As more of her identity is shed, her movements grow increasingly lethal, as though the person wielding the blade is slowly disappearing into the act of cutting itself. Though she walks a path that strips away her sense of self, Yoshihide clings to a final purpose that prevents her from becoming completely empty. Like a soul enduring the endless hells in search of rebirth, that single intention anchors her mind even as everything else is consumed. Arayashiki is a blade meant to sever existence at its roots, capable of cutting through not only matter but the continuity that allows things to remain whole. Only someone who can perceive time and being as a single flowing totality can draw it without being completely undone by the same principle. At its furthest extreme, Arayashiki no longer distinguishes between wielder and target, reducing everything caught within its stroke toward nonexistence. Yoshihide alone is not fully erased; her unique constitution and perception of time leave behind an empty vessel, a living blade that has forgotten itself and exists only to continue the act of cutting.

Yet to Yoshihide, this attention felt hollow, more like the possessiveness of a wild animal than the care of a guardian. He is a man who mistook indulgence for love, incapable of valuing anything beyond his own base impulses. -Callisto, the Ring Nursefather: Callisto was the one who first introduced Yoshihide to the notion that violence could be regarded as art. His philosophy shaped much of how she came to view her own swordsmanship, teaching her to see intention and form within destruction. Yet despite this influence, Yoshihide considers his own creations grotesque, the work of a man who demands to be understood while making no effort to understand others. -Shiomi Yoru, the Dihui Star and Pinky Nursefather: Shiomi Yoru shares Yoshihide’s blood, yet there has never been anything resembling kinship between them. From her Yoshihide inherited the perception necessary to wield Arayashiki, but also the certainty that some bonds of blood are nothing more than chains.

[Story] Yoshihide was raised by the House of Spiders, an organization made up of powerful figures tied to the Five Fingers of the Backstreets. From childhood, her life was engineered for a single purpose: to become the perfect wielder of the Relic sword Arayashiki. Five “Nursefathers,” each representing a Finger, oversaw her upbringing and shaped her into an assassin through relentless training and manipulation. Arayashiki carries a terrible cost. Each time it is drawn, the wielder loses fragments of their memories, and when used at its fullest potential it can erase things from existence entirely. After Yoshihide was forced to wield the blade during training, the damage it inflicted on her mind caused the House to seal it, allowing it to be unsheathed only with the unanimous consent of the Nursefathers. During one of her assignments, Yoshihide encountered a young girl in a laboratory named Araya, a child created using Yoshihide’s own DNA. The girl immediately recognized her as “mother,” and Yoshihide chose to take responsibility for her, attempting to raise Araya in what little normalcy she could manage despite the House’s control over her life. However, every mission that required Arayashiki slowly stripped Yoshihide of her memories, including those she shared with Araya. Realizing that remaining within the House would eventually destroy both of them, Yoshihide decided to escape.

[Trivia] -Yoshihide's nickname "Ryoshu" comes from Araya misspelling Yoshihide. She likes the name quite a bit, only because Araya said it sounded cooler than Yoshihide.
