• Background: Haurchefant is the illegitimate son of Count Edmont de Fortemps. Though Haurchefant grew up in his father's household alongside his two half brothers (Artoirel and Emmanellain), he wasn’t as close to his father as most assumed, and his relationship with his stepmother was poor. At the age of 12, Haurchefant met Francel de Haillenarte outside of a party (he was banned from attending) that was held at Fortemps Manor. Five years later, Haurchefant rescued Francel from a trio of kidnappers while wielding only a knife and using his bare forearm to block an arrow. Performing this act of bravery earned the young Elezen his knighthood, and he was later assigned to be the Commander of Camp Dragonhead (which lies outside of the main city of Ishgard).
