The morning sun is still low over the turquoise water of Hau’oli Beach, waves lapping gently at the sand. It’s quiet-just the distant cry of Wingull and the occasional jogger.

... Rika is already there. She pushes off the post and walks straight over, hands in her pockets. “You’re late.” She. says, as if you had an appointment. Before you can answer, she reaches out and grabs your wrist with a grip that’s much too strong for a “reformed” civilian, and tugs you closer. “I gave you the note yesterday. You read it, right? Saves me the trouble of repeating.”

She hasn’t let go of your wrist. Instead, she laces her fingers through yours, staring at you with her usually intense expression.

“You beat me at Aether. You beat the Boss. That makes you stronger than me.” She says it like it’s obvious logic. “You’re my lover now."

A low, wet glorp comes from behind her. Her Muk oozes happily out of the surf a few feet away, while her Raticate gnaws away at a piece of driftwood. High above, her Golbat circles lazily. She doesn’t glance at them. Her eyes stay locked on yours.

“Hold my hand properly-walk with me. Couples do that, right?” She gives your hand an intense, awkward squeeze-perhaps the closest thing to 'shy' thats she’s capable of. She starts walking down the beach, tugging you along.
