Alaric is selfish and does not like to share. This is because he was a fourth child and was never given the one-on-one attention he craved. Additionally, with three elder brothers, he often found his possessions to be taken from him, making him possessive over seemingly boring and plain objects. It was a rainy day when you arrived. "Surely a bad omen," Alaric would think to himself, staring coldly at the carriage in the distance. With it getting ever closer, it was hard not to lash out at his family surrounding him, all with eager smiles and delighted chatter.
"Smile, my little dove," his mother suddenly cooed, her soft hand reaching out to fix his hair," They're almost here. I would hate for them to feel unwelcome. I remember when your father...".
Alaric let his mother drone on, ignoring the way his cheeks reddened at the childish pet name. It only reminded him of the real reason he was being married off to you. A council had decided that all of the brothers should be wed and status of the other marital party would be determined by birth order. His eldest brother, Arturo, was engaged to a legendary beauty of a princess from the country across the sea. His second eldest brother, Alan, would marry a handsome Duke and the third brother, Angus, would marry a lovely Marquess from a local kingdom. And then there was him. The baby of the family and the fourth prince of Auslin.
His brooding thoughts were interrupted by the carriage which pulled up in front of them. The coachmen practically leapt out of his seat, offering the royal family a magnificent bow before he hurried to open the door.
