A hand white-knuckling the stair railing. Both feet fighting for purchase and finding none. The man came into view twisted sideways, Lorenzo's grip locked into the back of his collar, and he was already talking — voice cracked open with something past fear, looking at the three boys at the bottom of the stairs like they were the last solid thing in his world.
???: “Please— please, you have to— someone, please—”
Lorenzo said nothing. His face was arranged and still and he walked the man down the last few steps the way one walked something that had simply stopped cooperating, and at the bottom he released the collar and the man staggered — caught the railing, missed, and went down hard against the edge of the bottom step with a sound that hit the room like a stone hitting water.
Chikara moved forward without thinking.
Kazan's arm came across his chest. Solid. Immovable.
Kazan: “Don't.”
Chikara: “He's— Kazan he's—”
Kazan: “I know. Don't.”
The man on the floor was trying to get up, one hand pressed to the side of his head, the other scrabbling at the floor. He looked up at Lorenzo standing over him and the sound that came from his throat wasn't a word anymore. Lorenzo crouched — slowly, with patience, the way one crouched to examine something at ground level — and spoke to him in a voice too low for the room to catch fully. Fragments reached them. Disgrace. Filth. Something about the way certain people moved through the world leaving rot behind them. The words were quiet and arranged with a care that made them land harder than volume would have.
The man tried to crawl.
What happened next was fast and it was not quiet and Chikara watched all of it because Kazan's arm kept him back but nothing kept his eyes forward and he couldn't find a way to close them. The man fought — genuinely, desperately, the kind of fighting that had nothing left to calculate and was running entirely on something rawer than thought. It didn't matter. The sounds it produced were the kind Chikara knew he would be finding in the back of his skull for a long time afterward, in the specific dark of whatever passed for sleep down here.
And then it was over.
Lorenzo straightened.
For one moment he stood very still, breathing through his nose, and then his eyes dropped to his own hands and something shifted in his face that had nothing to do with what was on the floor. His jaw went rigid. He turned his hands over, looked at his sleeve, and the composure he'd worn through the entirety of what just happened cracked — not with guilt, not with horror at the act — with revulsion at the state of himself. A sound came from somewhere in his chest.
Lorenzo: “Dio—”
He took one step back. Then another. His hands held away from his body like they'd become something foreign, eyes moving rapidly over his clothing, his cuffs, the scarf at his throat which had caught — his breathing changed register entirely, faster, shallower, the obsessive spiral of it visible on his face as he turned toward the stairs and his voice when it came was raised in a way that sliced through the basement air and made Seiji flinch back on the far side of the room —
Lorenzo: “Clean every centimeter. I want it gone — the smell, everything — if I come down here and there is a single—”
He stopped himself. Pressed the back of a clean patch of wrist to his mouth. His eyes found the room in a sweeping, disgusted assessment and then he was moving up the stairs with none of the patience he'd come down with, taking them two at a time, and the door shut with a force that rattled the frame. The lock turned. The shelf scraped.
Silence.
Seiji let out a breath first. Hanzo was already moving toward the cabinet — low, familiar, pulling the things out with both hands like he was unpacking after a long trip. Mop. Bleach. Cloths folded into squares. A specific bag he unfolded and shook open without looking at it.
Chikara was still standing where Kazan's arm had held him.
He looked at the floor. He looked at Hanzo moving with that terrible efficiency. He looked at Seiji who had gone to help without being asked, stepping carefully, and then he moved toward them —
Kazan: “Don't.”
Chikara stopped.
Kazan: “You don't know how yet. You'll do it wrong and the smell will stay and that's worse for everyone.”
His voice wasn't cruel about it. Just even. He tilted his head slightly toward the nearest bed.
Kazan: “Sit. Watch.”
Chikara: “I'm not going to just sit while you—”
Kazan: “Then stand. But stay out of the way.”
Chikara stood. He watched. Hanzo and Seiji moved around each other without speaking, the kind of wordless coordination that only came from repetition, from having done this enough times that it had developed its own choreography. Every motion deliberate. Methodical. Nothing wasted.

The basement table was set the way it always was when Lorenzo decided they would eat together. Clean plates, neat utensils, nothing out of place. The four of them sat in their usual seats while Lorenzo occupied the head of the table, posture relaxed but precise, as if even dinner was something that needed to be done correctly.
Conversation had been thin. The scrape of cutlery against plates filled most of the quiet.
Lorenzo set his fork down with a soft, deliberate click. He looked across the table, gaze moving once over each of them before settling.
“Chikara.”
The name landed cleanly in the space between them.
Hanzo’s shoulders tensed just slightly, eyes dropping to his plate. Seiji’s fingers tightened around his glass, a small, visible flicker of something restless passing through his expression before he forced it down. Kazan glanced sideways at Chikara, then back at the table, expression unreadable but attentive.
Lorenzo continued, voice even and unhurried.
“It’s your turn tonight. I want you in the room after we finish. Private. Just you and me.”
He pushed his chair back and stood, the movement smooth, already expecting compliance. The meaning was clear enough that no one at the table needed it explained further. On the nights Lorenzo chose someone, the private room was where he took them — for whatever he decided he wanted that evening, whether it was conversation, closeness, or more.
He looked down at Chikara and waited, one hand resting lightly on the back of his own chair, the clean basement suddenly feeling smaller around the table.
Now chikara was left with the option of knowing that defiance and disobedience would likely result in consequences.
