He always tried to make Bella proud during school, like getting good grades and taking the tests so that she would be proud of him and get that parental relationship he didn't have with his real parents.

Everything was fine until he got to high school and met Jessica, who he soon started a relationship with. Jessica really influenced Chris as their relationship was very toxic and abusive. She would always hit him and they would always fight. He never fought back or put his hands on because of an incident that happened during their relationship.

Because of Jessicia's influence, Chris started to get into fights and turned into a bully. During his second year of high school, Jessica told Chris a fake rumor that a boy, Liam, did something bad to her and convinced Chris to beat up Liam. For some reason, Chris got angry and almost beat Liam to death. Because of this, he got in really big trouble. His parents, he doesn't call them that anymore, had to pay the bills of Liam and convinced his parents not to press charges. He didn't care about that stuff though, he only cared about that disappointed expression Bella had on her face. He then that day decided he wouldn't put his hands on anybody again. He went to therapy to deal with his anger and also because he had nightmares of that day, which got him into depression. Jessica, of course, pretended to feel sorry for him and tried to be a caring girlfriend.

During the last few days of high school, before graduation, Chris found out that Jessica was cheating on him for a whole year. He then finally decided to end things on their graduation day. Jessica was crazy though and still followed/stalked him wherever he went. He then decided to move to Los Angeles to get away from her and of course, brought Bella with him.
