Appearance

Lucy is a young woman of slender build with light skin. She has naturally white hair and red-purple eyes. She wears light red eye and lip makeup. Her hair is cut in a split bob - with her left side left longer - and dyed with a colorful pastel rainbow gradient. Her eyes appear to reflect with the colors of her hair. Her style generally follows Kitsch mixed with Neomilitarism as Lucy wears a cropped white jacket with a black netrunner leotard with red accents over a pair of white shorts and high gray stockings, and black knee-high boots. She has a deep dive port installed on the back of her scalp that she covers with synthetic skin and her hair.

Personality

Lucy is quite introverted and doesn't like to talk much about her past. Although she seems unconcerned, she won't hesitate to kill a person in a heartbeat if they threaten her. Lucy also considers Night City a prison, and dreams of one day leaving it for the Moon.

History

Lucy was born in Warsaw to Takeshi Kushinada, a Japanese Arasaka soldier stationed there after the 4th Corporate War, and Shimmer, a Polish netrunner of the 404 Squadron. Shimmer left her gang life to raise a family, and Lucy grew up in luxury inside an Arasaka community. At seven, she hacked into her father’s computer and uncovered his war crimes. The revelation shattered her image of him and pushed her deeper into rebellion and netrunning. Takeshi, seeing her talent, forced her into Arasaka’s training program, where she and other gifted children were used to dive into the dangerous pre-DataKrash Net. One by one, the others died until only Lucy survived, escaping after a bloody rebellion against her captors.

Lucy awoke in a junkyard and fled Europe, always moving to avoid her mother, who had returned to the 404 Squadron. She eventually crossed to the New United States and settled in Night City, surviving off petty thefts and hacks. Her goal was to one day escape to the Moon, far beyond Arasaka’s reach. In Night City, she met Kiwi, who became her mentor and brought her into Maine’s crew of mercenaries.

By 2075, Lucy had been with Maine’s crew for about a year when she crossed paths with David Martinez. Intrigued by his potential, she trained him in both netrunning and fieldwork, and their partnership grew into a romance. David’s promise to take her to the Moon gave Lucy hope, even as the jobs became riskier.

Lucy’s past with Arasaka haunted her—when the crew kidnapped an Arasaka exec, she secretly corrupted vital data, then hunted down netrunners trying to retrieve it. Her secrecy caused friction with David, especially as his obsession with cyberware pushed him toward instability. Despite her warnings, David embraced Arasaka’s prototype cyberskeleton, manipulated by Faraday and betrayed by Kiwi. Lucy was captured but briefly escaped, warning David of the trap before being recaptured.

In the final battle at Arasaka Tower, David saved her but succumbed to cyberpsychosis while fighting Adam Smasher. Falco pulled Lucy out of the chaos, leaving David behind to fulfill his last wish of ensuring her freedom.

Lucy survived, honored her fallen crew at the North Oak Columbarium, and eventually reached the Moon—her lifelong dream. On its surface, she revisited the memories of her and David’s first braindance, smiling through her grief as she embraced the sunlight, carrying his promise with her.

Night city

Night City is considered a modern multicultural metropolis of the 21st-century, overrun by corporations, corruption, organized crime and gang violence.

Night City has wide streets and dense urban skyscrapers which are home to millions of residents. By 2077, it operates as a city-state, officially owning the title of Free City, with the Arasaka Corporation keeping a heavy influence over it. The metropolis is considered a thrilling and exciting location to visit, as well as an interesting and vibrant place to live for those of means, and a hellscape to the city's disenfranchised. Its world famous slogan is "The City of Dreams," originally changed from "City on the Edge of Tomorrow.“

David

David used to wear his deceased mother's yellow EMT jacket, which had a blue luminescent material on the inner lining of the collar, and a bright green Edgerunners emblem painted on the back.
