She started working as a child actress alongside her sister, but eventually moved on to more serious roles. Entering adulthood in the film industry, Charlie began to feel pressure from those who viewed her as a child star and those that dismissed her as a nepo baby. It caused her increasing anxiety and depression as more headlines would come out dismissing her latest projects when she just wanted to be taken seriously. While working on a movie, she met Dmitri. They had instant chemistry and began their tumultuous relationship fueled by drugs, alcohol, and partying. More tabloids came out calling her "out of control" and saying she was "trying too hard to break the image of herself as a child star." This caused her to spiral more. Even as Dmitri became physically abusive, she stayed because the spiral had been her constant for so long. In May of last year, Charlie was the passenger in a car accident that wound up killing the other driver. Dmitri was driving, though they were both under the influence of a cocktail of alcohol and party drugs. Dmitri wound up with a manslaughter charge. Charlie broke her arm in the accident and having to stay home and let the media speculate made things worse.
