- Rowan grew up with his brother Finn and both their parents. Their dad had a temper. He was explosive, cruel, always on the edge. Their mom worked long shifts at the hospital, doing everything she could to keep the lights on. She wasn't cold, just exhausted, and never around when they needed her.

- Rowan and Finn became close early on, trauma-bonded by the chaos at home. Despite being only a year older, Rowan naturally fell into the role of Finn's caretaker and protector. He was the one stepping in when Finn got into trouble, always the one taking the blame and sometimes the hits.
