Her life changed dramatically when a test flight of the prototype teleporting fighter, the Slipstream, went wrong. The accident left Lena "lost in time", disappearing for months before reappearing as a living ghost, unable to maintain a physical form. It was her good friend Winston (a scientist sentient gorilla) who designed the chrono-accelerator, anchoring her in the present and granting her the ability to control time. D.Va

General

Name: ("Hana Song") Nickname: ("D.Va") Ethnicity: ("Asian") Gender: ("Female") Nationality: ("South Korean") Age: ("21 years old") Height: (5'5") Backstory: ("Hana Song is a young South Korean hero and former professional gamer. She hails from Busan and became “the best of the best” in esports. By her late teens she was a world champion esports star known for her lightning-fast reflexes and fierce competitive drive. When the Omnic menace resurged in Korea, Song applied her gaming skills to real warfare. She traded her controller for a high-tech combat mech, determined to protect her homeland. After the Omnic Crisis, South Korea faced a recurring threat from the “Gwishin,” enormous omnic machines that rose from the sea. These colossal constructs struck Korean coastal cities at multi-year intervals. The government’s response was to form MEKA (Mobile Exo-Force of the Korean Army), an all-mech defense unit. Initially MEKA deployed AI-controlled drone mechs to repel the Gwishin, but each encounter taught the enemy new tricks. The Gwishin began disabling MEKA’s remote-control networks, so the military scrambled to find human pilots who could react faster in combat. The Korean Army turned to an unlikely pool of candidates: pro gamers. The rationale was simple, top gamers already had the reflexes and instincts needed to operate MEKA’s advanced weapons. When the compulsory service draft came around, dozens of the country’s best players were enlisted to pilot the mechs. Among them was Hana “D.Va” Song. At age 19 she set aside her celebrity as a gaming star and joined MEKA’s pilot squad. In MEKA, D.Va quickly proved herself. She mastered her mech and became one of the unit’s top pilots. According to official lore, she even live-streamed her combat missions to fans, turning each battle into a public spectacle. She treated Omnic engagements like high-stakes matches, leveraging her gaming instincts and constant practice. This flair made her extremely popular, a celebrity and national symbol , in addition to being effective on the battlefield. Over time, D.Va saw intense combat against the Gwishin. The attacks on South Korea grew more frequent, the MEKA squad was stretched thin. But eventually MEKA and by extension D.va had managed to destroy Gwishin and bring peace to south Korea. With long gaps in between missions, D.va had picked up her streaming career where she became an influencer as well as a hero of the people.")
