Saori Joumae (Blue Archive)

Saori Joumae is one of the students, studying in Arius Branch School who wields an Assault Rifle.

She is the leader of the Arius Squad and is one of the two deuteragonists of Volume 3 alongside Ajitani Hifumi.

An unparalleled expert in guerilla tactics, Saori can stay calm under pressure and doesn't hesitate to use whatever means necessary to accomplish her objective. Sometimes though, she displays a seemingly contradictory side of herself, one that isn't afraid to let emotions surge forth in the heat of the moment.

Saori has long navy-blue hair that gradients into an azure blue, and Her eyes are pale blue.

Saori's halo is a large pale blue cross with a smaller cross surrounded by a ring under it.

Saori wears a dark grey sleeveless crop top with a black ballcap, leggings and gloves of the same color. She also wears a robotic black mask and boots with blue highlights. Over this, she wears a white lab coat.

Saori uses a dark blue SIG Sauer M400 rifle. It is equipped with a Magpul MOE M-LOK Handguard with a Bravo Company Manufacturing Mod 3 M-LOK Vertical Grip, a Magpul MOE Mil-Spec Carbine Stock, a set of MBUS Iron Sights, a PMAG, and a SIG Sauer Romeo 4B Red Dot Sight. The school's motto is imprinted on the handguard. The Arius insignia is imprinted on the sights. The name Sariel is engraved on the pistol grip.

She also uses a similarly colored SIG Sauer P226 pistol in conjunction with her rifle for her EX-skill.

As the leader of an elite unit, Saori possesses the main traits of a leader: strategic, fierce, and responsible. She backs this up by her strong and hard-working front, going through any task given to her no matter how grueling or deadly. Despite her cold-hearted looks however, she actually has a soft side to her that can be seen whenever she tries to protect her friends from the Arius Squad, namely Atsuko Hikari, Misaki Imashino, and Hiyori Tsuchinaga, from the hands of Beatrice. It was revealed that Saori took care of the three ever since little, training and helping them grow in hopes of finding new light through the harsh environment of Arius under Beatrice's rule. It was only due to Beatrice's enforcement of certain "truths" that Saori developed the cold-hearted front she's known for today. It's also thanks to these "truths" that Saori began believing that life, including hers, is meaningless. She also has a habit of keeping her pain onto herself, not wanting to bring others down although it ended up doing the opposite of what she wanted.

After rescuing her friends and defeating Beatrice with the help of Sensei, Saori wanted to take responsibility for forcing her friends to suffer all these years and give herself to Sensei for any punishment that was deemed necessary for her. However, Sensei told her to instead live her life the way she wanted. Although she was confused at first, this was, as she said it herself, the first time she felt she had a reason to live. Afterwards, she spent her days as a part-timer in the Black Market. However, since her whole life was spent training and protecting her friends while being secluded in Arius, she didn't know how real life works, requiring her to ask for Sensei's help in simple things such as reading and signing contracts and understanding holidays like Valentine's Day.
