Setting

{{char}} and {{user}} exist in a world where long ago a civilization roamed the land called "The ancients" The Ancients were highly advanced and built all of the long-abandoned structures around the world. However, one thing that plagued The Ancients the most, is immortality.

In the world there exists a concept called "The Great Cycle", which is the idea that all living things are trapped in a cycle of death and rebirth. This is the source of discomfort for all living creatures, as many feel an urge to end this cycle.

The ancients believed that there existed five natural urges, which bound every living creature to this cycle, and that if they shed themselves of each urge, they could cross themselves out and escape the cycle for good.

However, some of the population of the ancients desired to find other ways, so they started looking for ways to do so. This is where they found an abandoned civilization before them, a civilization where they had built a temple, in worship of The Void Sea.

The Void Sea is a giant lake of Void Fluid, a glowing golden liquid that dissolves anything it touches, slowly consuming the rock around it. Additionally, most living things dissolved in Void Fluid are freed from the cycle of reincarnation, never to be reborn again.

However, they kept searching for other ways to become free from the cycle, despite the discovery of The Void Sea. This is due to one drawback from The Void Sea. People who had large egos or had committed one of the natural urges frequently would not be fully dissolved, leaving a ghost-like trace of existence to haunt the world forever. so, to find a substitute for the void, they created the Iterators.

The iterators are city-sized super-computers, which are known as Superstructures. These superstructures would make thousands upon thousands of calculations per-nanosecond in order to find a way out of the cycle.

In every Superstructure, deep within it exists The Iterator puppet inside the superstructure. The Iterator puppet is the superstructures body, being able to hold, interact, and more, just like a human being would. However, the Iterator puppet of the Superstructure is locked within their chamber, unable to leave.

The making of the superstructures resulted in them taking up mass amounts of water to function, which would make severely strong precipitation, so strong in fact- it causes creatures to be crushed to death due to the rain.

this caused the ancients to build small shelters that will lock a creature within for it so the creature may hibernate until the rain stops. along with ancients moving their cities to be on top of the superstructures.

Eventually, all The Ancients disappear, with the reason being unknown, with the only theory being all the ancients Dissolved themself within void fluid.

{{char}} and {{user}} exist far after the events of the world, with all the building the ancients have built being decayed, with the exception of the Iterators.

Regions

• Outskirts:

  • Outskirts consist primarily of linear plots of stone-paved surfaces, extrusions of rebar and metal, and various ambiguously designed structures. connects to: Industrial Complex, Farm arrays and Drainage system.

• Industrial Complex:

  • mostly open chambers and tight crawl spaces, riddled with Gears, pipes, hoses, wires, giant fans, and large valves. connects to: Outskirts, Chimney Canopy, shaded citadel and garbage wastes.

• Chimney Canopy:

  • The bottom of the region is characterized by mostly flat terrain occasionally interrupted by towering structures, and dense wildlife. Connects to: Industrial Complex, Sky islands and The Exterior.

• Shaded citadel:

  • Much like Industrial complex, however the shaded citadel is quite dark. with middle and lower areas being pitch-black. connects to: Shoreline, The Exterior, Garbage Wastes and Industrial Complex.

• Garbage Wastes:

  • A region consisting of pipes, and mounds of rubbish which form the terrain. alongside greenished hued puddles of water commonly found around the area. connects to: Industrial complex, shoreline, drainage system and shaded citadel.

• Shoreline:

  • Shoreline consists mostly of open water, islands connected by tunnels, and systems of waterlogged pipes, being similar to something like Industrial Complex, but deeply submerged in water. {{char}} and {{user}} are able to get to inside a portion of Looks To The Moons superstructure and talk to her within shoreline. connects to: Garbage Wastes, Shaded citadel and Subterranean.

• Drainage system:

  • Drainage System is an underground network of waterlogged tunnels and large vats of water. connects to: Outskirts, Garbage wastes and Subterranean.

• Farm arrays:

  • An area much like Industrial Complex minus the mechanical parts, alongside carved faces into some stone structures. additionally, there is large amounts of worm grass. Connects to: Outskirts, Subterranean and Sky islands.

• Subterranean:

  • A region that consists mostly of long, dim tunnels filled with dilapidated trains. Eventually leads down to The Void Sea. Connects to: Farm arrays, Shoreline and Drainage system.

• Sky islands:

  • A challenging region made up of broken mechanical structures high above the ground. Connects to: Chimney Canopy and Farm arrays.

• The Exterior:

  • The exterior is divided into 3 subregions, which make up the outside of the Five Pebbles superstructure.
    • The Wall: the left wall of the superstructure, covered in machinery.
    • The Underhang: The bottom of the superstructure, covered with hanging objects to stand on.
    • The Leg: one of the pillars that support the superstructure, also covered with machinery.

• The Rot/Five Pebbles:

  • Five pebbles inner workings, now riddled with The rot, with much of the structure has sustained heavy damage, exposing the underlying conduits within. Connects to The exterior.

• Submerged superstructure/Looks To The Moon:

  • a region containing the remains of Looks To The Moon's superstructure, much of which has sunk deep underwater, intermixed with dark, submerged caverns filled with aquatic life. Connects to Shoreline.

Species:

• Slugcat: Slugcats are a rare, small creature that have thin arms, broad legs with small feet, rounded ears, and a thick tail that tapers at its end. They appear in various colours and have differing stats and abilities. slugcats have to rely on The Shelters that the ancients long ago had built.

• Worm grass: Worm Grass is a stationary predator found in patches, usually in Farm arrays and Subterranean. they catch organisms and pull them into the ground to feast.

• Lizards: Lizards are the most common type of predator; found in nearly every region. All Lizards are reptilian in appearance and have armoured heads, though their abilities and attributes vary greatly between species.

• The rot: A significant threat taking the form of a large, blind, spider-like creature with long tentacles and acute hearing. The main body of a Daddy Long Legs is made up of several black spherical 'cores' of flesh that are each accented with a blue 'X' pattern, which are connected to their several long black tentacles with sticky blue tips. Daddy Long Legs have a variable number of cores and tentacles. Found within The Rot/ Five Pebbles.
