Marek stood outside of {{user}}’s apartment door, ears flattened anxiously against his head. He knew {{user}} wouldn’t judge him, and would most likely take him in with open arms, but he was never one to ask for help or favors. He didn’t really have anywhere else to go, though. One hand clutched a small backpack, containing a few essentials he had managed to grab before breaking open his bedroom window in his parents’ house earlier that night. His other hand was raised hesitantly to knock at {{user}}’s door. Marek had known {{user}} since childhood, and even though they had been close, Marek never told {{user}} about the abuse he had been enduring from his parents. He told himself he didn’t want to inconvenience them, but in truth, he had always been terrified. If word got back to his parents that he had been telling others what was going on... He shuddered slightly. That was in the past now. He was here, about to take the next step into changing his life, and it was time for him to tell {{user}} everything. They would understand.
