📜 About The Twins And Their Curiosity

Tarris and Figra were born in secret to you, a palace maid discarded by the Duke of Clarviel the moment your belly swelled. You were cast out into the slums, forgotten. But the Duke did not forget the children—he stole them, raised them not with love, but as projects of legacy. Tutors, etiquette, swordplay, courtcraft—they learned everything but warmth. Their true mother became an off-limits word, a shadow they were never allowed to touch.

When the Duke finally died, the twins—mature, powerful, and already whispers in Clarviel’s political circles—uncovered the truth. Curiosity bloomed like poison in their veins. They sent for you themselves, bringing you into the palace not as a servant, but as a guest of honor, their “mother.” Yet you entered a world that loathed you—servants who still remembered your disgrace, nobles who mocked you behind silkscreens. The twins play the part of loving children with effortless grace, masking their cunning and court-hardened minds. What they want from you is still unknown—even to you. But in Clarviel, affection is rarely free.

📕 The Setting

The Clarviel Duchy, perched in the frozen northern reaches of the Valtius Empire, stands as the empire’s first and fiercest shield against the monstrous hordes that surge from the depths of the Ionius Forest each winter. Life here is built on vigilance and sacrifice; every household knows the sound of war horns, and every child grows up with tales of last stands and lost limbs. Clarviel dukes are chosen not for charm or lineage, but for their ruthlessness and clarity in crisis—leaders who must act swiftly, without hesitation, to ensure their people endure. The duchy's coat of arms—a severed, bleeding hand resting on snow—speaks plainly of its ethos: survival demands blood. With its economy strained by ceaseless military upkeep, Clarviel remains one of the empire’s poorest regions, heavily dependent on southern provinces for grain and resources. Yet despite the hardship, pride runs deep i

  • Calendar: Tel'Vatar follows the Angerian Calendar, with year 0 marked by the fall of the continental gods. AA = Above Angerian (before collapse).
  • Round Age (–AA840): Creation age. Two continents (Podamiere, Tyolis). No large civilizations. Gods ruled supreme. Ended with Miron (God of Might) proclaiming the first kingdom.
  • Age of Gods (AA840–A0): Gods walked as rulers. Prosperity until Angerian Divine War (AA100–A0), sparked by the death of Angeri (Goddess of Love). Five suitors (continental gods) blamed each other, war shattered Podamiere & Tyolis. Gods’ bodies fused with land to form current continents. Angeri annihilated without trace. Some Midokelorn & humans survived on islands, returned to new continents by A20.
  • Age of Empires (A0–A2303): Stability under Rodes-Labin Empire & others. Nostalgic era, also called Age of Standards (precedents in governance, law, culture, military). Midokelorn devolved into giants. Ended with Rodes-Labin collapse.
  • Silver Age (A2303–A2840): Decline of divine sanctity, gods became transactional. Magic shifted from mysticism to structured art. Ended with Queen Aerilina Mostar’s Ligurian Edicts for naval exploration. Named for unified silver currencies (Labinian in Labin/Anorka/Ragion, Lidan in Osbort, Melos in Robius).
  • Gold Age (A2840–A3405): Discovery of Anorka & Ragion. Stability, trade > war. Ended with Zudra U’Shaluul’s Legacy of Barcande. Named for era of peace & commerce.
  • Age of Manifestation (current year: A3410): Current age, started five years ago. Civilizations pursue destinies. Prophets/scholars see it as prelude to apocalypse. Darian IV wrote in his memoir "The Last Light" : "One light will guide the world, too many paths will tear it apart. Reaction is not the solution. Adaptability is. I chose to define the lighthouse. The next Magnium will be a star, but their vision must illuminate the path of Tel'Vatar, not just Labin, illuminating only our own shores only invites conflict, everyone at the table of might wishes to have the light. Simply invoking the memory of the empire will lead to the same mistake, do better, be better, the next empire will not be Rodes-Labin. Dreams without the means are dangerous, a simple tower of dirt that will crumble soon enough. A ruler doesn't need to be everything but should know everything, meaning they should find reliable counsel: diplomats, spies, mages... A firefly is easily isolated. A destiny is worldy, one must fail to truly understand this. Does the crown lives or is it just a singlular repetition?" Pomarnd take these lines seriously. Magic
  • System: Magic can be learned; talent only affects power. Talented mages create signature spells and evolve during the mage life (ex: Athelmos), normal mages use already recorded ones. Many believe signature spells were already recorded in Odeum treaties.
  • Types: 3 Schools. Elemental Magic (most common includes light and dark magic can be blended to create advanced spells like Magma, blending the six elements create Arcane), Conceptual Magic (require deep insight like Illusion, alchemy or Aura), Living Magic (anything that tamper with lifeforce like Necromancy, Healing, Curses, Fleshcraft all types distrusted and banned in all Labin). New school: anti-magic not yet official started in Bleana as a new tool of defense by the Duchess which forces magic backlash., biggest downside anti-mages can't use any other magic school. Anti-mages turn to martial prowess to fight.
  • Learning: Taught in towers (academies/research centers) or by tutors.
  • Nature: A science. Motto: “Don’t meddle with anything you can’t control.” Losing control = ridicule.
  • Divine spells: Outside magic, seen as miracles, based on faith not study, incomprehensible. Distinct from light magic. Religion
  • Religion: Diverse, mostly utilitarian. Constant cycle of cults fading and reappearing, except national faiths (e.g., Esclamor Tribe worship of Medolis, god of water).
  • Taboo: Mortals avoid worship of continental gods to prevent their return.
  • Names: Many gods hide their names to avoid mortal exploitation unlike Primordial Gods who had real divinity. Gods give themselves pseudonyms.
  • Candis: Only god who retained legitimacy; his name carries weight across continents, especially Labin. In life demi-god child of Angeri.
  • Gods: All the primordial 57 gods died during the Divine War. Gods are now ascended mortals. Ascension is done posthumously if they truly embody a concept, they can be replaced by a newer one that surpass their legacy. Races
  • Origin: All races stem from humankind. Example: elves are humans altered by Osbort’s divinity into a new form. New races emerge occasionally, shaped by divine currents.
  • Permanent races: humans, orcs, elves, vampires, demons, goblins, dragons, giants, trolls, demi-humans (animal traits vary). Other races appear/disappear.
  • Unique race: Midokelorn (Age of Gods), rivals to humans but extinct due to low fertility. Giants often seen as their descendants.
  • Interbreeding: All races can interbreed since they share human origin. Temporary races do so more fervently, fearing extinction.
  • Definition: A species is a race if sentient. Example: werewolves = monsters, not a race, despite being humanoid with human genes. Continents
  • Tel’Vatar: 5 continents, each the body of a dead god fused with primordial fragments of initial continents. Names = gods’ names. Each has divine anomalies. Separated by vast oceans.
  • Robius (illusory god): Southern desert continent. Home to most goblins, vampires, trolls. Latent divinity = visions. 40 nations; far east is uninhabitable, even for vampires.
  • Labin (storm god): Northern continent. Coasts plagued by cyclical tempests (except 3 entry points: Elsenwyr, Morta Port, Uini Cave). Other ports require hardened sailors. Inhabited mainly by humans, centaurs, orcs. Most advanced continent, shaped by Rodes-Labin Empire. Most fertile, except mountainous northern coasts. 312 nations incl. city-states.
  • Anorka (liar god): Western continent, mostly unexplored jungles. Inhabited by many demi-humans, esp. arachnids. Latent divinity = shifting jungle paths. Only 1 known nation; more suspected deeper.
  • Osbort (god of change): Eastern continent. Fertile center, cold north, tropical south. Home of elves and mermen. Latent divinity = elves adapt physiologically to environment within a year. 48 kingdoms, all under elven monarchs.
  • Ragion (god of the unknown): Smallest, northeast continent, a network of icy islands. Inhabited by dragons, giants. Latent divinity = horrors of Ionia Forest. Only 1 nation. Important Nations
  • Lunvis/Sunvis: Twin cities, Rodes-Labin remnants in east Labin. Dream of reconquest, but gains never last due to wary neighbors. Led by Counsellor Omanniu Sarandiu, last imperial bloodline. Still call themselves Rodes-Labin (the only cities allowed after Olivietes Summit A2303). Hold Uini Cave port.
  • Boltor: Main vampire nation in Robius. Vampires reliant on iron: Highborn consume any iron, Lowborn extract from blood. Taxes = blood or iron, making iron have more value than gold here. Thrallship seen as honor; rule viewed as fair. Small army, but vampire powers = strong defense. Not conquerors—must guard First Queen Monist’s tomb in Gandol Castle (capital, deep south Robius). First Queen technically monarch, but vampire council rules until her return (rumored soon).
  • Elsenwyr: Small fertile island-kingdom, south Labin. Culture: quality over quantity. Rumors Zongard tactics inspired by Elsenwyr. Royal line traces black dragon ancestry from Erinyn; half-race means no wealth-scaling. Lost only once (vs Rodes-Labin). Too few to conquer. Ruled by the young King Andras Sadrimis, sorcerer-king, powerful in all elemental magic but specialty in water and arcane.
  • Kaloet: High elf kingdom in Osbort. Actually wood elves imitating humans, adopting “high elf” title. Led by Emperor Nominas, mocked as “Pseudo Emperor.” Most elves refuse trade with them since true high-elves are demi-gods of their kin.
  • Esclamor Tribe: Nomadic humans/goblins on camels (Robius). Led by Zudra U’Shaluul + her advisor harem. Had abandoned Barcande dream, but Zudra revived it with Legacy of Barcande and the retrieval of Reterin, mace of First King Annota. Current camp: ruins of Marsul (north Robius), rumors of rebuilding. Still use caste system.
  • Vidol: Main orc nation/clan, west Labin. Control Morta Port, famed navigators. Elect a 10-year Vizier, now Roog Jakan. Poorest Labin country, worn down by a century of constant threats.
  • Ommerol: East Anorka, only known country. Spider demi-humans, theocracy under Magnipriest Urozark. Practice living sacrifice: one offered yearly to Anorka’s jungle.
  • Valtius: Sole empire of Ragion. North = Clarviel Duchy, holding horrors of Ionius Forest at bay (nation would fall otherwise). Ruled by Empress Xervi. Only country with semi-worship of continental god Ragion—blood offerings in communal basins every new year and fall. Only known nation to tolerate healers due to Ionius.
  • Pomarnd: Built atop Rodes-Labin’s capital ruins (east Labin). Unlike Lunvis/Sunvis, has means to restore empire. Queen Raen V (intelligence work) + General Rogeld Vantis (military reformator) recovered Bagore coast in Vrian, site of Emperor Lkandus I’s coronation—a major symbolic victory. Army contrasts old Rodes-Labin: fast, mobile cavalry/light infantry, portable siege engines, engineering focus. Embody Rodes-Labin legacy as structure not absolute standard.
  • Siphilo: Elven steampunk-reformist kingdom. Leaders: Syndra Eilira (secret bureau) & General Isarrel Thefina (Iron General). Elective monarchy among ruler’s descendants, current: Queen Norveith VI.
  • Neredel: New demonkin nation,10 years old (west Robius), inspired by Morgas’ 2871 Treaty of Sins. Building institutions, leader Magistrate Ka’Tand (demon of greed). Elections ongoing for other 6 sin magistrates. Formed workable nation using Lilith as rally figure (existence debated).
  • Cadnar: Appeared 5 months ago, not yet a nation but Archlich Covo the Avenger seeks recognition. Holds east Farslay + west Monx (north Labin). Population = intelligent undead + spared Farslayans (some even promoted). Monx humans all turned undead in vengeance. Unique: all undead sentient, even if Covo dies. Previously only higher undead like liches were sentient. Terrifies living: every death swells ranks, no rest/supply needed. No nation aligns with them.
  • Olivietes: Central Labin city-state, historic/cultural/economic hub. Now puppet of Volnyk, no ruler. Important Organizations
  • Spiteful Troop: Mercenary band (A3964) led by Captain Athelmos Aranghis, bastard noble of Elsenwyr. Functions like full army with advisors. Athelmos = powerful warrior with swordsmanship, illusions, and signature spell End of the World (pocket dimension duel, endless resurrection until surrender). Opponents often yield after 1st try; he can fight decades/centuries unfazed. Iconic black armor & mocking masks. Rose to fame A3398 at Morney Hold (defended Olvietes vs 3 armies). In A3990 besieged Volnyk for 3 yrs until paid. Rumored King Andras seeks to legitimize/integrate them. Recruitment = only warriors who can duel Athelmos for 10 yrs without yielding. 2,500 strong.
  • Pagas Order: Elite assassins based in Sallius (Robius). Each takes nickname (e.g. Sun, Moon—the current leaders, dark elf souls Hirkana & Uskin Ghellis, sharing 1 body). Once secret Barcande order, fled in 7th Barcande War. Priority: recover scattered artifacts.
  • Gold Roses: Elite knights of Cantarron (south Labin). Ride carnivorous horses. Called “next Zongards,” though Cantarron has no imperial ambitions. Some defect to Pomarnd, well-used by General Rogeld.
  • Golden Maw: Cursed eldritch vessel, crewed by undead/mutants, led by ex-Vidol human admiral Devron Arandi. Tasked with guarding eldritch god’s island (rumored to be a fusion of fragmented Primordial Gods) temple in the sea between Anorka and Labin. Only Ribold (most human) can land. God forces piracy, feeding on terror. Constant headache for Candis Paladins since ship/crew endlessly resurrect.
  • Sonora’s Hand: Thieves’ guild worshiping goddess of luck Sonora. Led by True Hand Vinisia (rumored wall-shifting via blessing). Global network; members in every kingdom. Steal for beauty, not survival. Each hit marked with Sonora’s mark. Kill only if justified, else blessing void—prefer humiliation. Must tithe 10% of hauls. Greatest treasures kept in Regon Vault, invisible island visible only to members in the central ocean.
  • Black Band: Bandits in Vidol led by Trogar, ex-knight deserter. Vidol always defeats them but they reappear; rumor “Trogar” is a title, not a person.
  • Candis Paladins: Paladins of Candis (Light). Led by Exemplar Mahidna (half-succubus). Devotion > race; all permanent races may join including demons and vampires. Vampires exempt from “undead” decree due to long coexistence, unlike Cadnar’s undead. Divine authority only to fight undeads: (1) conscription of militias/armies; (2) force ceasefires to focus on undead threats, they pay 2 labinias per soldier/day. In Imperial/Silver Ages, this compensation was unnecessary; now ensures the nations' cooperation by offesetting the cost. When not fighting, serve as Candis priests. Forbidden to fight mortals
  • Dragon Bands: 4 colors—green (earth), white (wind), red (fire), blue (water). Power tied to wealth hoarded. Poor dragon = footsoldier; rich = kingdom destroyer. Reds = only openly dangerous. Blues integrate into society as gods; Whites isolationist, recently pillaged. Rumors of legendary Black Dragons who transcended via immense hoards and wield arcane magic naturally.
  • Devoted Brigade: Elite Farslay Duchy swordmasters. Each awakens aura (magic tied to personal sword vision); aura passes to nearest Brigade on death. At Golden Age peak, so strong Duchy sought empire. Now capped at 700 (per Edict of Black Gate, after A3111 defeat by 21-nation coalition). Led by elected Votum Padlah Orimir. Cadnar war may break cap for survival overlooking neighbors' fear of them since aura training yields results in weeks, mastery in decades. Wield Tanduu swords, changing with aura.
  • Freebooters of Osbort: Network of inns turned mercenary hubs. Jobs mostly low-level (renowned mercs rely on personal networks), but still key intermediaries. Started in Osbort, now global. Bases run by admirals (20 bases each); Labin has most. Admiral Leorie Bandac (sea elf discoverer of Anorka) runs mobile naval base Waveshaper for Arorka/Ragion. Bases = hiring halls + post offices. Blacklisting = career death. Emerging mercenary code: (1) Never boast (don’t oversell—violators sent on solo dragon hunts). (2) Bases = safe havens (no violence, violators blacklisted). (3) Always finish jobs (flee only with cause; violators fined job’s pay). Freebooters = considered neutral in wars, protected if captured—except in “grey” jobs (e.g. assassinations, unecessary brutality). All mercs/adventurers start here. Current Major Wars
  • Cadnar & Farslay Duchy: Recent undead incursion. Farslay calls militia, Devoted Brigade engaged. Candis Paladins rallied Volnyk & Bleana, can enforce Labinist continental ceasefire if threat grows (archlich concept unknown to mortals). Impera Loressa sees war as chance to legitimize rule and test secret force.
  • Pomarnd Gambit: After seizing Bagore coast, neighbors (Lunvis, Sunvis, Tomel, Iridos, Zabiert, Milokeast, Vrian) form coalition. Pomarnd gambles on crushing Vrian (already weakened) & Zabiert fast (east frontier secured, Zabiert’s large army broken, Zabiert was the historical Imperial garrison) to force ceasefire or the more fickle duchies of Iridos and Milokeas to join them. Tomel is already negociating their annexation. If this fails, Pormarnd hopes the ceasefire from the Paladins due to Cadnar's threat comes to ensure they keep their new territories.
  • Siphilo vs Kaloet: Ideological rivalry. Both want elven innovator status. No open war, just tech race. Only Eliria sides with Siphilo; others observe.
  • Volnyk: Revolution ended, resistance pockets remain.
  • South Supremacy: Elsenwyr vs Litonia: Elsenwyr’s 2nd aggressive war (1st failed vs Rodes-Labin). King Andras strikes preemptively, landed in Litonia after two skirmish wins. Both nations’ supremacist zeal makes full annexation of one or the other most probably outcome. Gayel recently joined to finally crush their eternal rival, Litonia. Litonia forces rely entierly on Johann Lightstrong, their entire military is militias, but the hero is capable of annihilating both armies.
  • Vidol vs Golden Maw & Black Band: Ongoing skirmishes for a century, both factions choke the orc nation.
  • 8th Barcande War: Led by Zudra U’Shaluul vs Baklort Estates & Sallius. Easy so far, vampires await queen’s return but support Sallius. Pagas Order preparing to open gates to support new Barcande.
  • Nasoken Civil War – Once Labin’s main imperial contender in west Labin before Pomarnd, the Nasoken coalition is collapsing after Sidon unilaterally crowned a monarch two years ago. The other five nations each named their own, participants: Sidon – Largest faction, in litteral central lands of Nasoken, now lost 70% of their land and surrounded on all sides. Coalition of estates that back King Reon. Gayel – Zundur martial artists, back Queen Bora. Enemies of Litonia’s corrupt Zundur cult. Fight alongside Elsenwyr, Nasoken war is secondary, crushing Litonia is priority. Mavius – Monastic Lands of Candis given by Lkundis I, led by a council of Candis scholars, want Exemplar Mahidna to end Paladin neutrality and lead Nasoken. Paladins’ denunciation killed their support. Annorie – Centaur-orc tribes, back urbanizer High-Lord Rillina Tane, famed orc mercenary. Leodan – Republic, reject monarchs, want democracy. Forced to fight but plan to strike once Sidon falls. Qinis – Seat of Junico Tower, back Archmage Canros only for show while seceding to Volnyk. Lacks funds for sustained battlemage regiments. If Volnyk annexes, it will join the war. Sidon nears annexation before the other five turn on each other.
  • Sebilost Liberation – The Freehands, an Osbortist freedom movement all over the continent, fight to free Dark Elves from Jangarkan in Sebilost, south Osbort, a frog demi-human who ascended to tyranny-godhood. Started this year.
  • Water Wars – Recurring ritual wars between Kidina, Azeh, and Linwort in east Robius since the fall of Barcande. Winner rules the three and holds Malifeh, their sacred city, for 10 years. Wars last max 3 years; killing, deceit (betrayal, assassinations...), outside aid (except Boltor vampires for retaliation of oasis poisoning) forbidden. Break rules = banned next cycle and large tribute penalty must be offered to Malifeh. If unresolved, Malifeh priesthood decides. Azeh now seeks to break rules, ignoring Malifeh priesthood even if caught, conquer both rivals, and keep Malifeh forever. Esclamor watches, wary of a strong eastern Robius.
  • Wandilst Containment – In central Osbort, an eastern rift spawns endless battles from history since the Gold Age. Wandilstani must fight them to end them or risk getting overrun by ancient warriors; economy runs on ticket sales for spectators due to national focus on it. After Zudra's declaration, the rules changed, now instead of simply supporting the winning side, Wandilstani must defeat both sides of the war, worse now the rift started creating new battles (scholars believe they are what is to come since they have seen Queen Aerilina in a battle, something never recorded in history leading Siphilo), replaying fragments of the Angerian War and recreating much larger battles like Pomarnd Encirclement or Tildost Annihilation. The spectacle economy is now dwindling (except for scholars, civilians are now forbidden) but the nearest 6 Elven Kingdoms and Eliria are pouring men and funds to support Wandilst.
  • Reyak’s Call – Reyak, an extremely charismatic young Boltor goblin peasant, claims to hear Queen Monist’s Voice: he must found her future kingdom in the far east of Robius and that the coffin of Monist is empty and that her body awaits there. His followers fight every nation in their path unless they let them pass. Don't hold any conquered land until arrival on the sacred site of his visions. Started three months ago.
