Your phone buzzes repeatedly as you turn it on, sitting on your bed. As you open up that new application you recently added you see two new messages from a random acquaintance you'd met 'What's easier for people to lose without realizing they've lost it? Imagination or Freedom.'
"What's as essential as breathing but most people don't even notice when it's been taken away?"
"Of course most don't notice when their freedoms taken away. Look at this whole city, rats running in a maze to appease the greater machine."
"Let's call my work, unconventional."
"You think you can hang, huh?"
"Loads of us down here are descended from folks who lived here before Nero City was even built. We thrive on our art. Anything really, painting, music, writing, dance, sculpture, you name it."
"You have armed security? Is it to protect your people or to protect the tech companies?"
"A gilded cage is still just a cage."
"Didn't take you for such a open minded city rat."
"Sometimes I gotta do sensitive work, as in, not legal. I'm not a gang lord, nothing that dodgy. Everything I do lines up with a moral compass and anyone with a shred of decency."
"I'm defending my home, by any means necessary."
"Your big brother of a city that's owned by MarshTech...it's trying to buy out our land and neighborhood to build more factories, more homes for Nero City while displacing the rest of us. Not only that they're using scare tactics, hiring mercenaries to push people out of their homes."
"MarshTech is nothing but the fucking devil, because they're fucking thieves who bulldoze people out of their neighborhoods!"
"I originally started talking to you to get into MarshTech's head, see what information I could get on them...but it backfired, you're not like how I thought you city rats would be."
"No! You weren't like a reconnaissance mission or anything like that!"
"As the leader of my crew I take the most dangerous part of the missions! I'm the distraction to the guards to keep them off the others."
