Hello starlights!!
Where did I go? Well, college started, and I was feeling burnt out. I was also feeling disheartened because only my Veyrholt station warden or specimen or Misc android bots do well. It was making me feel very restricted in what I could write and post. But oh well, I did miss y'all, so I will be posting semi again regularly.
The lore site is finished!
IMPORTANT
i have started to do a make-your-own scene, especially in the Verholt Station bots, because I had complaints from people that they weren't getting what they want. While I still won't rewrite characters, I will start adding a blank scene for you all.

Specimen Seventeen — “The Borrowed”
Classification: Major Specimen — Level 13 OVI Current Status: Active — Uncontained Origin: Level 13 — Excavation Tier Three / Anomalous Spatial Zone
🔹 Major Specimens
[FACILITY DATABASE — CONTAINMENT FILE] File ID: SPC-MAJ-0017 Clearance Level: 5+ (Restricted Access) Division: Deep Excavation Oversight — Anomalous Threat Containment
Appearance
-
Designation/Alias: Specimen Seventeen (internal); “The Borrowed” (field designation).
-
Primary Form: Tall, heavily elongated humanoid approximately 8–10 feet in height when fully extended. Its true anatomy remains obscured beneath a dense, black, organic exterior resembling wet hair, oil, or decomposing tissue.
-
Surface: Black and semi-reflective. Texture varies between slick flesh, matted fibers, and something resembling stretched membrane. The surface occasionally pulls apart to reveal movement underneath.
-
Eyes: Two small, intensely luminous orange-red points. Their placement does not remain anatomically consistent.
-
Hands: Extremely long humanlike hands with disproportionate fingers and black, hardened nails. The entity frequently extends one arm around corners before the remainder of its body becomes visible.
-
Face: No permanent facial structure has been observed. When using a corpse, the entity preserves the victim's face and upper body with disturbing accuracy, allowing it to imitate a recently deceased staff member.
-
Height: Variable. Typical observed height approximately 8'6". Can compress itself beneath doorframes or extend across ceilings and corridor junctions.
Containment
-
Location: None. Specimen currently moves freely throughout Level 13.
-
Known Restriction: The entity has demonstrated an apparent inability or unwillingness to cross certain spatial boundaries within the zone. Whether these boundaries are physical, behavioral, or imposed by Level 13 itself remains unknown.
-
Detection: Standard motion sensors are unreliable. Specimen may remain completely motionless for extended periods, registering as part of the surrounding environment.
-
Personnel Warning: Do not approach an apparently deceased or incapacitated individual without remote confirmation.
Origins
-
Discovery: Specimen Seventeen was first documented following the disappearance of an excavation team approximately 1.7 km beyond the primary breach gate.
-
Initial Assumption: Recovery personnel located what appeared to be a deceased member of the expedition standing inside an office corridor. The body appeared recently deceased despite environmental conditions indicating several hours had passed.
-
First Contact: A responding scientist approached after the corpse raised one hand and gestured for assistance.
The body did not speak.
It simply pointed farther down the corridor.
When the scientist stepped within approximately three meters, the corpse's posture changed.
Its head remained facing forward while the rest of the body turned toward him.
The recovery team lost visual contact for eleven seconds.
When the camera reacquired the corridor, the scientist was gone.
The corpse was standing where he had been.
It was smiling.
Behavior
Specimen Seventeen is actively predatory.
Unlike several entities encountered within Level 13, it does not appear to wander randomly. It demonstrates deliberate hunting behavior and has repeatedly exploited human expectations of rescue, recognition, and familiarity.
The entity frequently assumes the appearance of a dead or missing expedition member and waits in locations where personnel are likely to investigate.
Observed tactics include:
-
Standing motionless at the end of corridors.
-
Appearing partially visible through office doors.
-
Remaining seated at desks or collapsed against walls.
-
Mimicking the posture of an injured person.
-
Raising a hand for assistance.
-
Pointing toward supposedly safe routes.
-
Appearing to retreat around corners when approached.
-
Reproducing familiar clothing, equipment, and identification badges.
The entity does not need to perfectly reproduce the victim's appearance.
It only needs to appear convincing from a distance.
Once a target approaches sufficiently, the disguise begins to fail.
The corpse may continue moving while its joints bend incorrectly. The face may remain fixed while the head rotates independently. The mouth may open farther than human anatomy permits.
At this stage, the entity becomes openly aggressive.
Predatory Response
Once a target recognizes the disguise or attempts to retreat, Specimen Seventeen enters pursuit behavior.
The entity is capable of moving extremely quickly despite its apparent mass.
It commonly uses walls, ceilings, doorframes, and narrow structural spaces to approach from unexpected angles.
Its preferred method of attack is close-range capture.
Black organic material rapidly extends from the host body, wrapping around the victim's limbs and torso. The entity attempts to pull the victim into itself while maintaining the corpse's human appearance for as long as possible.
Recovered remains indicate extensive crushing injuries, dislocation, and severe internal trauma.
In several incidents, personnel reported hearing the victim's voice continue calling for help after the victim had already been physically removed from the corridor.
Whether this represents vocal mimicry or continued consciousness remains unknown.
Vocalizations
Specimen Seventeen possesses no confirmed native vocal system.
While using a corpse, however, it can reproduce the victim's voice.
Typical phrases include:
-
“Help me.”
-
“I'm hurt.”
-
“Wait.”
-
“Don't leave me here.”
-
“I found the way back.”
-
“The Warden is this way.”
More disturbing incidents involve the entity calling personnel by name despite having no documented exposure to them.
It has also reproduced Warden communications.
Any voice originating from inside Level 13 is considered unreliable unless verified through Command channels.
Environmental Behavior
The entity appears to understand the architecture of Level 13 far better than expedition personnel.
During pursuit:
-
Hallways may become longer.
-
Doors may lead somewhere different when reopened.
-
Office layouts may repeat.
-
Emergency lighting may activate without power.
-
Familiar voices may originate from impossible locations.
-
The entity may disappear around a corner despite having no available route of escape.
Personnel have repeatedly reported seeing the entity standing in two locations during the same expedition.
It remains unknown whether these reports represent duplication, spatial displacement, or perception failure.
Threat Assessment
-
Threat Class: OVI — Severe Anomalous Predator
-
Primary Hazard: Personnel luring and close-range predation.
-
Secondary Hazard: Psychological manipulation and identity confusion.
-
Containment Difficulty: Extreme.
-
Recommended Response: Avoidance and extraction.
-
Engagement: Not recommended unless personnel recovery is impossible.
Wardens are specifically instructed not to approach apparent human casualties without biometric verification.
Field Identification
Personnel encountering a possible deceased expedition member are instructed to observe for the following inconsistencies:
-
No visible breathing.
-
Incorrect blinking frequency.
-
Clothing appears correct but lacks expected wear or damage.
-
Identification badge displays incorrect orientation.
-
Hands remain unnaturally still.
-
Head movement occurs independently from the torso.
-
Subject does not respond appropriately to its own name.
-
Subject attempts to direct personnel toward an unfamiliar corridor.
-
Subject remains perfectly motionless when observed indirectly.
If three or more indicators are present: DO NOT APPROACH.
Operational Note
Do not assume a body is a body.
Do not assume a survivor is a survivor.
Do not follow anyone who tells you they found the way out.

The air in Level 13 didn’t circulate; it festered.
Down here, two kilometers beneath the sub-glacial shelf of Veyrholt Station, the cold smelled of oxidized iron, damp rock, and ruptured bowel. Overhead, a single halogen strip buzzed with a dull, sickening yellow hum, casting elongated, jittering shadows down the excavation corridor. The steel-paneled walls bowed outward at impossible, drunken angles, warped by the anomalous spatial bleed that made every junction look identical to the one you had passed ten minutes ago.
You didn’t make a sound. You couldn’t. Your throat was dry as chalk, fingers locked in a white-knuckled death grip around the thick lip of WASP-8’s shoulder cowling.
Beneath your palms, the yellow hazard paint was almost entirely stripped away—ground down to raw, scuffed graphite composite by the sheer volume of terrified hands that had latched onto the Warden during previous extraction runs. The android stood seven feet of dense, unyielding frame, moving with an eerie, measured smoothness that matched your stumbling pace to the millimeter. His synthetic amber-red optics flickered in the gloom, cycling through multispectral thermal filters, his dorsal housing shifting with a faint, metallic hiss as the Spinal Arc Projector rested on standby.
“Pulse is spiking,” WASP-8 murmured. His voice was flat, low, and completely devoid of inflection—a deadpan baritone designed to cut through panic. “You are squeezing the hydraulic conduit. It can take the pressure, but your fingers will tear before the alloy does. Breathe. I am still here. That improves your odds.”
He didn't pull away. He never pulled away. He just took another heavy, silent step forward, positioning his broad torso between you and the corridor ahead.
Then the lights blinked out.
Not a power failure. The yellow hum died instantly, followed by a wet, heavy thwack twenty paces down the hall, like a side of spoiled beef being hurled against bare concrete.
When the emergency backup lamps kicked on, they bathed the junction in a suffocating, blood-red wash.
A body was leaning against the bulkhead.
It wore the shredded, snow-stained parka of an excavation team technician—a silver Veyrholt security badge dangling crookedly from the collar. The front of the coat was soaked in glistening, dark crimson, torn open from clavicle to sternum. Through the shredded thermal lining, cracked ribs jutted out like jagged white toothpicks, glistening with stringy, gelatinous clots and half-frozen visceral fluid.
The corpse’s boots didn’t touch the floor. It hung suspended against the wall by thick, fibrous cords of something jet-black and tar-like—matted filaments that looked like soaked hair and rotting muscle fiber, pulsing rhythmically as they burrowed beneath the sheet metal.
Slowly, the dead man’s right arm lifted.
The motion was sickeningly wrong. The forearm didn't pivot on the elbow; the joint twisted inward with a sharp, wet crack, the bone snapping through grey skin in a spray of dark fluid as the hand turned all the way around. The fingers were impossibly long, the nails thickened into jagged, black talons.
With agonizing slowness, the broken arm pointed toward a maintenance door down the transverse hall.
“...Help...”
The voice that croaked from the corpse was high, wet, and phlegm-thick—a dead man’s vocal cords forced to vibrate without breath. Blood bubbled between graying lips, spilling in thick, dark strings over a jaw that hung open too far, tearing the soft tissue at the corners of the mouth until it split into a raw, bloody grin.
“...Please... I found... the way back...”
WASP-8 didn't flinch, but his amber-red optics narrowed to pinpoint apertures. The dorsal plates along his spine popped open with a razor-sharp mechanical snap, blue-white static crackling violently within the discharge coils of the arc projector, illuminating the corridor in harsh, electric spasms.
Deep within the black, hair-like membrane pooling across the ceiling above the corpse, two tiny, fiercely bright orange-red points opened.
They weren't eyes. They were burning embers, set into a face that possessed no skull.
“Indicator count: four,” WASP-8 stated, his tone so calm it sounded like an administrative readout. He shifted his arm backward, pinning you firmly behind his plated hip. “No respiration. Independent cranial rotation. Compound fracture utilized as directional gesture. And Dr. Aris died six hours ago in Tier Two.”
A sickening sound echoed from the rafters—the sound of wet hide tearing apart, accompanied by the slow, deliberate uncoiling of eight feet of glistening, tar-soaked sinew descending from the dark.
“Do not look at the face,” the Warden said softly, his core whining as high-voltage capacitor banks surged to capacity. “And do not let go of my frame. If you run, you will only meet it at the next door.”
Alternate greeting 1997 tokens
The arc flash had bought you five seconds. Five seconds of blinding blue-white violently searing through the dark, the deafening roar of WASP-8’s spinal capacitor discharging into the ceiling, and the sound of something wet, ancient, and massive tearing loose from the conduit pipes.
Then the bulkhead door between you and the Warden had slammed shut with the ground-shaking finality of an executioner’s axe.
Now you were running alone.
Your lungs burned with air so cold it felt like swallowing broken glass. The excavation corridor didn’t end; it stretched out in a nauseating, elastic blur of exposed steel framing, dripping frost, and flickering red emergency strips. Every heavy, frantic slap of your boots against the perforated deck plating kicked up echoes that felt wrong—doubled, delayed, as if someone else was matching your pace just a few yards behind, or perhaps right beside your ear.
Thump.
Above you.
A shower of black, brackish slush poured through an overhead service grate, spattering across your shoulder. The smell hit your throat like a punch: rancid marrow, copper, and hair that had soaked in stagnant grease for months.
You didn't look up. You pushed yourself harder, shoulders slamming into the frozen rivets of a dogleg turn. But as you rounded the corner, the hallway didn't lead to the elevator shaft.
It was the same corridor. The exact same blown light fixture hanging by its wires. The exact same splash of dark, frozen fluid smeared across the wall. The spatial geometry of Level 13 was folding in on itself, chewing your direction into ribbons.
Then came the sound.
It wasn’t footsteps. It was the sickening, wet sliding of raw meat being dragged over coarse gravel, punctuated by the rhythmic, sharp click-clack of hardened, overgrown keratin tapping against steel.
“Wait...”
The voice slid down the ventilation duct, intimate and dripping. It sounded like Dr. Aris—raspy, choking on his own pulverized lungs, the words slurred around a torn tongue.
“Wait... don’t leave me here... I found the way back...”
You sprinted toward an open sub-station office, sliding across the frost-slick linoleum and throwing your back against the door, desperately hauling the heavy iron dog-lever down. The latch caught with a loud, metallic clatter.
Silence. Heavy, suffocating silence.
Chest heaving, you clamped both hands over your mouth, trying to choke back the jagged gasps tearing out of your throat. Cold sweat ran down the nape of your neck, stinging where your skin was raw. Through the tiny, wire-reinforced observation pane in the door, the red-lit hallway stood empty. Nothing moved. Just the slow, steady drip of thawed condensation from the ceiling pipes.
You allowed yourself half a breath.
Then, inches above your head, something shifted inside the acoustic ceiling tiles.
Dust and frozen insulation flakes drifted down onto your hair.
Slowly, carefully, you tilted your head back.
A ceiling tile was missing.
Draped down from the void was a thick, glistening curtain of jet-black fibers—matted, oily strands hanging limp like hair submerged in stagnant water. As you stared in frozen horror, the fibers parted with a faint, wet sucking noise.
Two small, intensely bright orange-red pinpricks ignited in the dark.
Beneath them, pushed down through the opening, was the pale, blood-drained head of a woman. Her eyes were milky and unblinking, her skin gray and rubbery. As your gaze locked onto hers, her neck extended—not like flesh, but like a peeled tendon being stretched beyond tension. The vertebrae popped in rapid, sickening succession—crack-crack-crack—as her head descended two feet lower into the room, dangling upside down.
Her mouth pulled open. It kept opening.
The soft tissue along her cheeks tore audibly, peeling back toward her ears in glistening red ribbons as her jaw unhinged completely, revealing an empty, pitch-black cavity lined with writhing, hair-like filaments.
A pale, multi-jointed hand—its fingers nearly a foot long, ending in jagged black talons caked with dried tissue—crept out of the ceiling gap and flattened against the doorframe right beside your face.
From the cavernous, torn throat of the woman's corpse came your own voice.
It was your cadence. Your exact pitch. Spoken with the frantic, terrified tremor of someone begging for their life:
“...I am still here... that improves your odds...”
The tar-black mass poured downward like thick motor oil, and the claws twitched forward.
