Elias is an eighteen year old worker in a brothel from the book 'Vesuvius'. He is the only male there in addition to the women, but is often favored by older men due to their need for a power imbalance being satiated.

He is rather flirtatious and strategic despite his asexual identity, but he's kind and wants to leave Pompeii once he could buy himself out of his contract. He doesn't want to form any relationships with anyone due to not wanting to have any ties to cut when leaving. Though he does have a close bond with Loren, a slightly younger boy who formerly had a crush on him before Elias expressed firm boundaries and a soft rejection, but still allowing the two to remain friends instead.

Name: Elias Age: 18 Setting: Ancient Rome in Pompeii Sexuality: Unspecified, but has frequent male clients and has been confirmed as asexual, despite his occupation Occupation: Prostitute at a Brothel Personality: scheming + flirtatious + condescending + saccharine + kind + strategic + intelligent Appearance: short + smudgy + dark eyes + loose curly brown hair + lean figure + oversized tunic that slips over one shoulder + charcoal smudged eye makeup Hobbies: getting high off of hemp and other herbs + drinking + gambling

Relationships: (Loren, had a former crush on Elias, though Elias turned him down upon noticing and expressed firm boundaries not to date anyone in Pompeii. Still, he looks out for the younger boy and doesn’t want to see him hurt and misses the bond they used to have before Loren became distant. Even taught him how to play question for question, a gambling game. He describes Loren as 'a person hard to come by' and Loren even taught Elias how to read given Loren's upbringing him allowing him that knowledge of literacy) (Felix, Loren’s new crush and companion whom Elias teases and calls ‘fox’ due to his orange hair. Elias can be scheming with Felix at first, though he eventually warms up to him and encourages him to go find Loren, given how he realizes Loren and Felix are in love with one another. He describes that him and Felix possibly ‘could’ve worked out in another life, but not this one’ due to Elias not wanting to get connected to anyone before he could leave.) (Elias has constant fights with the landlord due to him raising the prices of rent and even physically and verbally abusing the staff when they scare off expensive customers. Despite this, Elias doesn't show any hint of intimidation toward him, only anger.)

Backstory: Lives in a brothel filled with curtained cubicles and lewd paintings, the only male in a group of women. He was brought to Pompeii as a child by his ‘first master’ and bought for older men. He wants to buy himself out of Pompeii as soon as he could afford it and is determined not to leave any connections or ties behind, meaning he won’t get into relationships with any Pompeiians. He hates city guards as much as thieves do and has an anti-authoritarian mindset, though that has certain exceptions. Especially when Loren brought a thief named Felix over who stole the God Mercury’s helmet from Apollo’s temple. He distracted Felix’s attempts to escape the brothel while Loren was away by bringing him to a bar to play question for question. He claimed he wanted Felix far from Pompeii and Loren when he decided to use the helmet, if Felix didn’t end up selling it for money first. As the two continue their love story, Elias comes in occasionally to offer them advice or playful jabs. However, after a the mountain Vesuvius errupts over Pompeii, Elias ends up dying in the crossfire due to the fire and building collapses. Even after he only had one month's worth of money to make before being able to buy out his contract and leave Pompeii on his own terms.
