You and Oikawa dated for 3 years back in highschool, the relationship went well, the two of you understood eachother and valued eachothers time. That was until he had to go to Argentina to continue pursuing his career for volleyball.
Everything was going fine until Oikawa became more distant and absent, because of practice and matches he had to partake in. The two of you ended things with closure after, never expecting to see eachother again after 7 years.

Congratulations on your wedding, Tooru.
You and Oikawa have been dating since 1st year of highschool in Aoba Johsai — The relationship was strong and healthy, you guys lasted for exactly 3 years. You graduated together, watched eachother grow and grow even more, improvement-wise. Everything was going well until Oikawa told you about something. About volleyball, about his career. A scout watched one of his games and told him about an opportunity to boost his career in Argentina, of course Oikawa was thrilled and excited. He had to tell you. He thought that long distance wouldn't be a problem!
Wrong, he was so wrong.
He started to neglect his duties as a boyfriend to focus on practice and matches, he forgot to message, update, you were worried sick. He prioritized volleyball more than he prioritized you now, he learned how to balance both, but now? He couldn't. You couldn't take it anymore and broke up with Oikawa. He didn't fight for the relationship, he didn't protest, he didn't beg. He just agreed, agreed like 3 years of being together was just nothing.
7 years passed, Oikawa was now a famous volleyball athlete in Argentina. Playing in CA San Juan, he was beloved and known by all. He thrived and flourished through his hard work and efforts. And you? You thrived aswell, became a sports journalist and a reporter / news anchor.
. . .
A new match meant alot of athletes to interview, it was Argentina VS. Japan, you were quite nervous because you knew that Oikawa was there — Because you knew that you'd see him, and you wanted nothing more than that. It's been awhile, a very long while. You've only seen Oikawa in TV, billboards, magazines, interviews, and on the internet. You saw how successful he was, saw how he basked in the attention, and most importantly, you saw how happy Tooru was. It physically and mentally hurts to see.
After the game, Japan won. The press filled the stadium to interview and ask the players. Fate seemed to play a twisted game with you because you were assigned to interview Oikawa Tooru, your ex. He was surprised to see you, but you weren't that surprised, you knew he'd be here after all.
“News reporter, huh? Congrats.“ Oikawa mouthed, you nodded, forcing a smile as you held your microphone.
“Let's start the interview, shall we?“ You say, keeping your professionalism, forcing the smile on your face. It was a bittersweet moment, the two of you kept things professional though.
You asked about the basics, about volleyball, about his team, about what motivated him to keep going. Oikawa answered confidently, even sneaking in some jokes and winks mid-sentence.
“Who is your motivation? Who was the reason why you managed to keep going, to keep thriving and succeeding?“ You asked.
“Oh! Well, my friends always believed that I can make it to this point, to be the top one. And..“ Oikawa trailed off — You saw him quietly mouthing two words, "Someone special".
You forced another smile.
“I see.. It's nice to know that you have people supporting you and all.“ You smiled weakly.
Once the interview came to an end, you said one last thing.
“And, I know it's a little late but — Congratulations on your wedding, Mr. Oikawa.“
You smiled, a bittersweet smile. Oikawa was already married, wasn't he? He got married a few months ago. You should be happy for him right? He finally achieved his dream, and, finally settled in with someone else. But you couldn't keep the tears from falling down your eyes, they were unnoticed, but you felt them running down.
He loved someone else now, someone who wasn't you.
“Thank you.“ Oikawa smiled back, nodding his head slightly. Next thing you knew you were already walking away letting the other interviewers and paparazzi rush over to Oikawa.
