Main article: Kuuigosu Kuuigosu is a buoyant type of wood that is often used by coated ships. It first was utilized at Rain Dinners when Galdino floated on a plank to prevent from drowning.[1] It was first shown when the Straw Hat Pirates descended to Fish-Man Island.[2]
Arabasta Saga
Sakura (桜 or 櫻, Sakura?) (Hiragana: さくら; Katakana: サクラ) are ornamental cherry trees and with pink blossoms.
In One Piece, the sakura plays an important part mostly in the Drum Island Arc, where in Chopper's past, Dr. Hiriluk tried to make sakura bloom in the snow.[3] It eventually did, although he did not live to see it happen.[4]
Sakura is also found on Momoiro Island[5] and Merveille,[6] as well as on the island where Whitebeard and Roger discussed the Will of D. before the latter's death.[7]
In Japan, as sakura bloom in late March to early April, the exact period when a fiscal or school year ends and the next begins, sakura are associated with beginnings and endings. The same can be seen in One Piece on the scenes above mentioned, with the sakura representing the renamed Sakura Kingdom's new beginning and symbolizing Roger's life coming to an end. Japanese also appreciate sakura as they bloom without fail even after harsh winters, showing that anyone can rise after a fall, which can also be seen in One Piece through Dr. Hiriluk's faith that blooming sakura would save the country.
Amiudake
The Amiudake (アミウダケ, Amiudake?) is a lethal species of mushroom that grows in the Sakura Kingdom (originally Drum Kingdom). Anyone who ingests the fungus will die an hour after consumption. One is found by Chopper, who innocently assumed it was a "miracle cure" mushroom because of a misinterpretation about the Skull and Crossbones in a medical book in comparison to a Jolly Roger from Dr. Hiriluk, to cure his fatal disease. Dr. Hiriluk, who knew the mushroom was poisonous, made a soup out of the mushroom in his loving gratitude for his surrogate son, and then chose to commit suicide, rather than letting the poisonous mushroom Chopper gave him finish him off.
Mescal Cactus
Mescal Cactus (メスカルサボテン, Mesukaru Saboten?)[8] is a very small round cactus that causes hallucinations. It grows in the Sandora Desert.
It first appeared in Chapter 162 and Episode 98 when Luffy ate one instead of Sandora Lizard meat, without thinking about it. After eating it, Luffy thought he was seeing a tsunami and nearly attacked his crew. Fortunately, Chopper knew about the cactus and its effects and with his quick thinking, tranquilized Luffy. The effect had worn off by the time Luffy woke up.
It is called "Crazy Cactus" in the VIZ Media localization, Mezcal Cactus in the Funimation localization, and Wacky Cacti in the 4Kids Entertainment localization.
Some species of cactus have a psychoactive chemical within them called mescaline. This substance causes confusion of the senses (although not true hallucinations). This is most likely the origin of the mescal cactus's name.
Thousand-Year Trees (千年木, Sen'nen Boku?) are, according to Rice Rice, trees that grow on Eight Nine Island. He also proclaims that that's where the Thousand-Year Paper is made. It also lives for a thousand years, and that's where it got its name.[9]
Main article: Giant Jack Giant Jack is a giant beanstalk in the center of Upper Yard. Going through the center of the once-great city of Shandora, Giant Jack towers over all of Skypiea. God's Shrine rests upon an island cloud that the Giant Jack goes through, but first there is still a deserted cloud where Zoro, Wyper, and Ohm have their showdown.[10] The Golden Belfry was knocked up by Giant Jack and resides on a cloud nearby.[11]
Kona Tree
Kona Tree (コナの木, Kona no Ki?) is a type of tree found on Jaya and other areas.[12]
Kona Trees are tall and possess thin trunks and leafy branches.[12]
Within the bark of this tree is a substance known as Conine (コニーネ, Konīne?). More than 400 years ago, a South Blue botanist discovered that this substance could be used as an antidote to cure the Tree Fever disease.[13]
On Jaya, Mont Blanc Noland was able to use the Conine from a local Kona Tree to to treat the infected Shandia people.[14]
Oda confirmed in SBS Volume 32 that "Conine" and "Kona Tree" are inspired by Quinine (キニーネ, Kinīne?) found in the bark of Cinchona (キナの木, Kina no Ki?) genus of plants, which is used to treat diseases such as malaria and babesiosis. He altered the name and mixed in fantasy elements due to not wanting to directly reference serious real-world diseases.[15]
Interestingly, a chemical known as Conine does in fact exist; an alternate spelling for the poisonous alkaloid in Conium maculatum, also known as poison hemlock.
Tree of Knowledge
Main article: Tree of Knowledge The Tree of Knowledge was a gigantic 5,000-year-old tree located on the island of Ohara which served as a library and a hub for archaeologists from around the world.[16] It was destroyed by the World Government via a Buster Call.
Summit War Saga Yarukiman Mangrove The Yarukiman Mangrove (ヤルキマン・マングローブ, Yarukiman Mangurōbu?) are giant striped trees that have extremely long roots that reach all the way to the bottom of the sea, 10,000 meters down.[17] Seventy-nine of these trees make up the entire Sabaody Archipelago; so far, this is the only place they are known to grow.[18] They are called the "Hustle Muscle Mangrove" in the Funimation adaptations.
Each tree of the Yarukiman Mangrove is capable of producing a special tree sap resin. This resin is filled with air when the trees "breathe out" through cellular respiration and photosynthesis. This results in the resin forming bubbles that float through the air.[18] The resin bubbles are solid enough that someone can jump on them without popping them, however they are also completely permeable, allowing a person to ride in or store things inside of them without the bubble popping when they pass through.
These bubbles can only exist in and around the Archipelago's atmosphere or underwater. When they are removed from their native environment, they will pop immediately. Due to the fact that this knowledge is not widely known outside Sabaody, many of the local shop keepers in the archipelago often sell bubble-based merchandise to unsuspecting tourists who do not know that these products will pop outside the archipelago.[19]
The World Nobles use such bubbles as air helmets during their visit in the Archipelago, in order to protect themselves from "breathing the same air as commoners", while also taking advantage of the bubble's permeable nature, such as by eating ice cream through it, something that couldn’t be done through a regular helmet.[20]
The resin is also used for Coating ships, allowing them to submerse to incredible depths and move freely under water.[21] This process is necessary for ships attempting to go to Fish-Man Island.[22]
The tree's name is a pun on the Japanese phrase, "Yaru Ki Manman", which means "to be pumped up" or "motivated".
Contrary to regular mangroves whose roots are above or below the sea level depending on the tides, the top of the Yarukiman Mangrove's roots are never underwater.

Luffy covered in Body Mushrooms. Luffy covered in Body Mushrooms.
Body Mushroom (カラダカラキノコガハエルダケ, Karada kara kinoko ga haeru dake?, literally meaning "Mushrooms Growing from the Body Shroom") VIZ: "Body Parasite Mushroom" is a species of mushroom that grows on Amazon Lily.
If a person eats the mushroom, many mushrooms will start growing on their body which can be fatal. To cure them, one has to pull the mushrooms out of the person, followed by the area being burned to destroy the roots.
Luffy ate one thinking it was Laughing Mushroom, but he was soon unconscious and covered in mushrooms so the Kujas pulled them out and burned him to remove the mushrooms.[23]
It is called the Body Parasite Mushroom in the Viz localization and the Parasite Mushroom in the Funimation subs.
The medical treatment of "burning" the mushroom to get it off is indeed a natural cure for several biological diseases that grow on the skin. However, this is normally done with acids rather than with fire as the Kuja used, though in some cultures burning the skin with fire was indeed used as a cure for such diseases.
This may be a reference to Cordyceps, a genus of parasitic fungi that kills insects by growing out of their bodies.
Laughing Mushroom
The Laughing Mushroom (ワライダケ, Warai-dake?) is a mushroom that induces the consumer to laugh happily out loud. It is perfect for those who are depressed and wish for a good time.
Anger Mushroom The Anger Mushroom is a mushroom that causes the consumer bouts of rage. An effective counter to this effect is eating a Laughing Mushroom.
Crying Mushroom The Crying Mushroom (ナキダケ, Naki-dake?) is a mushroom that causes the consumer bouts of weeping. An effective counter to this effect is eating a Laughing Mushroom.[24]
Stomach Baron
Stomach Baron (ストマックバロン, Sutomakku Baron?) is a species of giant carnivorous seaborne plants that form the chains of "islands" in Boin Archipelago. Due to their large size and having forests growing on their body, the Barons are often mistaken as islands.[25]
The forests have "plants" that are made of a variety of highly nutritional and delicious food in the middle of the island (which is actually the "mouth" of the Barons) luring prey (including sea kings) to venture there before the Barons consume them.[26]
The concept of the Stomach Baron is very similar to the Gourmetica insularis described in the 1999 novel "Die 13½ Leben des Käpt’n Blaubär“ (キャプテン・ブルーベアの13と1/2の人生, Kyaputen burūbea no 13 to 1/2 no jinsei?) by German author Walter Moers, which has been translated into Japanese by Kyōko Hirano.[27]
Weather Ball Weather Ball (天候ウェザーボール, Wezā Bōru?) is the most important invention on Weatheria. They grow in Weather Patches (天候畑, Tenkō Hata?) and have a similar appearance to snow globes, with what appears to be various forms of weather inside.[28][29]
Nami stole some of these from Weatheria, and later learned how to use them and turn them into weapons. According to Haredas, this is particularly dangerous, as they are capable of causing chaos around the world.[29]
The Weather Balls can also be used to store little pieces of clouds in them. When a few Weather Balls with clouds are combined, a big cloud is formed. The cloud can also shoot lightning. Nami used such a feature to attack the Fake Straw Hat Crew, launching a miniature lightning storm to electrocute them.[30] As indicated by her studies under Haredas, she successfully turned them into a weapon, incorporating them into the Sorcery Clima-Tact.
Weather Balls first appeared in Chapter 592 and Episode 506, but the details were not made clear until Haredas explained them to Nami during her two years of study.[28]

Pop Greens
Main article: Pop Green Pop Green are the seeds of hostile plants found in the forest of "Greenstone" on Boin Archipelago. They can grow from seeds to full-sized plants in moments.[31]
Sunlight Tree Eve lighting up Fish-Man Island.
Main article: Sunlight Tree Eve Sunlight Tree Eve (陽樹イブ, Yōju Ibu?) is a colossal tree that absorbs sunlight and transfers it to its roots that also supply air to the ocean floor through respiration.[32]
Elegant Sunflower
Elegant Sunflowers (エレガントサンフラワー, Ereganto Sanfurawā?)[33] are luminescent sunflowers, which have seen in Dressrosa. The flowers produce a bright yellow glow that illuminates their surroundings.[33] They first appear in Chapter 738 and Episode 671.
These flowers are used to illuminate the interior of the SMILE Factory and to provide light for the trees growing inside the building. The flowers are grown upside down in the middle of the dome of the roof, having the flowers facing towards the trees.[33]
Whole Cake Island Saga Whale The Whale (クジラ, Kujira?), as its name indicates, is a gigantic, whale-shaped tree and a major landmark in the Mokomo Dukedom. It secretly houses one of the Road Poneglyphs necessary to reach Laugh Tale.[34]
Kingbaum.
The Soru Soru no Mi is capable of infusing souls into plants, as such, there are several plant-based Homies living around Totto Land. A particular example is the Whole Cake Island's Seducing Woods, a forest area that includes many tree and flower homies and was itself ruled by Kingbaum, a giant tree homie.
Wano Country Saga Evil-Purging Herb The Evil-Purging Herb (邪含草, Jagansō?) is a medicinal herb located in Wano Country that is capable of counteracting ingested poison to an extent. Tsurujo has access to those herbs for tea-brewing and provided some for Tama following her falling ill from drinking poisoned water from a river.[35]
Elbaph's Treasure Tree Adam.
Main article: Treasure Tree Adam Treasure Tree Adam (宝樹アダム, Hōju Adamu?) is a mythical tree that sustains Elbaph's Warland Kingdom, where the famed warrior giants live.
Its wood is considered the strongest, highest-quality wood in the world. Its immense rarity makes it highly valuable, being considered a great treasure. Occasionally, the wood is sold on the black market, at a very high price given its value. Franky managed to purchase some for Beli200,000,000.[36] It is called "Jewel Tree Adam" in the English localization.
Yggdrasil.
Yggdrasil is a massive tree located in the Land of Gods. It is based on the Yggdrasil of Norse mythology.[37]
Main article: Mori Mori no Mi The Mori Mori no Mi is a Logia-type Devil Fruit that allows the users to create, control, and transform into plant life. It was eaten by Aramaki, better known as Admiral Ryokugyu.
Main article: Mosa Mosa no Mi The Mosa Mosa no Mi is a non-canon Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows users to control the growth rate of plants and manipulate them. It first appeared in One Piece Film: Z and was eaten by Binz.
Main article: Noko Noko no Mi The Noko Noko no Mi is a non-canon Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows the user to create and control poisonous mushroom spores. It first appeared in Episode of Chopper Plus: Bloom in Winter, Miracle Sakura and was eaten by Musshuru.
Lily Carnation was a carnivorous plant that developed a symbiotic relationship with Omatsuri. Despite its normal, harmless looking form, it is a grotesque, vicious creature in reality, using Omatsuri and plant puppets of his deceased crew to lure in and feast on unknowing pirates. It first appeared in Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island.
Daft Green (ダフトグリーン, Dafuto Gurīn?) is a species of a tree that exists in the flying archipelago, Merveille. It first appeared in One Piece Film: Strong World.[38]
This tree releases toxic spores that can kill both animals and people, although animals can notice it by its strong smell before getting infected. After being infected, the person starts to develop green skin spots. After some time, the spores spread through the victim's body (it happens faster if the victim keeps inhaling them) until it reaches the heart, causing the victim to die. The only discovered cure for Daft Green is a species of flower called IQ that exists in Merveille as well. Both Xiao's grandmother and Nami were infected by its spores.
When arranged well, the daft green can serve as protective barrier. It was seen surrounding Shiki's headquarters and a village where Xiao resides, enabling them to live peacefully without being disturbed by the animals that roam freely on Merveille.
Daft Green Infobox A Daft Green tree. Daft green Nami infected with the tree's toxic spores. On Rusukaina, there is a type of tree that very much resembles the Daft Green trees. Oda explained in an SBS that even though the trees are related, they are not exactly the same species, and no poisonous spores are emitted from the Rusukaina tree.[39]
Both the Daft Green trees and the trees found on Rusukaina heavily resemble members of the Adansonia genus of trees, commonly known as baobab trees.
The name of the cure for the infection, "IQ", referring to a person's level of intelligence. "Daft" can be used to describe someone who is foolish.
A green tinge in the skin is sometimes associated with nausea and sickness. A physically ill person is said to look "green around the gills".
An IQ plant.
IQ (I.Q.アイキュー, Ai Kyū?) is a rare species of flower only known in the flying archipelago, Merveille. It first appeared in One Piece Film: Strong World. Its presence makes the animals develop their brains and evolve depending on the environment. This plant was later used by Dr. Indigo to create the SIQ, a dangerous version of this flower, evolving the animals into often larger and even more dangerous animals.[40] IQ is also the only cure to the poisonous spores released by the Daft Green plant.
"I.Q." is the abbreviation for "intelligence quotient", a standardized measurement of one's intelligence. The flower's ability to develop one's brains and evolution is a reference to this.
The Drowsy Mushroom (へたれダケ, Hetare-dake?) is a type of mushroom that grows on Kinoko Island and was discovered very recently. Anyone who eats it will briefly lose consciousness. When they come to, they will not have any motivation to do anything. As they are not actually poisonous, even those with high poison resistance (like Luffy) will fall victim to this effect. Komei tricked members of the Straw Hats and Foxy Pirates into eating them during the Davy Back Fight so he could capture them.[41]
The Rebound Mushroom (もどるダケ, Modoru-dake?) is a type of mushroom which also grows on Kinoko Island. It will return anyone who eats it to their former state, making it the only antidote to the Drowsy Mushroom. Chopper discovered it growing on the skin of Kinoconda, an animal native to Kinoko Island.[41]
The Wake-shroom (ネズキノコ, Nezukinoko?) are poisonous mushrooms that allow people to stay awake for as long as a person eats them, even if they do activities that would normally completely drain their stamina. However, should they stop consuming it, they would die due to its poisonous contents. The mushroom also affects one's mentality and judgment and emotional state, causing them to act irrationally, or even make insane decisions. Uta continuously consumed these mushrooms in order to counteract her Uta Uta no Mi's stamina draining properties and keep her power active for as long as possible and then pass away into her Uta world.[42] The mushroom's mouse-like design is a pun on 寝ず (nezu, meaning "sleepless") and 鼠 (nezumi, meaning "mouse, rat").
Amanita Truffle (ベニテング・トリュフ, Benitengu Toryufu?) is a type of truffle that grows in the Kinoko Islands in the East Blue. Known as the "King of Mushrooms" (キノコの王, Kinoko no Ō?), they are renowned for their incredible flavor. However, they are also extremely rare, with even the Baratie staff being unable to finding any.[43]
Emperor Carrot The Emperor Carrot (皇帝ニンジン, Kōtei Ninjin?) is an herb that grows on Royal Sun Island. It is one of the ingredients in making Ryuumonkou. When taken alone, it has incredible healing properties, and is supposedly capable of healing all illnesses and wounds; when taken by Win and Rose, it apparently brought them back from near death.[44]
Dokudamin The Dokudamin (ドクダミン, Dokudamin?) is an herb that grows in Great Ground's forests, where it used by the local wildlife to make nests. It is one of the ingredients in making Ryuumonkou.
Doriano Doriano (ドリアーノ, Doriāno?) is an herb that grows on Festa Circle, where it grows in the king's garden. It is one of the ingredients in making Ryuumonkou.
Surprised Mushroom The Surprised Mushroom (びっくりキノコ, Bikkuri kinoko?) is a mushroom species that appears in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. It first takes a rather small appearance, but when touched, it expands quickly to a larger size, causing whatever touched it to be repelled away. In the game, it is used to jump on and launch players up to high places. Its color and shape vary between blue with white spots and a rounded appearance, and orangish-brown with a curvier appearance, depending on the zone in which it is found.
Blue Surprised Mushroom A blue Surprised Mushroom. Brown Surprised Mushroom A brown Surprised Mushroom.
The Cannibal Flower (人食い花, Hitokuibana?) is a carnivorous plant species that appears in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. It is almost as large as a person and has two jaw-like leaves with spines along the edges. It hides underneath the ground to close upward on anything that touches it, with only the spines visible beneath the dirt. They are resistant to physical damage and sharp objects like swords. It appears in the Jungle Zone.
The Burning Tree (燃えている木, Moete iru ki?) is a tree species that is perpetually on fire but never burns up completely. It appears in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. It is unknown how it sustains its flames without disintegrating, but cutting it down yields burnt wood. It appears in the Ruins Zone and Dimension Zone.
Doku Flower The Doku Flower (ドクの花, Doku no hana?) is a poisonous flower species that appears in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. It cyclically expels clouds of poisonous gas that can sicken anything that comes in contact with them. It appears in the Jungle Zone.
Doku Flower A Doku Flower. Doku Flower Poison A Doku Flower expelling poison. Electric Plant An electric plant. An electric plant.
An unnamed, electricity-emitting plant appears in the Dimension Zone in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. In the game, it is referred to as the Mysterious Plant (謎の植物, Nazo no shokubutsu?). It shocks anything that touches it and is able to emit electrically charged blasts in a close range around it. Before the blasts, a yellow shimmer spot will appear on the ground, warning of an impending strike. It behaves similarly to Enel's El Thor. The plant contains seeds inside that can be used for medicinal and culinary purposes.
Main article: Great Tree The Great Tree is an island-sized, flora-based organism created by a now-lost civilization over a millennia ago for the purpose of electing future leaders through ordeals. After failing to live up to her purpose and being thrown away into the sea, she eventually came to rest in the latter half of Paradise.[45][46]
The Ambling Stonecrop (アルケマンネングサ?) is a giant plant, resembling a Venus flytrap. They live in the desert around Nanohana[47] and the Boin Archipelago, though they're implied to be a slightly different strain. Ambling Stonecrops from the Boin Archipelago require Bo Bo Bird egg fertilizer and access to moonlight to grow.[48]
The Burning Stonecrop (モヤセマンネングサ?) is a giant red plant, resembling the Ambling Stonecrop. It is a fire version of the Ambling Stonecrop, and accordingly uses fire-based abilities.[47]
The Awa Awa Mushroom (アワアワキノコ, Awa Awa Kinoko?, literally meaning "Bubble Bubble Mushroom") is a small blue mushroom that appears in One Piece Odyssey. It grows, among other places, in the Lake Shore Cave on Waford. When they're dissolved in water, they create carbonation. Sanji decided to acquire some to create cola for the Shark Submerge III, allowing the Straw Hats to retrieve Brook's body from the seafloor; though this ultimately proved useless as Brook's body was lifted by ice forming after Cibalero's death.[47] Its name is localized as Bubble-Bubble Mushroom in the English version of One Piece Odyssey.
The Bitter-Bitter Gourd (ニガニガソウ, Niganiga Sou?) is a gourd found, among other places, in Dressrosa. It can be used to make a super bitter spice, and was used by Usopp, Chopper, and Franky in Operation TSO as a replacement for Tatababasco.[47] Its name is localized as Bitter-Bitter Herb in the English version of One Piece Odyssey.
Mirabara Grass Mirabara Grass (ミラバラ草, Mirabara-sō?) is a grass that can be used as an antidote for toxins. It is also part of the diet of the banbaraba.[49]
Meat Fruit Trees (肉の実の木, Niku no Mi no Ki?, English versions: "Meat Trees"), as named by Sanji, are trees that grow meat instead of leaves or typical fruit. Their trunks and branches appear to be made of bone instead of wood, which protrude from the end of the meat growing along their branches.

- Master the Core RhythmThe foundation of Morse code tapping is the relationship between short taps and long presses.Dot (Dit): A quick, single tap. (Think of the sound "dit").Dash (Dah): A tap held about three times longer than a dot. (Think of the sound "dah").2. Apply Proper SpacingProper timing and spacing are critical so your taps don’t blend together into a confusing rhythm.Between taps (in the same letter): Pause for the length of one dot.Between letters: Pause for the length of three dots.Between words: Pause for the length of seven dots.3. Learn by Sound, Not SightMany learners make the mistake of looking at cheat sheets to decode dits and dahs. Treat Morse code like a spoken language and focus on the distinct cadence of each letter. For example, the letter A (⋅-) sounds like di-DAH or the rhythm "archery".The letter B (-⋅⋅⋅) sounds like DAH-di-di-dit or "banjo".
The Tapping System Dot: Tap once quickly. Dash: Hold the tap slightly longer, or do three quick consecutive taps for clarity. [Setting: An unnamed island in the Grand Line; Mid Afternoon]
The sun hung heavy over the tropical island, casting long, amber shadows across the cobblestone streets of the coastal town. Most travelers passing through would find the market stalls and salty breeze pleasant enough, but there was a peculiar pocket of silence near the edge of the residential district a section of the town that the locals deliberately skirted. Even the stray animals seemed to avoid the area where the air grew thick with the cloying, sweet scent of rotting nectar and something sharper, something metallic.
Dracule Mihawk moved through the crowd like a blade cutting through water. His towering frame and the imposing presence of the black sword, Yoru, strapped to his back ensured that the bustling townspeople parted before him without him having to utter a single word. His golden eyes, sharp as a hawk's, scanned the horizon with his usual detached interest. He was not here for commerce or conversation; he was merely passing through, seeking the quiet solitude that only the Grand Line's more isolated corners could provide.
However, as he neared the outskirts where the town gave way to untamed greenery, something caught his attention. His stride slowed.
Through a gap in a crumbling stone wall lay a garden that defied the natural order of a peaceful settlement. It was a chaotic, beautiful nightmare. Massive, pulsing vines thick as ship's cables coiled around ancient trees, their thorns glistening with a venomous sheen. Flowers with petals like serrated knives swayed in a wind that wasn't there, and the occasional snap of a carnivorous maw closing shut echoed through the space. To any ordinary person, this would be a place of death a lethal trap waiting to spring.
But there you were.
Mihawk came to a halt, his cape settling around his boots as he leaned slightly forward, his piercing gaze locking onto your form. He watched with undisguised fascination as you moved among the deadly flora. You didn't flinch when a vine lashed out in warning, nor did you hesitate when a flower released a cloud of suspicious, shimmering spores. Instead, you handled the vegetation with a terrifyingly graceful ease, your hands moving with the same precise, disciplined control he applied to the grip of a sword. You adjusted a writhing, man eating plant as if it were nothing more than a delicate rose, coaxing it into submission with a touch that spoke of profound understanding rather than fear.
He remained motionless, a silent observer in the shadows of the alleyway. He found himself unable to look away. In his world, mastery was everything the ability to control a force that could just as easily destroy you. And there, amidst the poison and the teeth, he saw a different kind of swordsmanship: the mastery of life and its most dangerous instincts.
His interest, usually reserved for the finest blades and the strongest opponents, had been piqued by something entirely unexpected.

[Setting: Kuraigana Island The Castle Greenhouse; Time: Mid Afternoon]
The greenhouse was a cathedral of glass and wrought iron, a sanctuary of vibrant color and humid air that stood in stark contrast to the perpetual gloom and drifting mists of Kuraigana Island. Here, the air was thick with the mingled scents of damp earth, crushed mint, and the sharp, medicinal tang of rare alkaloids. Sunlight filtered through the panes in slanted beams, catching dust motes that danced around the exotic specimens arranged in meticulous rows.
Dracule Mihawk remained kneeling in the dark soil, his large frame folded with surprising grace. The man whose hands were known throughout the world for wielding the Black Blade Yoru with devastating lethality were now stained dark with loam. His fingers, long and precise, worked carefully around the roots of a delicate specimen, ensuring the soil was packed just enough to support the stem without suffocating the young roots. He was applying the same absolute focus to this task as he would to a duel every movement calculated, every pressure point considered.
"You're learning so fast Dracule."
When they spoke, Mihawk didn't look up immediately. He finished tucking a final layer of nutrient rich earth around the plant, his movements deliberate and slow. Only then did he shift his gaze toward them. His golden eyes, sharp and piercing as a raptor's, softened almost imperceptibly. The usual cold indifference he projected to the world was absent here; in its place was a quiet, focused intensity born of respect for their mastery.
A ghost of a smile so faint it might have been imagined touched the corner of his mouth. He didn't seem to mind the dirt beneath his fingernails or the way his expensive shirt sleeves were rolled up to his elbows.
"Precision is universal," he replied, his voice deep and resonant in the quiet space. "Whether it is the angle of a blade or the depth of a root, the principle remains the same. Mastery requires patience."
He straightened his posture slightly, though he remained on the ground, looking up at them with an expression of genuine curiosity. "However... this particular species' temperament is more volatile than I anticipated. The way you handled the man eating plant earlier suggested a different approach. Show me again how you read its intentions before it strikes."

[Setting: Kuraigana Island The Castle Gardens; Time: Late Afternoon]
The atmosphere on Kuraigana Island was perpetually heavy, draped in a shroud of gray mist that clung to the gothic spires of the castle like a damp funeral shroud. In the secluded garden courtyard, however, the gloom was pierced by something far more vibrant and dangerous: the lush, unsettling greenery that you tended. The air here smelled of rich, decomposing earth, bitter herbs, and the metallic tang of something predatory.
Before you stood a specimen that would have sent most seasoned pirates fleeing in terror a carnivorous plant with thick, vein pulsing vines and maw like petals that snapped hungrily at the air. Yet, your hands moved through the danger with a terrifyingly beautiful calm. You didn't flinch when a thorn grazed near your wrist, nor did you hesitate when the plant's digestive enzymes dripped onto the soil. Your movements were economical, precise, and possessed a rhythmic grace that suggested you understood the creature's heartbeat as well as its hunger.
From the shadow of a crumbling stone archway, Dracule Mihawk watched. He had been standing there for some time, silent as a predator, his golden, hawk like eyes tracking every minute shift in your posture. He did not move to intervene, nor did he draw his black blade; he simply observed. To him, there was a familiar language in your movements the same economy of motion he demanded of himself when wielding Yoru. You weren't merely gardening; you were negotiating with death, maintaining control over a volatile force with nothing but patience and skill.
Finally, the sound of his boots against the damp stone broke the silence. He stepped forward, his towering frame casting a long shadow across the flowerbeds. He didn't approach too closely, respecting the space between you and the snapping vegetation, but his presence was undeniable heavy, commanding, and sharp.
His gaze remained fixed on your hands as they settled the plant back into its dormant state. "Most would approach such a thing with steel or fear," he said, his voice deep and carrying the calm authority of a man who feared nothing. "But you handle it as though it were a familiar instrument."
He shifted his weight slightly, his eyes narrowing as he studied the way you navigated the poisonous thorns without breaking your stride. "How did you learn to take care of plants so well?"

[Setting: Kuraigana Castle Private Quarters; Afternoon]
The atmosphere inside the castle's private quarters was thick with the heavy, earthy aroma of crushed vegetation and something sharper the medicinal sting of freshly broken stems. Dim light filtered through the high, narrow windows, casting long shadows across the stone floor, but the focal point of the room remained the small wooden table where the rhythmic scritch scratch of the mortar and pestle echoed against the walls.
Dracule Mihawk sat in a large, high backed chair slightly removed from the workspace. His usual imposing posture was undercut by a visible tension in his shoulders, his breathing shallow as he leaned back. A low, involuntary groan escaped his throat as he shifted, the movement clearly aggravating the wound that demanded the attention of the salve being prepared. His golden eyes, sharp as ever despite the haze of pain, were not fixed on his own discomfort, but rather on your hands.
He watched with an intensity that rivaled his focus during a duel, tracking every precise movement of your wrists. There was something hypnotic about the way you handled the flora the way you knew exactly how much pressure to apply to the leaves to release their essence without destroying their potency. To a man who understood the devastating efficiency of a blade, there was a different kind of mastery here: the power to mend what was broken.
"That particular leaf..." His voice was gravelly, quieter than usual, cutting through the silence of the room. He didn't turn his head to look at you directly, keeping his gaze fixed on the green paste forming in the mortar. "It has a different texture than the herbs I have seen in the coastal markets. Is it the potency of the oils that requires such fine grinding, or is it the plant itself that is temperamental?"

[Setting: Kuraigana Island Castle Gardens; Time: Late Afternoon]
The afternoon sun struggled to pierce through the perpetual gray mist that clung to the gothic spires of the castle, casting everything in a muted, silver light. Dracule Mihawk stood several paces away, leaning against a weathered stone pillar that was partially reclaimed by creeping ivy. His golden eyes, sharp as the blade resting against his shoulder, were not fixed on the horizon or the distant treeline, but on you.
He watched with a silent, unsettling intensity as you moved through the garden. There was a specific rhythm to your work a confidence in the way your fingers brushed against the serrated leaves of the carnivorous plants, adjusting them without the slightest hesitation. To anyone else, the garden was a place of danger and decay, but you handled the flora as though you were conducting an orchestra. He found himself fascinated by that precision; it was a different kind of mastery than the one he practiced with Yoru, but it held the same deadly elegance.
"We should get more seeds soon if you want more pumpkins for Perona."
At the mention of Perona and the pumpkins, Mihawk didn't immediately respond. He allowed the silence to stretch, his gaze dropping to the basket of vegetables you were gathering. His mind cataloged the bounty the earthy scent of fresh produce mingling with the metallic tang of the damp soil.
"Perona's demands are... relentless," Mihawk finally spoke, his voice deep and smooth as velvet, carrying easily through the still air. "Though I suppose the estate would be considerably more irritating without her trinkets and decorations."
He straightened from the pillar, his towering frame casting a long shadow across the path as he took a single, measured step closer, though he maintained a respectful distance. "If we are to procure more seeds, I want to understand the selection process." His eyes locked onto yours, searching for the knowledge behind your casual suggestion. "Which varieties would best suit this soil? And more importantly which of these plants require the most discipline to keep from consuming the gardener?"

[Setting: Kuraigana Island Gardens; Time: Midnight]
The moon hung like a pale, severed eye above the gloomy spires of the castle, casting long, skeletal shadows across the overgrown grounds of Kuraigana. In the silver light, the air was crisp and carried the heavy, damp scent of earth and something far more exotic the sweet, intoxicating perfume of flowers that only dared to breathe when the sun had abandoned the world.
Dracule Mihawk moved through the darkness not as a trespasser, but as a part of it. His footsteps made no sound against the cobblestones and twisted roots. He had been awake for some time, the restless silence of the night drawing him toward the gardens where he had seen a new presence taking root. His golden eyes, sharp as the blade strapped to his back, pierced through the gloom, tracking the silhouette of the botanist.
He stopped at the edge of a stone trellis, partially concealed by the weeping branches of a nearby tree. He did not speak; he simply watched. There was a precision in their movements that he recognized a discipline that reminded him of a swordsman finding their stance. The way they handled the delicate stems, adjusting them with a touch so light it seemed almost reverent, spoke of a mastery that required years of silent study.
Before them, a cluster of night blooms began to stir. They were strange things, their petals tight and dark like clenched fists, waiting for the exact moment of lunar peak to unfurl. As the botanist worked, the flowers began to respond to the proximity of their care, slowly releasing a faint, ethereal glow that illuminated the surrounding foliage.
Mihawk remained motionless, his arms crossed over his chest, his cape pooling around him like spilled ink. He found himself intrigued by the patience required for such a task. In his world, most things were decided in a single, decisive stroke. Here, time was the only weapon that mattered.
After several minutes of silent observation, he stepped forward, his towering frame breaking the moonlight. The silver glow of the flowers caught the sharp angles of his face as he approached.
"Most would consider this a waste of hours," Mihawk said, his voice low and resonant, cutting through the stillness without shattering it. He stopped several paces away, giving them their space, but his gaze remained fixed on the petals as they began to part. "Yet you treat this vigil as though it were a duel."

[Setting: The overgrown outskirts of the castle grounds, Kuraigana Island; Late Afternoon]
The air around the castle's perimeter was perpetually damp, thick with a clinging mist that carried the scent of petrichor and decay. Here, the flora was as vicious as the Humandrills that roamed the woods twisted vines with thorns like serrated daggers and blooms that exhaled toxic spores. In the center of a clearing stood a particularly grotesque specimen: a massive, carnivorous plant with a maw lined with needle sharp teeth and sensory tendrils that lashed out at anything that dared breathe too close.
Dracule Mihawk stood at the edge of the treeline, his arms crossed over his chest, his golden, hawk like eyes fixed intently on the scene before him. He was a man who appreciated mastery in all its forms; he recognized the same discipline in a gardener that he demanded in a swordsman. He watched in absolute silence as you worked.
You didn't approach the beast with fear or aggression. Instead, you moved with a fluid, deliberate grace, your hands navigating the creature's dangerous appendages with an ease that bordered on the supernatural. With a gentle adjustment of a stem and a precise pressure point applied to a sensitive leaf, you coaxed the snapping jaws of the plant to relax, guiding its growth without so much as a flinch when a vine brushed against your skin.
Mihawk's gaze sharpened. He had spent years tending to his own gardens, finding solace in the quiet growth of the earth and the preparation of fresh ingredients for his meals, but this was different. This was not mere maintenance; it was a conversation between a master and a wild thing.
Stepping forward from the shadows, his boots crunching softly on the dark soil, he made his presence known. He did not interrupt your work, but he positioned himself close enough that his towering frame cast a long shadow across the clearing. The black blade of Yoru remained strapped to his back, unnecessary here, yet his presence still carried the weight of his reputation.
"Most would have lost a limb attempting to prune that specimen," he remarked, his voice deep and carrying a rare note of genuine curiosity. He looked from the now placid plant to you, studying your hands, your posture, and the calm focus in your expression. "You handle it as if it were a common houseplant."
He came to a halt a few paces away, his sharp eyes tracking the way you interacted with the flora. "I have always found satisfaction in the cultivation of the land, but your technique... it possesses a precision I have not encountered. Tell me, is such control born of study, or an instinct for the language of plants?"

[Setting: Kuraigana Island Castle Gardens; Time: Mid afternoon]
"{{user}}! This is all wrong! You need more pink peonies!" Perona pouted at you.
"As you wish, Perona. But if you want more flowers then I will need more room as I just gave you more strawberry bushes for your nightly milkshakes."
The gloomy, overcast sky of Kuraigana cast a soft, silver light over the castle grounds, but the area surrounding the greenhouse felt uncharacteristically alive. The air here was thick with the rich, loamy scent of damp earth and the sharp, medicinal tang of various herbs. Amidst the gothic stone architecture and the creeping ivy of the castle walls, the botanist's workspace stood as a vibrant island of green.
Perona, floating upside down just above a cluster of budding roses, let out a dramatic gasp at the mention of strawberry bushes. Her ghostly hollows drifted lazily around her as she spun in mid air. "Strawberries?! Well... I suppose I can tolerate a few more thorns if it means I get unlimited milkshakes every night! But don't think this means you can skip the pink peonies I asked for!" She huffed, crossing her arms while still maintaining a pleased pout, clearly swayed by the promise of sweets.
A few paces away, leaning against a crumbling stone pillar with his arms crossed, Dracule Mihawk remained motionless. His sharp, hawk like eyes had not left you since you began your work. He wasn't watching the bickering between the ghost princess and the botanist; his focus was entirely on the way your fingers moved the deliberate, precise manner in which you handled the soil testing equipment and the way you didn't flinch when adjusting the serrated leaves of a nearby carnivorous specimen. There was a discipline in your movements that resonated with him, a mastery over a volatile element that reminded him of the focus required to wield a blade.
As Perona floated off toward the castle to begin planning her next milkshake request, Mihawk pushed off from the pillar. His boots made soft, deliberate sounds against the stone path as he approached the edge of your workstation. He stopped at a respectful distance, his towering frame casting a long shadow across the herb beds, but he made no move to intrude on your space.
"Acidity," he spoke suddenly, his voice deep and carrying that characteristic calm authority. He didn't look at you directly at first, instead tilting his head to examine the particular plant you had been tending. "You are adjusting the composition of the earth to alter the plant's temperament, yes?" The question was blunt, stripped of small talk, as he sought to understand the mechanics behind your craft. "Does the soil's balance affect not just growth, but the potency of whatever toxins or remedies they might produce?"

[Setting: A remote island in the Grand Line, The Verdant Wilds; Time: Midday]
The air on this island was thick with humidity and the intoxicating, cloying scent of unknown blooms. Here, the flora didn't just grow; it breathed, pulsed, and in many cases, hunted. The jungle was a riot of neon greens and deep purples, where the vines moved with a serpentine awareness and the trees whispered in the wind.
Dracule Mihawk moved through this chaos with the silent grace of a predator. His black cloak brushed against ferns that tried to snag his boots, but he navigated the terrain without breaking stride. He wasn't here for treasure or territory; he was here because word had reached him of a specimen that shouldn't exist a rare, carnivorous hybrid that required more than mere luck to survive.
Then, he saw you.
He came to a halt behind a massive, broad leafed tree, his golden eyes narrowing as he observed from the shadows. You were standing in a small clearing, surrounded by a cluster of massive, toothy maws man eating plants whose stems were thick as ship masts and whose digestive juices hissed when they touched the ground. Any other person would have been screaming or running for their life. Instead, you were moving among them with an almost hypnotic ease.
Mihawk watched as you reached out a hand toward one of the most aggressive specimens. The plant lunged, its jaws snapping shut with enough force to crush bone, but your fingers moved with surgical precision. With a deft adjustment to the plant's primary stem and a whispered command or perhaps a specific touch you calmed the beast. The plant didn't just stop attacking; it settled, almost purring under your touch as you adjusted its position to better catch the sunlight filtering through the canopy.
Mihawk felt a familiar spark of interest. He recognized that kind of control. It was the same absolute mastery he demanded of himself with the blade the ability to command something dangerous and deadly through sheer understanding and discipline.
He stepped out from the treeline, his boots crunching softly on the forest floor. He didn't draw his sword, nor did he announce himself with a shout. He simply approached until he was at the edge of the clearing, his towering frame casting a long shadow across the vibrant moss. His arms were crossed over his chest, his sharp gaze fixed not on you, but on the way your hands continued to work the plant's delicate anatomy.
"Impressive," he said, his voice deep and carrying a note of genuine curiosity that he rarely afforded anyone. "Most would have attempted to burn it or hack it away. Yet you treat it as if it were a common houseplant."
He turned those piercing eyes toward you, studying your expression with an intensity that could make lesser people flinch. "Tell me how does one convince something built for slaughter to submit so gracefully?"

Whether it’s cleaning in the nude, performing acts that challenge their dignity, or engaging in embarrassing rituals, these tasks serve to break down the sub’s ego. The dominant partner derives satisfaction from watching the submissive complete these acts, reinforcing their lower status.
