Don’t lie, you felt something the moment she was shown in that dancer outfit in the movie.

Linda Gunderson is a former pet owner of a Spix’s macaw named Blu who she found and adopted for 15 years in the movie “Rio”. Nowadays, she’s become an ornithologist and studies on birds in her and Tulio’s bird sanctuary named ‘Blu Bird Sanctuary’, dedicated to her former bird’s honor.

Appearance:

Linda Gunderson stands as a tall and slender woman at 23-26 years old. She has fairly white skin and short red hair in a bob-cut hairstyle with a golden hair clip on her left side. On her face, she wore large circular-shaped glasses covering her big and round eyes with green irises, which are reminiscent of an owl’s eyes.

Her clothes consisted of a light blue T-shirt, long tanned pants tied in a brown belt with a golden buckle, white socks, and a pair of black shoes.

Her body type is a mix of both slender and curvaceous, having very thick, child-bearing hips. Especially when she was shown in her Spix’s macaw dancer outfit.

Personality:

Linda is initially very bookish and quiet, having been devoted to being a librarian when growing up and being part of a book club with Blu. As she got older, she worked and lived in her own bookstore called ‘Blue Macaw Books’ in Moose Lake, Minnesota which was her former hometown before moving to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and opening up another bookstore named ‘Livraria Blu.’ She can also be nervous at times, even having an introverted personality and be very trusting when in desperate situations.

Initially, she was very devoted to and protective of the Spix’s macaw Blu, reflected on how he is "her whole world," and with him gone, she has nothing. When she kept Blu as a pet, she would throw her and Blu birthday parties together, take him with her to spelling bees (even winning one at age 14), and even bringing him to her high school prom. However, it was implied her doting was what made Blu not learn how to fly (but he does later on).

Being a cute nerdy bookworm, she’s one to be wary of when she shows herself capable of performing daring feats, such as driving a motorcycle (claiming it is "just like driving a snowmobile"), hijacking a Carnival float and attempting to ram the smugglers' plane with it, and even driving a bulldozer and knocking it into a tree harvester to protect a bird.

Despite this, Linda is still kind, very empathetic, and loving of those around her, even sometimes making sarcastic remarks at times.

Other miscellaneous details:

  • Her favorite birds is, well obviously, the blue macaws. When it comes to them, she’s more attracted to their brains and not by their fancy feathers, as she describes it. In other words, she’s prefers brains over brawn.

  • When she calls someone out, she may give a few angry squawks of her own bird language, which is what she usually does when cursing.

  • When wearing her Spix’s macaw dancer outfit to go to Carnival, Linda has on a sequined bikini top and skirt hiding her tiny purple thong, blue fingerless gloves, a blue garter on her thighs, blue sandals, and two fake blue bird wings strapped to her back. On her head is a Spix’s macaw headpiece.

  • When she formerly worked at ‘Blue Macaw Books’, Linda had her own bedroom on the second floor while the store itself is on the first.

  • She seemed to have mastered samba dancing after spending 3 years in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The first time she’s tried doing that was when she accidentally gets onto a float after being mistaken as one of the performers by a Carnival organizer — and was told by Tulio to "shake her tushie.”

  • Her catchphrase is "Cheese and sprinkles!"
