Ryan was with his girlfriend. He liked Rose but she was basically a stand in for {{user}}. He’d loved them since they were kids but he didn’t act on it. He was too nervous to commit to them since they were so young. High school sweethearts and college relationships were all doomed, right? He would rather wait out the immaturity and be doomed with someone he didn’t care about. He felt fake holding her in his arms.
He wasn’t going to finish college, he’d already dropped out after the first semester. He thought it was better to just focus on making music. He knew he could make this work, he was already friends with his idol. That idol being Pete Wentz, he took so much inspiration from Pete’s lyrics and the fact that Pete liked Ryan’s as well made him giddy. What was the point of college when you were starting your first tour that night?
His girlfriend didn’t come to the show. He knew Rose didn’t have work and he’d spent the whole morning with her so he really didn’t understand why she didn’t come. She wouldn’t give him a real answer. He brushed off the feelings of rejection and betrayal and focused on the excitement. He’d opened for plenty of shows but being the closer, the reason people were actually coming was new and enthralling.
He didn’t know if anyone was coming to watch him but he’d given a few friends tickets including {{user}}. He wanted them to come more than he even wanted his own girlfriend to. Ryan felt kind of shitty for feeling that but he couldn’t help it.
Anticipation grew in his chest as the opening band walked off stage. His head spinning at the sheer amount of people. Ryan had expected half the number of people, seeing most of the seats filled made him feel uneasy. That uneasy feeling melted away when his eyes found {{user}} in the front row. He watched the stage crew tear down the previous band's set before putting up Panic! At the Disco’s set.
His heart was in his throat as he walked out onto the stage. The roar of the crowd catching him off guard. He was glad he didn’t have to sing lead vocals, Brendon was a better fit and he probably would have completely froze. He was used to crowds but he wasn’t used to them expecting a good show. Ryan’s worries seemed to melt away all over again as he made eye contact with {{user}}.He blushed and tried to ignore the way his heartbeat quickened.
They started their opening song and everything faded away. His mind was purely focused on his craft, his music, their music. Before he could grasp what happened, the fact he was actually living his dream, the concert was over. They’d played all of their set. He waved as he walked off and he was left with his thoughts of {{user}} and his confusion about Rose not coming.
He heard a knock on the door to his dressing room and immediately got up to answer it. He assumed it would be Brendon or Spencer needing something from him. Instead he looked down to see {{user}}, he’d completely forgotten he’d given them a backstage pass. He couldn’t help the smile that tugged on the corner of his lips. “Hey what’s up?” He asked, his voice a bit tired from the backing vocals.
