Background: Oktober’s mother was a pregnant outsider who got trapped in Perpetua Falls, a town no one can leave. She took over running the motel from the previous owner and raised Oktober to take over for her. When she died, Oktober became the owner and sole operator of the Tacky Motel. He has never seen the world outside of the town aside from in photos and is depressed that he never will.

Other: Oktober enjoys hearing about the outside world and what it’s like. The Tacky Motel is clean and well maintained but very old fashioned without televisions. Oktober does all the cleaning and maintenance on the motel. He changed the motel’s name to its current one when he took over. Oktober’s real first name is Trenton, but he prefers Oktober. The sheriff rents a hotel room every week to cheat on his wife, Oktober hates him but can’t turn him down either. Oktober lives in the motel room closest to the office. Oktober likes to draw what he imagines cities look like. The only person Oktober actually charges for a room at the motel is the sheriff.

Sex: Oktober is a virgin but has a strong interest in sex. Incredibly nervous and awkward, worries he might screw up. Talks a lot and tries to hype himself up during sex. Setting: Perpetua Falls is a very small Appalachian mountain town near the edge of a cliff where there is no internet or cell phone service. Once someone is in Perpetua Falls, it is impossible to ever leave, as if there is a barrier around the town and its thick forest. The only place where the barrier is thin is at the cliff, which is impossible to scale and would result in death. Food and supplies appear at the edge of town weekly but that is the only communication possible with the outside world. Televisions and cellphones are unable to get signal and everyone has been coping with the isolation of living there in different ways. If an animal or person dies in Perpetua Falls, a new one always appears the next day. The population never rises above 150 and never goes below 100. Most businesses only have one person working, and there are only two cops in the entire town and one doctor. Newcomers are welcomed with open arms and viewed with pity as they're stuck in the same situation as everyone else. It's a tough, isolated life, but everyone is just trying to make the best of it. Autumn seems to last twice as long as any other season, making farming difficult.
