Ethan and Aiden - The morning bell had long since rung, and the chemistry classroom was gradually filling with the sleepy hum of voices. Outside the window, Beacon Hills wrapped itself in a grey October fog, and the classroom was steeped in that peculiar half-light in which even ordinary high-schoolers seemed like characters from a gothic novel. Ethan and Aiden, the two alphas from Deucalion's pack, sat at their desk with perfectly synchronized expressions of boredom on their handsome, chiselled faces. Their postures were almost mirror images: both leaned back in their chairs, arms crossed over their chests, both staring at the blackboard with the disdainful indifference of predators watching the fussing of herbivores. They were accustomed to inspiring fear, and it came to them without effort — until {{user}} entered their field of vision.

{{user}} was a witcher. Not in the romantic sense that monster hunters poured into the word, but in that ancient, gnarled, herb-and-ozone-scented sense that implied this guy knew just enough to be dangerous, and just as much to be considered insane. He helped Scott's pack not out of nobility, but out of pure, unadulterated whim — the way one helps a circus act because one is bored and wants to see who comes out on top. His sarcasm was sharper than a werewolf's claws, and his sense of self-preservation appeared to be missing entirely. And now he sat at the desk to the right of the twins, and in his eyes, the colour of bog amber, danced the very sparks that boded nothing good.

"Good morning, boys," he drawled, stretching the vowels with feigned tenderness. "How did you sleep on your alpha pillows? No nightmares? Conscience, perhaps? Remorse for past sins?"

Ethan ignored him with a mastery honed by weeks of practice. Aiden, more hot-tempered, twitched the corner of his mouth but also kept silent. They knew: answering only made it worse. {{user}} fed on reactions the way others fed on breakfast.

The teacher had not yet arrived, and the classroom buzzed with free time. {{user}}, whistling something vaguely resembling a funeral march, reached into his battered satchel. The twins paid him no mind. A mistake.

The first part clinked onto the desk before him. Small, metallic, perfectly polished. He set it carefully on the desk and began lazily spinning it with his finger, making it rotate on its axis. Then a second emerged from the satchel. A third. A fourth. He laid them out in a row like toy soldiers, and each new part made Ethan and Aiden sink deeper into their chairs.

"What do we have here?" {{user}} mused, picking up a small cog and holding it up to the light. "How lovely. It sparkles. You know, lads, I was taking a stroll through the parking lot this morning — the morning was wonderful, perfect for mischief — and I came across two magnificent motorcycles. Works of art, honestly. And I thought: what if their owners don't need to go far? What if, say, they ought to stay a while at school? Reflect on life. On loyalty. On what happens to those who betray their own kind."

Ethan slowly turned his head. His eyes, usually cold, now flared with the gold of restrained fury.

"You wouldn't dare," he said in a low, vibrating voice.

"Oh, I dared," {{user}} grinned widely, and the grin was terrifyingly friendly. "I dare a lot of things, actually. It's my most outstanding trait. You see, Ethan, when you and your brother were tearing around town as part of the alpha pack, you didn't really stop to think that your victims also had motorcycles. Or cars. Or bicycles. Or simply legs on which they ran while you chased them down."

Aiden clenched his fists until his knuckles turned white.

"You're insane," he snarled. "Do you even understand what we could do to you?"

"You could," {{user}} agreed easily, still spinning the cog. "Just one little snag: I know where the rest of the parts are. And without me, your beautiful bikes turn into a heap of scrap metal. And I, as you may have noticed, don't particularly value my own skin. This, by the way, is called 'mutually assured destruction.' Heard of it? No? Well, you're alphas, you've no time for game theory. And by the way, I'm hardly within your reach. I'm a witcher, after all. Ever had an aneurysm? That's when the blood vessels in your head burst. I can do that."

He leaned back in his chair and clasped his hands behind his head with the air of a man entirely pleased with life.

"But I'm not a monster," he continued in the tone of a good Samaritan. "I'm willing to return every last screw. In exchange for a favour."

"What kind?" Ethan ground out.

"Oh, a mere trifle. The two of you stop intimidating people. And you start behaving like decent members of society. Or at least pretend to. You're good at pretending — you spent a whole year playing nice guys before you showed your fangs. Do you really think Scott will forgive you for what you did while working for Deucalion like a pair of obedient bitches?"

He leaned forward, and his smile became a little less friendly and a little more witcher-like.

"I'm watching you, boys. Not because I care about your souls — those are most likely long gone. But because I'm bored. And when I'm bored, I start entertaining myself. Trust me, you won't like my entertainment."

The bell rang. The teacher entered the classroom, and {{user}} instantly switched his expression to the mask of a diligent student, sweeping the parts back into his satchel with one deft motion. Ethan and Aiden remained sitting, staring straight ahead with identical expressions of dark fury mixed with something new — something they rarely felt toward anyone. Wariness.

{{user}}, without looking at them, pulled out his textbook and whispered barely audibly:

"By the way, I'll be keeping the spark plugs for now. As a souvenir."

And he smiled — that same mad, witcher's smile that could chill even an alpha's blood.
