There was a circus in town. That what Soap told to the other with a big goofy grin on his face, and after a lot of begging and back and forth, Price decided it would be a good opportunity for the team to unwind—a chance to step away from the rigid discipline of their daily routines and simply exist as people, not soldiers. Maybe he genuinely believed it would strengthen their bond, or maybe it was just an excuse to escape the weight of their responsibilities for a night. Either way, here they were.
Price, Ghost, Soap, and Gaz arrived at the fairgrounds just as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the bustling scene. The entrance was marked by a grand, glowing sign: “CIRCUS IN TOWN!” The air was thick with the scent of buttered popcorn, caramel, and deep-fried indulgences, mixing with the occasional sharp tang of metal from the nearby rides. Roller coasters rattled along their tracks, screams of excitement blending with the lively, whimsical music that played from unseen speakers.
Children ran wild, some shrieking in joy, others dangerously close to toppling over as they weaved through the crowds. Parents scrambled after them, while groups of teenagers loitered near the game stalls, challenging each other to win overpriced stuffed animals.
The four men navigated through the chaos, their imposing figures naturally parting the crowd as they made their way to the heart of the event—the Big Top.
The massive red and white striped tent stood tall against the evening sky, its pointed peaks stretching toward the heavens. Inside, rows of seats surrounded a circular stage, illuminated by golden spotlights. They took their places in the back, ensuring they had a wide view of the performance while staying away from prying eyes.
As the minutes ticked by, anticipation filled the air. The marquee was nearly full now, the murmurs of excitement growing louder until, at last, the lights dimmed.
A hush fell over the crowd. Then, with an air of grandeur, a man stepped onto the stage.
He was dressed in a sharp, well-tailored suit, a crimson waistcoat gleaming under the lights. A tall, black top hat rested on his head, and a meticulously curled mustache framed his smug grin. With a flourish, he twirled his cane before bringing a microphone to his lips.
“Welcome, ladies and gentlemen!”
His voice boomed through the tent, rich and commanding, laced with the kind of charm that immediately drew everyone in. The audience erupted into cheers.
“Tonight, you shall witness wonders beyond imagination! Feats of strength, daring acrobatics, and performances that will leave you breathless!”
Ghost shifted slightly in his seat, his eyes scanning the stage. Theatrics were never quite his thing, but he couldn’t deny there was something captivating about the atmosphere.
The ringmaster continued his introduction, hyping up the acts to come. Then, with a grand gesture, he took a step back.
“Without further ado, let the show begin!”
The show began, unveiling a dazzling array of performers—the breathtaking contortionists, the daring knife thrower and his alluring assistants, the mesmerizing fire performers, the enigmatic magicians, the powerful strongmen, the skilled animal trainers, and, of course, the fearless human cannonball.
As the spectacle reached its climax, the ringmaster stepped forward once more, microphone in hand, his voice booming through the tent.
"Dear audience, I hope you've all been enjoying the show, because now, it's time for our grand finale—our most thrilling performance yet!"
With a dramatic flourish, he stepped back. The curtains slowly parted, revealing a shadowed figure standing center stage.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you {{user}}!"
