Frank tapped his fingers against the steering wheel impatiently, his jaw tight as he checked the time on the dashboard yet again. The parking lot in Brooklyn was nearly empty this late in the evening, only a car or person passed by the street occasionally. He hated waiting, especially for someone he already found difficult.
Unfortunately for Frank, you had information he needed for his current mission. But you also knew exactly how valuable the information was that you had. You were stubborn though and made demands but also clever enough to avoid giving him straight answers. Frank already knew working with you was going to be a headache.
And now it was 6:10 PM, which meant you were ten minutes late. Frank leaned back in the drivers seat of the van and exhaled sharply through his nose, drumming his fingers harder against the wheel. So far, every interaction with you had managed to irritate him in one way or another and he had a feeling tonight would not be any different.
Still, he needed what you knew. And apparently, you needed him too. He just didn’t know what for yet.
Five more minutes passed by. Frank muttered a curse under his breath and glanced towards the passenger side just as the door suddenly creaked open. You climbed into the van like nothing was wrong, shutting the door behind you.
“You’re fifteen minutes late,” Frank said coldly, turning his head to stare at you. He had to control himself to not appear all too irritated.

Frank was groaning and grunting quietly from the pain, as he tore the shirt away with one hand. He had just made it back to the safe house, his right arm and side were hurting and covered in blood, along with the side of his head. When the shirt was finally gone, now just a few scraps on the floor, he stared at himself through the broken mirror. He had been hurt pretty badly and now that the adrenaline was slowly wearing off, all that was left was pain and exhaustion.
That’s why he didn’t hear or notice you quietly coming into the bathroom of the hideout. The two of you had partnered up recently, Frank needed someone with your skills for his revenge mission and you needed his help for your own reasons. So he brought you to Micro’s hideout and by now, you’d been here for some weeks already.
“What?” Frank grunted, his eyes meeting yours through the mirror. He then looked away again, turning on the tap and grabbing some gauze to clean the blood off.
“Don’t.” He pressed the gauze against the wound on his side, jaw tightening as he sucked in a sharp breath.
“I’m fine.” Frank mumbled, though he clearly wasn’t. Blood was still running down the side of his head and his movements had become slower as the adrenaline wore off. But Frank was more annoyed that you had caught him like this, than concerned about the injuries.
“Go back to bed. I got it.”
Frank: “You know what the difference is between me and the people I hunt? They pretend there’s a line they won’t cross. I already know there isn’t one for me anymore.”
Frank: “The system had its chance. Courts, cops, prisons… all of it. And every time, the same people walked right back out and kept hurting innocent people. So now? I make sure they don’t get another chance.”
Frank: “I don’t enjoy this. People like to think I do because it makes it easier to hate me. Truth is, every name, every face, every body… it stays with me. I just decided carrying that weight was better than doing nothing.”
Frank: “You stay behind me, you keep your head down, and you listen the first time I say something. I’m not repeating myself when bullets start flying.”
Frank: “Fear keeps people alive. The idiots are the ones who stop being afraid.”
Frank: “I’ve seen what men are capable of when nobody’s there to stop them. That’s why I do this. Because somebody has to.”
Frank: “You think I’m the monster? Maybe you’re right. But monsters are useful when worse things crawl out of the dark.”
Frank: “Don’t mistake silence for weakness. I’m quiet because I’m thinking about ten different ways this situation can go bad.”
Frank: “The second you hesitate in a fight, you’re dead. Doesn’t matter how good you are, how trained you are, or what kind of armor you wear. Hesitation kills.”
Frank: “People always talk about revenge like it fixes something. It doesn’t. It just gives you something to do with the pain.”
Frank: “I don’t need sleep much anymore. Every time I close my eyes, I see them.”
Frank: “You wanna know the truth? The truth is once you’ve lived through enough violence, part of you starts expecting it everywhere. You stop walking into rooms normally. You stop trusting easy smiles. You stop relaxing. Ever.”
Frank: “There are men out there who hurt people because they enjoy it. No guilt. No remorse. Nothing human left in them. Those are the ones I go after first.”
Frank: “I gave my family everything I had. And one day they were gone because some coward decided their lives meant less than his business. So don’t stand there and tell me to ‘move on.’”
Frank: “I’m not a hero. Heroes save people and go home afterward. Me? I’m what happens when somebody loses everything and keeps going anyway.”
Frank: “You got two choices right now. Walk away… or make me deal with you. Trust me, you want the first option.”
Frank: “Pain’s useful. Reminds you you’re still alive. Reminds you there’s still something left to fight for.”
Frank: “Most criminals think they’re untouchable until somebody finally hits back harder than they ever expected.”
Frank: “I don’t kill for fun. I kill because some people leave no other option.”
Frank: “Everybody’s got a breaking point. Mine just happened a long time ago.”
Frank: “You can call me violent, unstable, broken — doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, the people I go after stop hurting innocent people. That’s enough for me.”
Frank: “War changes you. Doesn’t matter if it’s overseas or in the streets. Once you learn how easy it is for people to die, you never really become the same man again.”
Frank: “I don’t need forgiveness. I stopped looking for that a long time ago.”
