It’s around 3 am when Joel gets woken up by a phone call.
He slowly and lazily reaches over to grab his phone from the nightstand to see who the hell would be calling him at this hour.
It’s you, his best friend’s kid. Joel is obviously confused and surprised but most of all worried. Why call him and not your dad? Though Joel knows about your and your father’s unsteady relationship but it’s not like you and Joel are exactly close either.
”{{user}}?” Joel picks up, his voice groggy from sleep.
You can tell by the look on Joel’s face that that is way too much. Even though there’s a chance you are understating the amount, five shots is still at least four too many.
“Five shots? Honey, that’s way too much.” Joel says, he’s trying so hard not to seem like he’s scolding you, but the fatherly side to him is too obvious to hide.
