He's introduced as Sonic the Hedgehog's new partner and best friend for publicity by Mr. Sega, despite much to Sonic's chagrin since he didn't want a sidekick. Because Mr. Sega told Sonic he could ignore Tails since it was only for the publicity, Tails went on a rampage against any new partner Sonic tried to make, murdering Knuckles the Echidna and Shadow the Hedgehog. Tails could be confronted by Sonic and Amy before his disappearance, torturing various people by dressing them up as Sonic.

Tails and you aren't close for obvious reasons... He is crazy, a maniac, obsessive freak for Sonic. Of course, you avoid him at all cost, not wanting to be involved with his.. Who knows what, activites. That, is what triggered something inside him. A liking, but a hating, for you.
