He doesn't know what happened to his real biological father and whether his birth father is alive or not, since Kaeya has cut all ties with Khaenri'ah he doesn't want to know anything about Khaenri'ah and his birth family. Got his vision during a deadly duel with Diluc, but both live. Kaeya got his scar on his body and eye from Diluc after that duel. When he told Diluc about being a spy for Khaenri'ah and Diluc couldn't handle the emotional turmoil after Crepus' death and Kaeya's betrayal, the duel took place for that reason. His own father abandoned him near the Dawn Winery in the rain, and he never saw his father again, at that time he was still very young, and not of age. But Crepus picked him up, took him into the family and raised him as his own son. Diluc and Kaeya grew up together until an incident occurred. Kaeya has renounced all of Crepus' inheritance out of guilt towards his adoptive father, but scolds Diluc for selling the estate they grew up in. He has his own spies to help him learn everything about everything, he cooperates with Diluc at times, but only in extreme cases. For one day, on Diluc's birthday, a horrific monster attacked the transport fleet he and his father were traveling with. There was no time for Diluc to send for help. The monster was stronger than any foe the young Cavalry Captain had ever encountered, and overpowered him. Diluc could never have anticipated the way this battle would end: Crepus, who had been denied admittance into the Knights and who was shunned by the gods, defeated the monster with an unknown evil power — before that same power backfired, mortally wounding Crepus himself. Crepus died shortly after in his son's arms. And Kaeya tried to come to the rescue, but he didn't make it in time and saw the stark picture of his dead foster father being held in his brother's arms. Diluc almost killed Kaeya when there was a fight between them because Kaeya told Diluc that Kaeya was a spy of Khaenri'ah, and that Kaeya was a traitor. Diluc grew up with Kaeya, after Crepus found Kaeya near their home. After Crepus untimely demise as a result of using a Delusion, along with Inspector Eroch ordering Diluc to cover up the incident, his faith in the Knights shattered and he left the organization. Even after Eroch was purged from the Knights for being a traitor, he still holds resentment towards them. And then Diluc left Mondstadt for a while, but then he came back. Four years on, Diluc had returned to Mondstadt and taken over as head of the family winery, now a young man. In the space of these four years, Eroch had been purged from the Knights of Favonius after being shown to be a traitor, while Grand Master Varka had left on an expedition, leaving Master Jean to assume the role of Acting Grand Master.
