All Might had Class 1-A participate in the Battle Trial during their first Foundational Hero Studies class. Class 1-A is permitted to use their Hero Costumes for the first time to participate in this event.

All Might moved them two steps ahead of the urban battles they participated in during the Entrance Exams by training them for indoor battles. According to All Might, statistically speaking, most run-ins with the worst villains occur indoors. The Battle Trial's purpose was to prepare the students for this.

The students were paired up into ten teams of two and were pitted against each other in two on two matches, both teammates and the matchups were decided by drawing lots, to simulate how heroes don't always get to pick and choose the fellow heroes they work with. One pair would be the hero team and the other would play the villain role.

Battle Trial rules Ways the heroes can win the Battle Trial.

The backstory situation for the exercise is that a pair of villains are hiding a weapon payload (fake, of course) inside the building. The time limit for the mock battle is fifteen minutes. In order for the heroes to win, they must either capture both villains or secure the weapon before time runs out. In order for the villains to win, they either have to capture both heroes or protect the weapon until time runs out. All Might would intervene if the situation escalates too far.

Since the heroes don't know where in the building the bomb is located and have limited time, the heroes are at a disadvantage. This is part of the training, as heroes have to overcome such odds on a daily basis.

Prior to the start of the match, the villain team is given five minutes to find the weapon and set up their defenses, while the hero team is given a schematic of the building to study. Each participant is given a role of special tape with which to tie up their opponents. A student tied up in the tape is considered captured and therefore out of the game.

Each participant also has an earpiece so they can talk to their partner. All Might wears one as well, so he can talk to any of them.

The mock battles took place on Ground Beta, a replica city, inside the replica buildings while the rest of the class watched from a monitoring room.[1] Every individual battle is critiqued by All Might and the students following its completion.[2] Yuga Aoyama: Yuga is a young man with a slim build and a feminine face. He has long blond hair, worn flattened down around most of his head, spiked and sticking out to the sides at the bottom with a side fringe that slightly curves upwards before it curves down. He has notably long eyelashes and bright indigo eyes, giving him the appearance of a young prince.

His hero costume consists of a bluish-black bodysuit, over which he wears a suit of metallic lavender and golden armor; a chest plate, two spherical shoulder pads, elbow-length vambraces, and knee-length boots. His chest plate has a high V-neck collar with a golden Greek fret-like trim, as with the lower diaphanous piece under the belt and the edges of the vambraces. It also comes with a long, glittery reddish indigo cape and a belt with a golden ring-shaped buckle with a blue crystal, from which he emits his Quirk, matching the smaller ones over his shoulder pads and knees. He has straight, angled golden lines running down his baggy pants, a matching set around the shafts of his boots, and a red-tinted wing-shaped visor over his eyes.Yuga initially appears to be vain and prideful, thinking of himself as superior to the rest of his classmates, especially regarding his Quirk. He exhibits flamboyant mannerisms, is fond of posing, and likes to grab the attention of those around him despite frequently getting ignored by his peers. His expression rarely changes from a closed smile, even while he speaks or gets hurt, and he's also prone to getting upset if interrupted or questioned. Yuga's sentences often end with a star (☆) symbol, indicating a fancy tone. He also plays up his French heritage, occasionally implementing French words into his sentences. Yuga's Quirk allows him to shoot a powerful sparkling laser cannon from his navel. It is so powerful, it can blast through two meters of solid concrete. If he fires the laser for more than 1 second at a time, he will suffer intestinal distress.

Mina ashido: Mina is a girl of medium height, set a little more broadly than some of her other female classmates, with, according to her profile, "healthy thighs". Due to her Quirk, her skin is a light shade of pink, and she has somewhat square-shaped eyes with black sclerae, yellow irises and notably long eyelashes below and around the sides of her eyes. Minoru Mineta once commented that "she's got a super athletic body."

Her face is framed by short, fluffy, unruly pink hair that is slightly darker than her skin. She also has two thin pale yellow horns protruding from her head, hooked squarely and leaning diagonally to opposite sides, which seem to be slightly flexible, able to bend a bit to each side. Her hero costume, Prism Sky,[6] consists of a plain white mask with thin lines over her eyes and a purple and turquoise skin-tight bodysuit with a camouflage pattern, ending just above her breasts. Over this, she wears a cropped, sleeveless, tan-colored waistcoat with white fur along its collar, which she leaves unbuttoned. She wears custom made plum violet and beige acid-proof boots with holes in the soles, allowing her to secrete acid from her feet to slide around. Mina is a cheerful and easygoing girl who usually displays a smile. Highly social and excitable, she loves to hang out with her friends and is shown to become very upset when denied an opportunity to be at a gathering. She possesses a strong fashion sense and likes to go shopping.

Due to her athleticism and energy, Mina enjoys and is very skilled at dancing. Her demeanor becomes more strict and perfectionist when teaching others how to dance, in direct contrast to her usual happy-go-lucky nature. She is known to use her dancing to somehow pacify even those who have bad relationships with others. Mina's Quirk allows her to produce a corrosive liquid from her body. She can control the solubility and viscosity of this corrosive liquid. There is a limit to how long she can produce the corrosive liquid until her skin gradually loses its natural resistance to it. Overusing her Quirk or pushing it too far can also be fatal, as it dehydrates her body very fast.

Mina can use her acid offensively, but has shown utility with it as well, such as melting handholds for herself to climb with. She is also known to secrete a non-corrosive version of the acid from her feet in order to slide around.

As part of her training, Mina constantly produced acid in order to increase her skin's durability, namely towards the corrosive properties of her Quirk. Tsuyu asui Tsuyu is a short girl of a relatively slender build and has notably large hands. Her appearance is rather frog-like; she has a wide mouth, which dips down a little in the middle just like a common frog, and oval-shaped eyes with large, black irises, their lower eyelashes visibly pronounced. Amongst her family, Tsuyu's frog-like traits are the least pronounced. She also demonstrates some frog-like mannerisms, such as hopping on all fours instead of running and holding herself in a way that is somewhat connotative of a frog.

Her hair is a dark sea-green color and is very long, reaching to her hips with the ends tied together at the bottom in a large bow of hair. She has two armpit-length clumps framing her face and shorter bangs between her eyes, some partially swept to each side. Her hero costume consists of a bright green turtleneck bodysuit, tan-colored gloves with large green buckles on each wrist guard, and two matching belts, one above her breasts, a strap at either side going around her shoulders, and one around her waist, little holes embedded into it all the way around. Two black lines run down her suit, each framed with a yellow outline, and she wears tight black boots with yellow markings in the shape of a "V" on her thighs and green webbed flippers resembling frogs' toes on her feet. She wears a headband with a color matching that of her gloves and goggles with dark green-tinted lenses attached on either side and a thin dark green mask that goes along the middle of her face. Tsuyu is straightforward and aloof, speaking bluntly from her mind and freely expressing what she thinks about others. Tsuyu prefers to be called "Tsu" (梅雨ちゃん, Tsuyu-chan) but only by people she views as friends.[6] She commonly refers to everyone with the honorific "-chan", save for teachers and other authority figures. Tsuyu's Quirk gives her a frog's physiology and allows her to do anything a frog can, giving her abilities such as:

Enhanced swimming abilities. Hopping at long distances. Extending her tongue up to a maximum of 20 meters (63 feet) (which is strong enough to lift an entire person's body weight). Sticking to walls. Ejecting/washing her stomach. Camouflaging herself. Secreting mucous with different, controlled effects: Itch inducing Scent masking Paralysis Since she is frog-like, when she is exposed to cold temperatures for too long, she goes into hibernation and is unable to function.

As part of her training, Tsuyu worked out all the muscles in her body, including her tongue, by rock climbing on the side of a cliff while having her elongated tongue remain in place at the top of the structure.

Tenya ida: Tenya is a tall and muscular young man with a wide frame. He has short dark blue hair, flattened neatly down and parted on the right side of his head, a small patch completely shaved near the base of his head, and rather square eyes which match the notably pointed shape of his jaw. He usually wears a serious expression, and his eyebrows seem permanently pointed inwards, quite thin and long, the far ends sharply hooked inwards, and he wears glasses with rectangular lenses. Because of his Quirk, he possesses calves that are incredibly thick, and shaped like automobile engines, with six silver exhaust pipes protruding from each leg in columns of three. He gains new mufflers after removing the old ones from his legs, with them being longer and shaped a bit differently.

His hero costume consists of a dark blue one-piece suit with a high collar, over which he wears various pieces of armor, all in a pale silver, including a chest plate, a metal collar around his neck and another around his upper arm, and metal vambraces that extend past his elbows pointed at the ends. He wears a helmet covering his entire face, its sharp bevor full of holes to allow him to speak and breathe easily, and its upper piece rounded over his head with two larger holes on either side, two curved horns just behind and a single spike sticking out of the back of his head. On his feet, he wears silver knee-high boots with gold accessories, which are specialized for his Quirk, and around his torso, he has three thick metal pipes, attached with a blue band, although these only serve as decoration. His armor is very lightweight and does not protect him much; its main purpose is to cut down air resistance rather than to protect him. He may look severe, unfriendly, and even intimidating at first glance, but in reality, he's straightforward, earnest, intelligent, sophisticated, disciplined, and noble, although a bit clueless about personal interactions due to his elite upbringing. A testament to his generally hyperactive and intense behavior, Tenya often exhibits plenty of peculiar tics, such as moving his arms around in strange chopping patterns or sometimes twitching his body uncontrollably; yet he rarely sheds his usual strict expression.

Tenya tends to take everything very seriously and is known for habitually jumping to conclusions, then enthusiastically speaking or acting based on said conclusions. For example, after assuming that Izuku had figured out the true nature of the U.A. Entrance Exam (even though Izuku was only acting on a whim), Tenya started to acknowledge him as a worthy peer and has since held him in high esteem. Furthermore, Tenya always attempts to immerse himself heavily into practical exercises, playing his part as a hero or villain in an overly theatrical manner, as an attempt to appear more authentic. Tenya's Quirk gives him car-like engines in each of his calves, giving him incredible running speed and extreme kicking power. Tenya needs to fuel his engines by drinking orange juice.

Tenya drinks Orange Juice Tenya drinking orange juice to refuel his engines.

Tenya's engines have multiple gears; it is currently unknown how many, but it has been implied that there are more than three. Much like a real engine, his Quirk requires that the exhaust pipes on the backs of his legs remain clear of obstructions to function correctly.

Tenya engaged in hardcore, long-distance running as part of his training to increase his leg strength and stamina to run faster for more extended periods. During the Quirk Apprehension Test, he ran fifty meters in 3.04 in third gear, meaning he ran at an average speed of 51.29 kilometers per hour (36.79 miles per hour), making his maximum speed exceedingly above this.

Recipro Turbo Tenya's new Recipro Turbo.

Sometime before the Joint Training Battle, his older brother Tensei told him about a secret family method regarding their Quirk, prompting Tenya to remove the mufflers from his legs to grow new ones to withstand his training. His Recipro now lasts for ten minutes, as opposed to ten seconds. However, Tenya becomes so fast that he cannot control himself, though he gradually gains better handling over his heightened speed. Ochaco Uraraka: Ochaco is a short girl with a slender yet curvy figure, fair skin, and auburn hair with eyes that match in color. She has perpetual pink blush marks on her cheeks, and her eyes are large and round with thick upper lashes, two more extended and more prominent ones on either side and fewer but more individually pronounced lower lashes. Her hair is above shoulder-length with short bangs hanging above her eyebrows, and the style is bobbed with two long strands framing her face. She has small, thick pads on her fingertips similar to the digits of an animal's paws; she uses these when activating and deactivating her Quirk. Her initial hero costume consists of a black, full-body suit with a pale pink design down the middle of her torso, topped with two black semi-spheres on her chest, two pink stripes starting at her midsection, a deep pink choker, and two-toned pink sleeves with cuffs. It also has matching pale and deep pink-colored accessories, including round gauntlets with handles, which are used to increase and decrease her blood pressure, chunky, knee-high boots with deep pink shock-absorbent soles and grey heels that have stiff springs in them to soften landings, and a two-piece belt with a round buckle. She sometimes wears matching headgear with a tinted visor as well, which is used to lessen stress on her ear canals. Her accessories are designed to press her acupuncture points, but the tightness of her costume was an error due to her not being specific enough in her request for its design (though it's implied that she has grown into it as she still hasn't gotten it replaced).[6] Other students have described Ochaco as "the most laid-back girl" in her class, being very bubbly and was once kind of an airhead sometimes. She is often incredibly blunt without being aware of it. Similar to Izuku Midoriya, Ochaco's reactions tend to be exaggerated and humorous: she often becomes amused at certain personality traits and quirks others exhibit, bursting into laughter at times, which she tries to suppress.

Ochaco is a warm, cute, lively individual who thinks about everything positively, though she is objective enough to see flaws and virtues. She is generally empathetic and friendly to those she meets, and she will try to help or defend anyone who is kind to her or needs assistance. Ochaco is very good at reading people, understanding the reasons for Izuku and Katsuki Bakugo's rivalry, and being the first to notice when the usually collected Tsuyu Asui was upset. Her empathy and kindness are also seen in how well she gets along with her classmates. She is on good terms with everyone and is particularly close friends with several class members, including Izuku, Tenya Ida, Tsuyu, etc. To add to her positivity, Ochaco was also the one who inspired the positive meaning of Izuku's nickname "Deku", finding it similar to the Japanese phrase "to be able to do" (できる dekiru?), causing Izuku to accept his previously insulting nickname and later choose it as his hero name. Ochaco's Quirk gives her the power to nullify the effects of gravity on solid targets (living and nonliving) by touching them with the pads on her fingertips, causing them to become weightless and float. She is able to cancel the effect of her Quirk by touching her finger pads together.

Her Quirk is good for restraining, as those affected will be less capable of fighting back since they will keep floating upwards until they are released. Ochaco takes advantage of ravaged areas to gather wreckage while also exploiting the consequences of a destructive Quirk. She can easily clean up disaster zones while simultaneously figuring out the timing of her movements so as not to damage others.

The main drawback of Ochaco's Quirk is that if the upper weight limit (around three tons) is exceeded, or if Ochaco floats herself, she will suffer from severe nausea. As part of her training, Ochaco considerably reduced resultant nausea and increased her weight limit, as well as developed her ability to float herself for short periods of time without becoming nauseous. Ojiro: Mashirao is a muscular young man with short blond hair swept to the front of his head. He has thin eyes with no lower eyelashes. Unlike the other students in his class, he wears pale gray sneakers with his school uniform instead of the brown dress shoes worn by everyone else, and he has the bottom button of his blazer he leaves casually undone. Due to his Quirk, he also has a tail, which is entirely hairless, save for the tip.

Mashirao's hero costume is a plain karate gi, tied with a black belt with blue accessories, with his collar partially lined with fur, but only on his left side. He also wears black boots with sand blue details. Before the Provisional Hero License Exam, he dons blue fingerless gloves.Mashirao has a very calm and noble attitude and a profound sense of dignity, which prevents him from accepting results he doesn't feel he earned with his own abilities. He is also described as a hard worker.

Along with a strong sense of dignity, Mashirao can be described as sheepish and bashful, not very often enjoying the spotlight and being easily embarrassed. He is humble yet also reliable and focused during hero work. A recurring joke is that others view Mashirao as "plain," which profoundly upsets him, showing that he's sensitive and self-conscious about his personality and abilities. He tends to be shocked quite easily, such as when he sees Ochaco punch herself in the face and when Eri receives a much bigger sword than her during Class 1-A's Christmas party.

Occasionally, Mashirao will hang his tail over his shoulder, presumably to take the weight of it off of his lower body. Denki Kaminari: Denki has short gold hair, parted to the right with a black lightning-shaped streak on the left of his side fringe, which is angled to partially obscure his left eye. He has slanted, somewhat triangular golden eyes and notably small eyebrows. He's slimmer than most male students in his class, with little visible muscle mass. Denki's original hero costume consists of a plain white shirt, over which he wears an open black jacket with a white lightning pattern across his back, with matching pants with two lines running down his legs and brown shoes. He has a single, square-shaped earphone over his right ear, resembling a radio antenna sticking out of the top. Denki is a friendly, social, and energetic boy who enjoys hanging out with others. He is rather casual when interacting with other people, including the generally unfriendly Katsuki Bakugo, although he's not above petty complaining or overreacting if he feels annoyed or shocked enough. Denki may come off as blunt and reckless at times but is always well-meaning. He is also the type of person who encourages others to be themselves and be more comfortable doing what they like, as seen when he complimented Kyoka's skill with multiple musical instruments during preparation for the U.A. School Festival.

Denki is somewhat flirtatious towards the girls in and out of his class, sometimes accompanying Minoru Mineta on his schemes and trying to pass himself off as a smooth talker. He is not very lucky with his approaches, though, frequently having his advances ignored or outright rejected by those he asks out. Denki is also a bit of a jokester and sometimes teases others with playful comments. Overall, Denki is interested in appearing cool and trendy to impress people but has a shallow understanding of how to do so properly. Because of that, he is easily influenced by what's popular or stylish at the moment, even if it's due to villain action. Denki's Quirk allows him to store electricity and discharge it allowing him to cover his body in it. While he can also discharge this energy over a distance, Denki has little to no control over it, meaning it will go everywhere indiscriminately. Exceeding his wattage limit causes his brain to short-circuit, leaving him in a vulnerable state for 1 hour.Denki is also able to absorb and neutralize electricity and other lightning-based Quirks. Eijiro is a muscular young man of average height and a rather impressive physique for his young age. He has red eyes pointed slightly inwards, and a small scar just above his right eye. He also has small eyebrows and pointed teeth. His hair is somewhat long, dyed a bright red, and spiked away from his head at all angles with gel, with two more pronounced tufts spiked on either side of his forehead like little horns. This lofty style takes a full three minutes to set.Eijiro is a boisterous and outgoing guy with a fondness for manliness, often using the terms "manly" and "unmanly" to describe things and people he does or doesn't like, respectively. Those who showcase a noble, brave, or determined attitude tend to emotionally move him to tears, quickly earning his complete admiration, respect, and friendship. Similarly, he will call out traits that are the opposite of that, such as cowardice and dirty play. Eijiro is determined and selfless, bravely putting the safety of others before himself. He is also a big fan of Crimson Riot, a retro hero from whom he takes inspiration, including personal values and his hero name. Eijiro's Quirk gives him the power to harden and sharpen any or all parts of his body, causing his flesh to become jagged and rock-like.

There is a limit to how much damage his hardened body can withstand, which causes Hardening itself to slowly dissipate, and Eijiro to lose stamina from struggling to keep his Quirk active.[19] However, when battling Kendo Rappa, Red Riot displayed the ability to refortify his hardened body mid-combat. Koji koda: Koji is a tall young man of a broad, muscular build with peach-colored skin. His head takes the form of a rock, which is unevenly shaped and pointed at the top of his head, and his jaw is square-shaped. From the back of his head, thick hair-like protrusions slope downwards. His hero costume is a tight yellow suit, only reaching to his knees and elbows, with a large red marking over his torso and at the ends of his sleeves. On his chest, there's a symbol resembling an open mouth, and he wears yellow shoes with red lining. Contrary to his powerful and brutish appearance, Koji is timid and quiet. As such, he rarely speaks and prefers using sign language to communicate with his classmates, so much so that Kyoka Jiro assumed that he was mute and was greatly surprised when Koji spoke. According to Fumikage Tokoyami, he is very good at keeping secrets. He also hates violence due to his kind-hearted nature. Koji's Quirk gives him the ability to command any creature in the animal kingdom by speaking to them. Whatever command he gives, the animal will carry it out. However, he cannot exert control if they cannot hear his command. The target must also be a real animal and not merely animal-like. Koji can also exchange information with the animals to find the locations of various people and potential enemies faster.

Koji has been shown to use the Quirk effectively with flocks of birds to create a smokescreen of animals and to attack an opponent, along with his use of insects to distract and attack his opponents. He has now also overcome his fear of bugs, so he often uses bugs to swarm opponents with numbers.

Rikido Sato: Rikido is a tall, very muscular young man with a broad build. His brown hair is short and spiked upwards away from his head. He has relatively tiny, square-shaped eyes with small black pupils and a pair of bushy eyebrows just above. Rikido bears huge, thick lips, slightly darker than the rest of his skin, and a notably large, round nose.

Rikido's hero costume consists of a yellow full-body suit covering his body, the only exceptions being the holes around his mouth, eyes, and hair. He wears white gloves, boots, and a utility belt around his waist, storing small quantities of sugar inside its pouches. Rikido is interested in sweets and baking, a valuable skill due to his Quirk.

He is surprisingly talented at making sweets conquering his classmates with his food. The fact that this overly optimistic reaction caught Rikido off guard suggests that he doesn't think much of his abilities as a confectioner.[6] Nevertheless, every week in the dorms, Rikido bakes sweets and shares them with his classmates, which he calls "Sugar Time". To create a gourmet night, he pairs his sweets with Momo Yaoyorozu's tea. He can cook other food, too, as shown during the Christmas party. Rikido's Quirk allows him to increase his strength five-fold for three minutes. To activate his Quirk, he needs to consume 10 grams of sugar. When converting sugar into strength, his cognitive functions gradually drop, making him sleepy afterward. For every additional 10 grams of sugar he ingests, he extends the time of increased strength by another three minutes. Mezo is a tall, muscular young man with pale gray hair swept forwards, covering most of his face, and bent downwards at almost a right angle over his eye. He has six arms attached by a web of skin; the arms are very physically strong, and while his Quirk is not in use, only the front two arms have hands, the rest ending in thin stumps.

While less pronounced in the anime, he has a slightly elongated face; his eyes set more towards the sides, the majority of which, due to his scars, he has always kept hidden by a blue mask, which covers him from just below his eyes to the base of his neck. He is rarely seen without it, as he doesn't appear when the other students are bathing in the hot springs, and he wears it with every outfit. To speak and eat, he grows a mouth on the end of one of his tentacles, although once, in the Quirk Training Camp, when his arm was injured, he was seen speaking with his actual mouth. Although he has no discernible ears, he doesn't have to use his Quirk to hear.

During school hours, he wears the regular male U.A. uniform, the only notable difference between his and the other students' being that he is sleeveless to make room for his six tentacles, and he wears a waistcoat rather than a blazer. He also doesn't wear the usual brown dress shoes, replacing them with thick-soled black espadrilles.

His hero costume consists of a tight blue tank top, six white markings resembling eyes, connected at the top to a darker, more indigo-colored mask, its design the same as the one he usually wears. He has a belt with another, larger eye shape embedded into its center, this time yellow, below which he wears slightly baggy trousers to match his shirt, two darker lines running down the sides of his legs, and indigo boots. Mezo shoji: Despite his frightening appearance, Mezo is friendly and gentle and will work nicely with anyone. He is not the type to hold grudges, showing no ill will towards those that harm him unwillingly.

Mezo is entirely selfless and willing to risk his life for anyone. He can be empathetic and understanding but still shows a sense of maturity and responsibility that prevents him from acting under emotional impulses, even if he feels regretful. He is very protective of his classmates, especially if they are hurt or injured. The Ultra Archive book states that his feelings for his friends are stronger than anyone else and doesn't mind sacrificing himself.[4]

Mezo claims to hold no desire for material needs, being okay with having few possessions of his own, and this is a trait he has been carrying since childhood.

Mezo is also quite thick-skinned, as he said he was used to being feared and seemed unfazed when Pony Tsunotori called him an octopus and said she didn't like to look at him.

In Mezo's hometown, there is still prejudice against those whose bodies are altered outwardly by their Quirks, and people are often frightened of him. He started wearing his signature mask because his face made a young girl cry, and he didn't want to cause any sadness.[4] He also states that his facial scars and the fact that he is a heteromorph can make people assume that he became a hero to enact vengeance on the people who scarred him, which is not true. Part of his motivation to be a hero is to tear down the societal walls that have stood in the way of heteromorphs like himself for over a century. However, he also knows that he can't do so in a single generation, and as such, he has a marked distaste for shortsightedness regarding the use of force and violence to head such a change in society. Mezo's Quirk grants him a set of tentacles alongside his arms. He can transform the tips of these tentacles to replicate other parts of his body (ex: mouth, ears, eyes). The duplicated body parts are more efficient than the originals; as a result, Mezo is able to hear better, see-through more angles at a time, and they grant him much higher degrees of strength.

His detection ability from his Quirk is so powerful that he is able to hear the movements of Toru Hagakure in the USJ attack despite a sizable distance between them and the capabilities of her Invisibility Quirk, along with confirming that all the other members of 1-A were still in the USJ. This feat renders sneak attacks ineffective against Mezo.

He also uses these arms to talk most of the time through duplicate mouths, rather than his actual mouth.

Mezo is also able to extend his tentacles, and, with an arm at the end, can use them like grappling hooks to scale walls, grab onto pipes to quickly evade attacks, or get to a vantage point. Kyoka Jiro: Kyoka is a petite, fair-skinned girl with a slender build. She has triangular onyx eyes with notably long lower eyelashes and small eyebrows. Her dark-purple hair is chin length, with an asymmetrical fringe that has two reflections shaped like sound waves on either side. She also has two chin length strands framing her face, and keeps the rest up to her neck. Her most prominent features are the flexible, plug-like earphone jacks hanging from each of her earlobes; they act like extra limbs that she is able to control at will, and change their length if so desired. Following the Paranormal Liberation War, she gains a small scar on her right earphone jack. During the Final War, her left ear and earphone jack are blown off by All For One.Her hero costume consists of a black leather jacket, long salmon-colored shirt with several rips at the collar and hem, black pants, and boots with stereos built into their shafts. She also has two small, triangular red paint marks just below her eyes, a plain black choker, and white fingerless gloves. Kyoka has a pragmatic, unenthusiastic, blunt, and teasing personality that is mostly shown to those she finds irritating, like her fellow classmate Denki Kaminari, whose cluelessness makes him an easy target for her snarky comments. Kyoka is not always like this though, as she does enjoy socializing with others, in which case she is usually nice and friendly, most notably with Momo Yaoyorozu and the other girls in her class.

Kyoka often gesticulates through her elongated earlobes in place of her hands.[9] She can also be quite aggressive, evidenced by when she uses the Earphone Jacks her Quirk provides, to physically punish people when provoked or to keep them in line, most notably Denki and Minoru Mineta. During hero activities, however, Kyoka prefers smarter approaches, usually by coming up with a plan herself. She is surprisingly organized and makes sure to convey her ideas in a way that's easy to understand.Despite the fact that she comes off as cold and indifferent, Kyoka also has a much more sensitive side, being very defensive towards her friends, empathetic with others' feelings, and getting flustered when her talents and capabilities are brought up.[10][11][12] While Kyoka is hard to unnerve or surprise, she is afraid of horror-based activities, and has an aversion to nudity. She is a bit self-conscious about her looks and style as well, becoming noticeably upset when she was not seen as attractive by Minoru, and attacking Denki and Yuga Aoyama for commenting that her dorm room was unladylike. Kyoka's Quirk is that she has a pair of headphone jacks hanging from her earlobes. When the jacks are plugged into something, Kyoka can channel the sound of her heartbeat through them in the form of a violent vibration attack. She can stretch her earlobes several meters. This Quirk also allows her to hear minuscule sounds and vibrations from her surroundings.

As part of her training, Kyoka honed her headphone jacks by repeatedly piercing them into a stone cliff, all to increase the amount of audio she can hear with her Quirk. Hanta sero: Hanta is a tall, lean young man with chin-length black hair spiked downwards, with jagged bangs coming about halfway down his forehead. He has almond-shaped eyes, usually stretched quite broad and rather large, with small pupils and straight teeth that dominate his grin; however, according to Katsuki Bakugo[6] and Present Mic,[7] he has a rather plain face. His elbows have the shape of cylindrical tape dispensers, from which he fires his Tape Quirk. His hero costume consists of a black, skin-tight bodysuit with a turtleneck, plain apart from a white design on his mid-torso area, and two yellow trimmings around each of his elbow-length sleeves. He wears white boots lined with yellow and has short white bands around his waist and the sides of his thighs, a larger one across his chest to connect his shoulder pads, shaped like tape dispensers. He completes his outfit with a yellow helmet, shaped similarly to his shoulder pads, with a sizeable black visor obscuring his face. Hanta is amicable and has proven to be one of the more sociable members of Class 1-A. He can sometimes be loud and showy, often trying to impress his peers with his Quirk.

He is often the only person to call his classmates out when they act crazy. He is pretty humorous and usually makes jokes with his classmates. However, when push comes to shove, Hanta is a brave hero-in-training who wishes to prosper on his own while helping others do the same. He makes friends with those around him and is shown to be a very laid-back guy.

Hanta can keep up his confidence and make an effort, even when he believes the odds are stacked heavily against him. This determination is shown when he faced Shoto Todoroki during the Sports Festival and admitted that he felt he couldn't win, but he soon attacked Shoto, saying that he didn't want to lose either. Despite his crushing defeat afterward and failing the Final Exam due to being put asleep by Midnight, he still retains his willingness to continue and improve alongside his classmates.

Hanta has a teasing side that he shows on occasion, even towards the high-tempered Katsuki Bakugo, as he was seen jeering at him along with Minoru Mineta for not cleaning their dorms windowsills properly. He can also be one to speak his mind and at times insult others without meaning to, such as when he compared the functions of Momo Yaoyorozu’s Creation Quirk to the excrement process, upsetting her and then being forced to apologize by Kyoka Jiro.

Though not openly flirtatious like Denki or Minoru, Hanta still has some interest in girls. This is primarily seen during the Provisional License Exam when Izuku informs him of the girl who transformed into a clone of Ochaco; he starts violently shaking Izuku and asking him if she was naked then as well. Later, he informed Denki and Minoru of what happened with Izuku and "Camie", proving that he also has a habit of spreading gossip. Hanta's Quirk is that he has tape dispenser-like organs in his elbows, from which he can shoot long cellophane tape-like strips; he can also retract them. They appear to be somewhat sturdier than regular tape. Overuse of his Quirk will cause his skin to dry out.

He can use his tape to wrap people, swing long distances, and create traps, among other applications.

Fumikage Tokoyami: Fumikage is a short young man with the head of a black bird, possibly supposed to resemble that of a crow or a raven. He has a tan, yellowish beak, which is slightly hooked down at the end, thin, red eyes with a small black pupil, one on each side of his head, and a red choker, which he rarely removes. Despite the appearance of his head, however, his body looks like an average human, with relatively fair skin. After his internship training with Hawks, Fumikage has become more muscular. His costume consists of a black robe that is tinted a dark purple where light hits it, covering his entire body, only stopping halfway down his shins and knee-high black boots. During the Joint Training Arc, it was revealed that under this cape, he wears a dark t-shirt, wristbands, baggy pants, and a utility belt with a double pin buckle.Fumikage is reserved, serious, and focused, albeit noble and valiant. Though not talkative, Fumikage will directly ignore questions or requests that seem pointless (like Tenya Ida asking him not to sit on a desk) while he talks to other people as some ongoing joke. When Fumikage teams up with others, he becomes more sociable, helping his teammates out, reassuring his trust in them, and thanking them for their effort. During combat, Fumikage is known to be fierce and dependable, with his strength and capabilities rarely being questioned. Fumikage's Quirk allows him to manifest a sentient shadow monster from his body that he can materialize and contract freely. Dark Shadow's energy is limited and can be drained by bright light. Dark Shadow retracts into Fumikage's body when it runs out of energy.

The shadow entity's personality, strength, defense, and control depend on the lack of light. In bright light, Dark Shadow is weaker and smaller but still has considerable strength and defense and is easier to control, but in total darkness, Dark Shadow's size and parameters are drastically enhanced. It is powerful enough to rip out and cut down multiple full-grown trees easily. However, Dark Shadow is more difficult to control in the dark, causing it to rampage based on its own free will.

As part of his training, Fumikage trained in a dark cave to increase his control over Dark Shadow, even when darkness empowers his Quirk. This training proved effective when Fumikage activated Dark Shadow in pure darkness, and it was still the same size it would be if it were daytime. Due to a run-in with League of Villains member Moonfish, it was revealed that, besides light and darkness, more internal factors influence Dark Shadow. According to Mezo, Fumikage's negative emotions (such as regret and indignation) intensify Dark Shadow, making it more unruly and powerful as a result, albeit at the cost of Fumikage losing control; Fumikage himself even stated that his anger causes him to lose control of Dark Shadow. Dark Shadow also seems capable of eating, as it took some food when Class 1-A celebrated Christmas.

Toru Hagakure: Toru is a reasonably short girl with a completely invisible body. She is only identifiable through held or worn objects, like clothing and accessories. Later, after refracting the light off of Yuga Aoyama's Navel Laser, it's revealed that she has long, messy, wavy chartreuse hair, with pink specks, bushy eyelashes, and big round eyes, with irises that are teal on the outside and yellow on the inside.[6]

Due to the nature of her Quirk, her hero costume consists only of a pair of simple light blue gloves decorated by pale pink lines and light brownish-gray lace-up shoes. Toru is a bubbly, cheery, and easygoing girl who does most things with an upbeat attitude, even when manipulated, such as when she encouraged the other Class 1-A girls to cheerlead during the U.A. Sports Festival due to having the spare time. She is very socially eager and likes shopping, and her room suggests that she likes plushies and other cute things. Like Mina Ashido, Toru also appears to be something of a romantic, eagerly wanting to hear who Ochaco Uraraka was interested in and encouraging the other girls to talk about love during their slumber party.[8] She believes that taking off her clothes during battle is a tactical advantage, much to the awkwardness of those around her. That being said, she seems blissfully unaware of what it means to be invisible, such as displaying slight embarrassment at the idea of being seen undressing, a trait that shows up even when she's wearing her hero costume, which features almost no clothing in the first place. Toru's Quirk is that her body is completely invisible. Shoto Todoroki: Shoto is a moderately tall and rather muscular young man who is well-built for his age, stemming from his intense training as a child. He has short hair that doesn't pass his neck, and wears bangs, parted twice to avoid obscuring his vision.

His hair is evenly split between white on his right side and crimson red on his left, this unusual coloring being due to his Quirk. As another result, he also possesses heterochromia iridum, which causes his left eye's iris to appear turquoise, while his right is a brownish dark gray.

His eyes, in shape, are quite thin and reserved. Additionally, he has a large burn scar on the left side of his face, which reaches from his hairline to halfway down his cheek. He usually has a serious expression. Despite this, however, several of the girls in his class have claimed that he is handsome and Mina Ashido even goes as far as to say that he's the best-looking guy in Class 1-A.[7]In his initial hero costume, he wears a plain off-white shirt with matching pants and boots, with two gold-colored straps going over his shoulders, which attach to a similar colored tactical vest, which function as a heater. He has what appears to be a material resembling ice covering his whole left side, even his head with the eye socket glowing red, although it is detachable, which he wears to reject the fire aspect of his Quirk. Shoto originally had a cold, aloof personality, which stemmed from his abusive upbringing and complicated family life. Focused and unemotional, Shoto preferred to keep things to himself instead of hanging out with others. After the events of the U.A. Sports Festival, however, Shoto notably became more sociable and kinder than ever before, even gaining a sense of humor and occasionally smiling, although still retaining some fragments of his previous distant attitude and nonchalant demeanor. After the Provisional Hero License Course, he began opening up more to his classmates and has lightened up from his usually serious demeanor. Nonetheless, Shoto is not quite used to socializing yet, coming off as a bit dense when understanding certain phrases and figures of speech (such as when Camie Utsushimi asked him for his phone number or when Mt. Lady tried flirting with him) or when trying to read between the lines (such as when he inquired about Izuku Midoriya possibly also having two Quirks after he first used Blackwhip).

While usually quiet and reserved, Shoto initially possessed a moderate level of arrogance, which, combined with his solitary tendencies, sometimes made him take the initiative without considering the opinions of others, displaying confidence that he could take on any obstacles with his own strength. He used to be much more unfriendly as well, evidenced by when his cold attitude caused Inasa Yoarashi to resent him while he was none the wiser. Even in the present, Shoto seems to prefer acting alone, although he only does this for practical purposes since doing so allows him to unleash his full power without worrying about friendly fire. Calm and composed yet brutal in combat, Shoto is well-grounded on the ethics of heroism, only wishing to subdue his frozen opponents instead of killing them by prolonging the freezing.

Katsuki Bakugo: Katsuki is a young man of above-average height with a slim, muscular build, and a fair skin tone. He has short, spiky, sandy blond hair with choppy bangs that hang over his eyebrows. His eyes are sharp, bright red in color. His hero costume consists of a tight, black, sleeveless tank top featuring an orange "X" across the middle, creating a V-neck design. There are two black dots along the left side of the collar, which is the trademark of his costume's designer, Sasori Nimaru.[8][9] The outfit includes a metallic neck brace with rectangular ends, each having three holes on either side. He wears black sleeves that extend from large, grenade-like gauntlets up to his biceps, finishing with thin orange tips. A green and orange belt, equipped with grenades, secures his baggy pants that have green straps and knee guards. On his feet, he sports black, knee-high combat boots with orange soles, eight eyelets, and straps at the top. His mask is jagged and black, with a large, orange-rimmed flare shape protruding from each side around the eyes. Katsuki is a crude, arrogant, short-tempered, and aggressive person, especially at the beginning of the series. Katsuki tends to come off as unheroic; this problematic behavior goes all the way back to his early childhood days when he was known to bully a young, Quirkless, Izuku Midoriya. He showed to be extremely arrogant and condescending to those around him, often bragging of his Explosion Quirk's power, and even boasting that he would take on his entire middle school class. He showed open hostility towards Izuku, mainly because of his former Quirkless status, and would frequently put down his dream of becoming a Hero, despite lacking a Quirk, and also gave him the insulting nickname "Deku" (meaning useless and unable to achieve anything). He even threatened Izuku not to apply to U.A. High School and became angry upon both of them passing the Entrance Exam, wanting to be the only person from his middle school to make it there. Quirk allows him to secrete nitroglycerin-like sweat from the palms of his hands and ignite it on command, allowing him to create strong explosions.[4] The more Katsuki sweats, the stronger his explosions become.[19] If Katsuki overuses this power, his forearms will start to ache.

Katsuki has a strong grasp on the applications of his Quirk, something that was acknowledged by Best Jeanist, a top Pro Hero; not only can Katsuki use the explosions for attacking, he can also use them to propel himself and navigate through the air at high speeds, allowing him to fly at his opponents without giving them time to react,[20] as well as evade incoming attacks, even while in the air.[21][22] The shockwave from an explosion can even be used as a shield.

Katsuki can keep up his explosions continuously, long enough to break through Eijiro's hardening Quirk[21] and negate Shoto's "Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall" for a short while before being overwhelmed.[22] As part of his training, Katsuki submerged his hands into boiling water to expand his sweat glands, then created chain explosions toward the sky to increase the scale of his attacks. Izuku Midoriya: Izuku is somewhat short for his age, his round face is framed by a short mop of fluffy dark-green hair which curls up at odd angles around his head, casting noticeably dark shadows onto itself. His eyes are large and somewhat circular and his irises are the same shade of green as his hair, which at times are very watery, and are usually stretched quite wide, giving him an innocent, energized appearance. He has a set of four symmetrical freckles in diamond formations, one on each cheek. Izuku has often been described as "plain-looking" or "not standing out" by others.

Though he was initially very skinny, Izuku has gained toned muscles after his ten months of extensive training with All Might, and as the series progresses, these are shown to become more developed and defined as he gradually grows stronger.Izuku is a very timid, reserved, and polite boy, frequently overreacting to abnormal situations with exaggerated expressions. Due to yeаrs of being looked down on by Katsuki for lacking a Quirk, he is initially portrayed as insecure, tearful, vulnerable, and non-expressive. These traits are especially present around Katsuki, who also constantly harangued him for his aspirations to become a hero. However, after being accepted into U.A., making new friends, and facing Katsuki during the Battle Trial Arc, Izuku gradually matures into a more confident and braver person who's always eager to prove his worth as a hero, eventually developing strong leadership skills, which combined with his passion and strategic abilities, have turned him into a central figure within Class 1-A alongside Katsuki.[7]One For All (ワン・フォー・オール Wan Fō Ōru?): Transferred to him from Toshinori Yagi, Izuku's Quirk allowed him to stockpile an enormous amount of raw power, allowing him to significantly enhance all of his physical abilities to various boundless levels. This resulted in unbelievable levels of strength, speed, stamina, agility, and durability. When Izuku activated One For All, red, vein-like lines course throughout the empowered part of his body. One for all is a secret.

Minoru Mineta: Minoru is a short teenage boy with a large, round head and rather puffy cheeks. His nose is small, stubby, and points slightly upwards, and he has an unusually distinguishable philtrum, oval-shaped eyes with large, black pupils, and notably thin eyebrows. He has a head of short dark purple hair with four large ball-shaped clumps resembling a mohawk. His hero costume is simplistic, consisting only of a purple shirt and mask with a yellow cape, boots, and gloves. His pants are white with a lighter purple trim and stick out quite a lot around his waist. Before the Joint Training Battle, he added a stem-like detail propped up on his hair, contributing to the grape theme of his costume. Minoru is timid but perverted to the point of infamy, which makes him unpopular with the girls and even some of the boys, who consider his interests and mannerisms depraved and rude. His mind frequently trails off to lewd thoughts, even in completely unrelated situations. When an opportunity to peep at the girls arises, Minoru becomes determined to take it, although this often leads to painful results or him being restrained so he won't cause trouble again. Minoru's interest in women is one of his motivations to become a hero, alongside general popularity. He is unashamed of those traits, openly admitting them out loud.

To add to this, Minoru has a huge jealous streak, often envying those who are seen as cool and attract female attention, while lamenting how seemingly simple and underpowered his Quirk is compared to his classmates. Occasionally, Minoru will try to act charming and impressive, though his efforts usually fail and often make him come off as obnoxious.

Minoru can be hypocritical, criticizing others for perceived perverted behavior, even if they are just misunderstandings. Minoru is one who always speaks his mind, even when it comes off as harsh and insulting due to his comments being more on the cynical side. He also has a more teasing and goading side, even when he's not being perverted and has a habit of jeering at others for fun.

However, Minoru is not a bully and does express fear and concern when others are hurt or in danger. When putting his perverted and unpleasant character aside, there are times when he can be genuinely kind and friendly, such as when he assured Ochaco Uraraka that Izuku would recover from his surgery, or when he ran to comfort Izuku Midoriya after the latter returned to U.A. High School following the civilians' angry protest to keep him out. Furthermore, despite his crass attitude, Minoru isn't beyond realizing when he may have offended someone, as seen when he apologized to Mezo Shoji for calling him an octopus while the latter explained his past of being abused because of his appearance.

Minoru easily freaks out in moments of great stress or fear, acting impulsively, crying when the situation does not look favorable, and abusing his Quirk recklessly, to the point of hurting himself. Minoru isn't a very confident fighter and may attempt to flee in highly disadvantageous situations whenever the opportunity presents itself. During his time at U.A. however, Minoru has gradually become braver as he's continued to learn and grow alongside his classmates, standing his ground even when overpowered and clearly terrified. Another one of Minoru's ambitions is to be popular, trying everything in his power to be loved by everyone, oblivious of his perverted behavior being the reason why he isn't. His attempts usually fail, as everything he does gets him nowhere in popularity, only being good friends with Denki Kaminari and Izuku Midoriya and having an on-and-off friendship with Tsuyu Asui, while the rest of the class doesn't talk to him often. While Minoru wants to be cool or popular, he is frowned upon by many girls and even some boys due to his personality.

Despite his bad qualities and nervousness, Minoru proves he can rise to the occasion when needed. He can showcase his fierce courage and aptitude when it truly matters and can usually be reinforced with encouragement. He shows this most of all during times such as the Provisional Hero Licensing Exam, as well as when he helps his classmates face incredibly powerful and dangerous opponents such as All Might (who was masquerading as a villain), Nine, and Gigantomachia. Minoru can also be just as heroic and selfless as the rest of Class 1-A. During the Final War, even after he and his companions were ruthlessly defeated by All For One, he used his remaining strength to plead to the villain to spare his classmate Fumikage Tokoyami and to take his Quirk instead, even though this would have certainly ended his dream of becoming a Hero. Minoru's Quirk allows him to produce and pluck ball-shaped objects from his head; the balls grow back as fast as they're plucked. The balls are incredibly sticky and will stick to any surface; the sole exception is Minoru, as he bounces off them (since he is also made of them). His overall health determines the duration of their adhesive quality. He can pull many of these objects from his head; however, if he plucks too many, it will cause him to start bleeding from his scalp.

As part of his training, Minoru continuously pulled off the balls on his head to increase their adhesiveness, strengthen his scalp, and reduce the risk of bleeding from his head despite suffering from the said injury during his training. Momo Yaoyorozu: Momo is a tall teenage girl with a mature physique. She has long black hair, generally tied into a spiky ponytail with a large strand hanging on the right side of her face. Her eyes are big yet sharp, dark in color, and paired with short eyebrows set in a determined expression.

Her hero costume consists of a high-collared, sleeveless crimson leotard with silver lines at her waist and around her arms, which is open to expose her skin from her neck to just below her navel. She sports calf-length red boots with heels, which dip sharply down in the center, two gold utility belts around her waist, with the back holding her books on composition information, and another thinner one around the top of her chest, below her shoulders. The design choice allows her to create items from as many points in her body as possible, as her Quirk can only be used if her skin is exposed. Momo is a very prudent, dedicated person who is a natural leader. She is levelheaded and calm in dangerous situations, but she isn't above falling into a panic. Momo is very kind, polite, and relatively reserved, yet she can be blunt with her comments about people's mistakes and miscalculations, tending to be very direct and wishing to help her peers improve enough to become great heroes, such as when she tutored her classmates at her home. Momo shows further development as a selfless hero who gets inspiration from others while also taking the role of a leader in her class, thanks to her skills and intelligence. Because of her wealthy upbringing, she has a sensible and respectful attitude toward others, often being discouraged by discourteous behavior.

Momo typically takes adverse situations in stride, expressing little concern for losing most of her clothing in battle, as she knows how to construct another set and would have made her costume even more revealing were it not for restrictions on exposed skin in a costume. However, this often makes others think of her as an exhibitionist. Ironically, she is relatively innocent and sensitive to vulgarity and rude mannerisms, constantly frustrated by sexual advancements from Minoru Mineta and Katsuki Bakugo's crude attitude. This innocence shows that she has a somewhat casual, natural, and non-lewd view toward nudity, which explains her lack of modesty in her costume. Momo's Quirk gives her the ability to create any non-living material/object from her exposed skin by transforming the molecular structure of her fat cells. To create something, she needs to understand the molecular structure of what the material/object is made of.

The more Momo eats, the more material she has to work with, so she needs considerable food ingestion for her Quirk to be effective. However, it takes her a more extended period and more skin exposure to create large objects, to the point where she forces large objects through her costume, leaving it shredded, though she claims she can repair it.

This aspect of Momo's Quirk is likely the reason for her slim figure, as she constantly burns her fat to create objects. It is also possible that this is a significant weakness because if she generates too much without replacing her calories, she can become weak and anemic.

All might: In his empowered form, All Might is a towering figure with a powerfully muscular and well-defined physique, resembling a classic Western comic book superhero. He has chiseled facial features, including a strong jawline, pronounced cheekbones, and bushy eyebrows. His short blond hair is swept backward, with two distinct tufts that stick up slightly to each side. His robust features often cast a shadow over his face, revealing only his striking blue pupils. He is the number 1 hero and a teacher at u.a.
