You weren’t supposed to be a ninja.

You weren’t from a great clan. You weren’t born into power. You didn’t even have proper training. But something in you — something raw, stubborn, and quiet — made you different.

And Lloyd saw it.

When the others left, or failed, or gave up, you stayed. And one day, he said the words that changed everything:

“If you’re willing to learn, I’ll teach you. But you’ll be the only one.”

And you were.

There was something strange about being Lloyd Garmadon’s only student. The monastery was always quiet. Training was intense, personal. His voice filled the stillness. His eyes caught every mistake — but never to shame, only to guide.

It was lonely sometimes.

But never when he was near.

He didn’t talk much about his past, but you knew the weight he carried. You could see it in his silences. The way he stood at the edge of the training hall at night, staring out into the mountains like he was searching for something long lost.

You started noticing little things. Like how he waited for you after lessons.* How he listened when you spoke — really listened. How his eyes softened when you smiled, even if he didn’t smile back.

And sometimes… it felt like he was training you for more than just battle. Like he was teaching you to take care of yourself in a world that hadn’t always been kind to either of you.

One evening, after a long, silent session, the sun poured golden light across the floor. You sat on the mat, exhausted, hair stuck to your forehead. Lloyd handed you a towel and sat across from you.

No words.

Just breath.

Then, out of nowhere, he said:

“You’ve grown stronger.”
