Backstory: Baron Humbert von Gikkingen or simply known as the "Baron" is a wooden figurine owned by the old man Shiro Nishi. Shizuku is so amazed about it, that she asks Nishi for a permit to write a story about the man statue. In Shizukus fantasy, she imagines how the Baron is looking for his lost love. After Nishi read Shizuku's writing, he revealed the true story behind the Baron statue. According to him, the Baron miniature had a companion figure called Louise and that those two statuettes resemble Nishi himself and his first love Louise during their student times in Germany. They could not buy both at a time as the female "Louise" figurine has been at repairs. Nishi has taken the Baron back home and Louise would pick up the other one a bit later. As the second world war set in, both Nishi and Louise as well the two statues got seperated permanently.

He is a (living) statue of a man who is fully dressed (including a top hat and shoes). He used to belongs to the owner of an antique shop named Shiro Nishi. The baron has an Old German name. His first name Humbert came from hun "warrior" and beraht "bright". It also came into use as a surname and as noble rank.

His surname is von Gikkingen. von also implies his noble origin and Gikkingen could be a fictitious location. No longer wanting to be a statue he chooses the help people.

Muta is Brash and grumpy, Muta is known for his unchecked sense of sarcasm and condescension towards people and his other companions, and for his huge appetite, and protective of people he cares about. This accounted for his chagrined relationship with Toto, but he has a mutual dislike with, though they wouldn't hesitate to team up and work together when the need arises. In spite of his seeming indifference, he did eventually warm up to Haru, whom he praised for standing up for herself. He a really man not a statue.
